Pavel Pola, The Transformation of Faith in a Spiritual Crisis. The experience of Thérèse of Lisieux and Nicolae Steinhardt in the light of Viktor Frankl's approach, dissertation. Prague: UK ETF 2023. This thesis addresses the conditions of under what a spiritual crisis can affect a person's faith positively, and the characteristics of this crisis-affected faith. I first examine this question, based on the experience and psychological approach of Viktor E. Frankl, who speaks of an existential crisis characterised by the absence of meaning. According to Frankl, the search for meaning is the main step towards transformation in a positive direction - that is, towards an ordering of priorities, a consciousness of responsibility, a willingness to self-transcendence, and an acceptance of immutable reality. I then explore the experience of spiritual crisis in an analogous way with my two main authors on the basis of their autobiographies: Therese of Lisieux and Nicolae Steinhardt. First, I examine how their faith was formed and what their spiritual crisis looked like. Then I look for the steps they took in this crisis to help their own transformation. Finally, I describe how this transformed faith looked - and paradoxically, I come to the realisation that strength and unwavering resolve were not stronger, for it...

The Message of Karel Makoň
Krůza, Jan Oldřich ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Vik, Dalibor Jiří (referee)
Poselství Karla Makoně Abstrakt Český mystik Karel Makoň (*1912 †1993) po sobě zanechal rozsáhlé a vý- znamné dílo v psané a mluvené podobě.
The Message of Karel Makoň
Krůza, Jan Oldřich ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Vik, Dalibor Jiří (referee)
The Message of Karel Makoň Abstract Karel Makoň (*1912 †1993), a Czech mystician, has left behind an extensive and significant opus, both written and spoken. In the dozens of books he has written he elaborates on a how-to for entering the conscious Life Eternal. He was talking to several groups of followers, which resulted in over a thousand hours of magnetophone tape recordings. The breadth of his talks makes it hard to deter- mine the main points of his message, and available literature about him is very sporadical. There are repeated significant statements appearing over the span of more than twenty years of his recorded oral activity. Some of these repeated sta- tements are: "Passivity is an essential part of the path to God.", "Prayer must not be mechanical if it is to have its connecting effect.", "God's grace is a phenomenon subject to law." These statements can certainly be included in the foundation of his teaching. But what does the foundation include otherwise? A list of candidate topics in Makoň's spoken corpus can be obtained through computational analysis of his transcribed recordings. This can be a basis for an exhaustive list of topics covering the entire material. All foundational questoins of systematical theology can be answered using Makoň's talks. Many of these answers are controversial...
The Biblical View of Suffering based on the Old Testament Book of Job and Selected texts of Mesopotamian Literature.
Fictumová, Regina ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Vik, Dalibor Jiří (referee)
In my bachelor's thesis, I focus on the Biblical view of suffering in the Old Testament book of Job and the reflected suffering of the pious in selected themes of the wisdom literature of ancient Mesopotamia. The Book of Job could be seen as an "extraordinary complicated"1 book and in my opinion, it seems to me even provocative in several ways. This dense text, which I consider among other things, to be a theological treatise, contains not only very deep thoughts but also scary, sometimes even dark statements, in which even a well- informed reader can easily get lost. Paying attention to this possible confusion the thesis simplifies the topics by clarifying the main line of thought or intent of the book. The intent is to reference biblical pericopes, which I found and documented by studying the literature and the Scriptures. The book of Job is not the only composition from which wisdom, refined by pain, speaks. The problem of suffering is one of the timeless problems of human existence. As a consequence of that, I searched for texts from the wisdom literature of ancient Mesopotamia, such as "Man and his God," "I want to praise the Lord of Wisdom," and "Babylonian Theodicy," and compared the book with above mentioned literatures. This effort may be seen boldly by several readers, but I believe it to...
Freedom of Conscience and Spirit of Christ - Fundamental Principle of Hussite Theology
Sedlák, Filip ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Šafin, Ján (referee)
Freedom of Conscience and Spirit of Christ - Fundamental Principle of Hussite Theology Filip Sedlák The dissertation topic is freedom of conscience in the Spirit of Christ as a specific expression of the essence of Christianity and the resulting Christian freedom in the concept of the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church (CHC) - Hussite theology. Although freedom of conscience and the Spirit of Christ are two seemingly independent ideas, it is clear from the tradition of Hussite theology, including official doctrinal and legal documents, that they are connected. Zdeněk Trtík, the most important theologian for this concept, connects them later explicitly in the form mentioned above. The primary notion is the Spirit of Christ as the essence of Christianity. Freedom of conscience as a form of Christian freedom ensues from it due to accepting the authority of the Spirit of Christ, accepting Christ as the Lord, and becoming his disciples. The concept of freedom of conscience in the Spirit of Christ has a crucial permanent place in the CHC tradition and has been present in it from the beginning to the present. But at the same time, this concept has undergone some evolution and changes, and therefore it must be considered in its essence, which is permanent. Thus, we are looking for the essence of...

The diploma thesis "The Influence of the Trinity Archetype on the Thoughts of Democracy and Pluralism" deals with a long-term discussed theme of interrelationship of democracy, pluralism and the church. It considers a development of a democracy since its birth on a basis of collation with totalitarian regimes and a strict monotheism and tries to point out significant fundamentals of democracy and Trinitarian God. It observes an archetypal attributes and interpersonal relationships belonging to Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It finds out a relevant analogy of them in human being and society.
