Jan Nepomucký patron of reconciliation

The starting point in examining the involvement of Christians among displaced Germans after The Second World War in the process of post-war reconciliation and establishing cooperation between war-divided peoples of Bohemia and Germans, in the field of cultural and scientific cooperation. Notable achievements included travelling exhibitions to mark 250 years since the beatification, 250 years since the canonization and 600 years since the martyr's death of St. John of Nepomuk. The exhibitions document the scope of Ackermann Gemeinde and Adalbert Stifter Verein from 1947 to the Velvet Revolution of 1989.

Commemorative book of herring sellers in the Prague New Town

The topic of this diploma thesis is the Commemorative Book of Prague Nydrlak, whose origins date back to the 17th century in the Prague New Town. The records in the book were written mainly by the merchants who travelled to Prague to trade. Most of those merchants were most likely involved in the international trade with marine fish that were imported from the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Due to the representative role of commemorative books, the majority of the merchants received their illuminations from professional artists. The introductory chapters of the thesis describe contemporary practice of business of the given period, specifics of Nydrlak in the context of the practice, the commemorative book culture of the 16th and 17th century, but also the fortunes of Nydrlak before its depositing into the Prague City Archives. A pivotal part of the paper is dedicated to the merchants themselves who would left some information about their lives in the book. Based on this source and several other archival documents, the thesis assesses the confessional, societal, regional, and proprietary stratification of the community that was assembled around Prague Nydrlak.

Czech portrait medal of the past and present

This diploma thesis deals with Czech portrait medals in the past and present. The aim was to map Czech medal portrait work from its origins in the Renaissance to the present. At the beginning, the work is focused on the precious metals from which the medals are made, gold and silver. The history of gold and silver is included in the theory. The concepts of numismatics or commemorative medals made of gold and silver as investment preservation of real value are clarified. We were interested in the overall artistic process of producing portrait medal into the final product. The historical development of medals in the Czech lands followed. In each period, important artists, medalists, and their work are mentioned. All chapters contain pictorial materials. The practical part is devoted to all existing mintages of Karel Gott, which is a unique medal investment. Along with him, contemporary medal artists are characterized in more detail. In the end, the first findings about the portrait medal are summarized. The work brings an overall view of portrait medal work. Medal making represents a specific area of fine and sculptural art. John Frederick of Wallenstein and his disputes over taxes to the Turkish war (1682 - 1694)

The ann of this thesis of archbishop of Prague Johann Friedrich von Waldstein (1642 - 1694; archbishop 1675-1694) consists in description of conflicts with Czech land assembly and state apparatus in the years 1678, 1679, 1682-1686 and 1691-1694. The last and most important continued also after his death (3'^'* June 1694). That time Czech clergy sent two deputies (further archbishop Daniel Ignatius Mayer of Mayem and abbot of monastery in Plasy Andreas Troyer) to Vienna, to arrange adjustment of a dispount, which culminated on the beginning of the year 1694. Principal chapters of this thesis deal with conflicts in the years 1682-1686 and 1691- 1694 (chapters 4-7). These are based on detailed archive research, especially of sources of 1®' department of National Archives in Czech republic (Archives of archiepiscopate in Prague), Family archives of Waldstein, located in The Regional State Archives in Prague and Archivio Segreto Vaticano in Cittá del Vaticano. Jarmila Hašková - epoch, life, work

This thesis focuses on the personality of a writer and humorist Jarmila Hašková. It deals with a biographical summary of the writer's life and author's bibliography overview. The thesis is divided into two main chapters, the first deals with the author's life and the second dedicates to the author's creation. The first chapter describes the author's childhood spent in a large family, but it was accompanied by frequent health problems, furthermore, a relatively dramatical relationship with a writer Jaroslav Hašek and a period of author's life after separation, when Hašková came with her son Richard back to her parents. She gained not only a permanent job but also she took up a literary activity completely. The second chapter deals with the author's work in detail, initially with the work's beginnings, which relate to poetry. After that, it deals with prosaic writings in which lied centre of her creations and, ultimately, other arts sectors such as film and radio Hašková devoted. Jarmila Hašková wrote humoristic short stories primarily about daily life and interpersonal relations. The thesis gives an overview of the contemporary reception of Jarmila Hašková's prosaic works. The Devil in Prague - Prague legends on television

The bachelor's thesis focuses on elaboration of Devil in Prague series, made in 1996 in production of Czech Television. The aim is to study extent of synthesis of legends and facts in series, the source of information's and inspiration to writers. At the same time, I will try to find a contemporary critical review and some reception of spectators. Series are divided into individual stories - legends of Prague, so as chapters in this work, whereas second chapter focuses on story about Jesuit college, that goes through all other stories. Every chapter describe the legend and then its genesis. The thesis is based on specialised literature and visits of movie archive of Czech Television.

Wilhelm von Bode and the International Art Market: the Unpublished Correspondence with Rudolphe Kann and Joseph Duveen This dissertation explores changing trends in the European and American art market in the late 19th and beginning of the 20th Centuries, in particular their influences, presented from the perspective of Wilhelm von Bode, renowned connoisseur and, at the time, director general of the Berlin Museums and explored predominantly through his relationship with the private collector Rudolphe Kann and art dealer Joseph Duveen. At the time, the collection of Rudolphe Kann was considered to be one of the most refined among the European private collections, yet it hasn't received much attention by contemporary scholars. This dissertation therefore offers the most systematic review of Kann's collection since 1907, the year when Bode compiled the revised catalogue. Wilhelm Bode was actively involved in building the Kann collection, as shown by the extensive numbers of private, previously unpublished, correspondence, which provided the foundation of this research.
