Children Folklor Ensembles in Prague

TITLE: Children's Folkloric Groups in Prague ABSTRACT: This thesis focuses on children's folkloric groups in Prague. In my thesis I chart individual children's folkloric groups in Prague and identify ethnographic regions of the Czech Republic covered by these groups. Another aim of my thesis is to collect information concerning organization of these folkloric groups. I describe various motivations of their leaders and founders. Using interview method, I determine why they put efforts in folkloric groups, describe their opinions on what such groups can bring to children and difficulties they encounter. Finally, my aim is to determine children's motivation to take active part in folkloric groups and folklore itself. In my thesis I use research methods - qualitative and quantitative research. Interpretation of Moravian Duets op. 32 by Antonín Dvořák in the Selected Czech Choirs

This diploma thesis deals with Moravian Duets op. 32 written by Antonín Dvořák. Including comparsion of manuscript and contemporary edition of notation and comprehensive chapter which analyse recordings of this piece. Recordings are from different types of choirs. They are represented by children's choirs, women choirs and by female component of mixed choirs. Next chapters focus on analysis of each duet from perspective of interpretation, draw attention to difficult parts and gives recommendations for the interpretation. The analysis is mainly focused on the difficulty of interpretation in terms of vocal technique. The final chapter describes vocal exercises and recommendations for easier practicing and more convincing interpretation of this piece.
Boys Choir Pueri Gaudentes

Theoretical part deals with the foundation of the choir and its history, describes the cooperation with The Prague State Opera, well-known conductors and corps, discography, participation in domestic as well as foreign competitions and festivals or concert tours and other important performances. Further it defines the system of the inner structures of the choir, repertoar, the leading members and new corps, which were connected with Pueri gaudentes at the time of their origin. The Choirmaster and Conductor Jan Maria Dobrodinský

The aim of this diploma thesis called "Choirmaster and conductor Jan Maria Dobrodinský" is to present the profile and the system of work of this important Czech choirmaster, conductor, and lecturer, Doc. Mgr. Jan Maria Dobrodinský (born in 1925). J. M. Dobrodinský has professionally studied at the conservatory and several colleges. He was greatly influenced by his teacher Vaclav Talich. Dobrodinský as a chief-choirmaster became a part of history of Slovak Philharmonic Chorus, which he greatly influenced by his interpretation and dramaturgy. He also worked as a conductor for several important Czech and European choirs and orchestras; he worked as a chief-conductor in Central Bohemian Symphonic Orchestra. The basis of his success was his effort to study the score as precisely as possible and to realize it most punctually on the basis of his inner sound imagination of the piece. After 1989 (Velvet Revolution in the Czech Republic), J. M. Dobrodinský enters into the politics and becomes the advisor of ministry of culture of the Czech Republic. Greatly appreciated is his work for Association of music artists and scientists, and also his pedagogical and publishing work. Folk music as a part of traditions in Chod region

The main purpose of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the rich folk activity of the Chodsko region, especially the musical elements within certain local traditions. The thesis envisages the music as essential part not only of customs and traditions but also of the lifestyle typical for this frontier region in general. Besides going through significant dates, this text discusses the development of the folklore in villages and in the capital itself - Domažlice city, the cradle of Chodsko region's festivities.
