Davina Elena Vačkářová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The presented work proposes and applies a set of methods designed to describe ecosystem integrity, services and landscape values, including their interaction, on the example of several studied regions. The included publications describes 4 types of methods for evaluating these phenomena: remote sensing of the Earth, regional statistics, expert matrices, and qualitative interviews and mapping. Applied methods can be divided into natural sciences and social sciences, and part of the work is to evaluate the benefits and compare the compatibility between these very different methods in evaluating selected elements of landscapes. The methods are applied in a variety of ranges, ranging from urban areas (10 km2) to the federal states. Natural ecosystems and forests have been assessed best in terms of ecosystem integrity, with the relationship between ecosystem integrity and crop production being negative. Phytoplankton succession in experimental ponds

1 Abstract Newly created habitats present a unique model environment for the study of succession and related processes. Their relative isolation and the possibility to observe community assembly dynamics from the very beginning makes these experiments repeatable under controlled conditions. Planktic organisms with short generation cycles represent useful model organisms for the research of succession and related features like the influence of environmental variables or priority effect. The thesis aims at describing the succession of phytoplankton in a set of 20 experimental ponds, where phytoplankton structure and environmental parameters have been observed for six years (2007 ̶ 2012). The ponds are located in Liběchovka River-bed, which is a part of Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area. The target locality is protected by the Ramsar agreement as a habitat for pulling birds and amphibians. We used classical and multidimensional statistical methods (PCA, DCA, CCA) to analyse the variability in species composition and shifts in environmental variables. Clash of Values and the Desire for Power

application/x-abiword AbiWord Abstract: The feud for maintaining the natural and calm character of town district Klánovice has, through its medialization, reached a nationwide scale. It centeres around a perpetuous effort of a foreign investor to construct a golf course, which is supposed to replace a piece of forest currently serving the public as a place of recreation and relief. The feud is beeing held by various means begining with persuation of citizens and acquiring their votes, and ending with questionable intriques and behind-the-scene conclusions. This thesis attempts to capture this cause through several theoretical planes, whereas the stress in beeing made on consistent narration about laws, whitch formed the course of the cause. This work analyses the story of Klánovice on the field of scienticfic disciplines of politology, economy and sociology. Thease disciplines serve as a perspective for further analysis and description of relations, values and interests of the rivalious sides in struggle for power.
