Emissions from biomass combustion
Vaněk, Michal ; Lisá, Hana (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The thesis deals with harmful substances originating as products of biomass combus-tion and possibilities of reducing their emissions from boilers for household heating. First of all, biomass is introduced and a description of important fuel properties in terms of its combustion is given. Secondly, the characteristic of the combustion process and origination mechanisms of individual substances are presented. This is followed by a description of the properties of these substances and their impacts on human health and the environment. The purpose of the next chapter is to present the reader with current legislation addressing the emissions of small boilers. Then a separate chapter describes possible methods that can be used to reduce emissions of these devices. Finally, several measures in the form of modifications and devices, capable of reducing harmful emissions of small boilers are given.
Removal of metabolites of pesticides from groundwater during treatment for drinking water
Vaněk, Michal ; Repková, Martina (referee) ; Král,, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the efficiency of pesticide metabolite removal at a water treatment plant. In the introduction, a research on the issue of pesticide substances in raw water, their removal during the treatment to drinking water and the basic classification of pesticides is made. The thesis includes an introduction to the issues at a specific water treatment plant, technological changes at the water treatment plant, tabulated and graphically processed measured values of pesticide metabolites in groundwater source and drinking water. In the conclusion of the thesis, individual pesticide metabolites are discussed, their sorption on granular activated carbon is assessed and conclusions are drawn.

Feasibility study pumped storage hydropower plant in a particular locality
Vaněk, Michal ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hudec, Martin (advisor)
Electric energy storage represents an area, which needs to be further developed in order to accommodate more installed capacity of wind and solar power plants in the electric grids. Pumped hydro energy storage still remains ahead of other storage technologies in terms of achievable storage capacity. However, environment protection which is one of the obstacles for further PHES development in Europe causes significant reduction of suitable sites. It is therefore useful to examine also those sites, which seem to be less favourable for PHES at the first glance. This thesis deals with a feasibility study of a PHES on place of a former graphite surface mine. The thesis includes computation of basic capacities, choice of a suitable machine arrangement and introduction into PHES feasibility issues in electric grids. Two possible solutions of a smaller PHES that differ in their capacities were suggested based on available materials about the site as well as on available materials from Francis pump turbine model research. In case of both solutions a binary machine set is used and the available capacities are in small tens of megawatts. However, there is a wide head variation at the site, which causes significant power variation. Concerning the feasibility of the PHES, it is very uncertain that the participation in the day-ahead electricity market, would provide enough revenue to cover operation and capital costs. A following economic analysis investigating the capital costs of this particular PHES would be beneficial, as well as more detailed design of the reservoirs.

Historical interpretations of Lithuanian language system
Vaněk, Michal ; Hoskovec, Tomáš (advisor) ; Blažek, Vladimír (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare two historical interpreta-tions of Lithuanian (and Baltic) language system. The first one is Verglei-chende Grammatik der baltischen Sprachen (Oslo - Bergen - Tromsö 1966) by Indo-European, Baltic and Slavic philologist Christian Schweigaard Stang, the other one is Lietuvi kalbos istorin gramatika (Vilnius 1968) by Baltic phi-lologist Jonas Kazlauskas. Both books are of major importance for the Baltic studies. Stang gives a comprehensive compendium of the latest knowledge on the history of Baltic languages in perspective of young-grammarian tradition of Indo-European historical-comparative linguistics. He demonstrates the In-do-European correspondences in Baltic languages and describes the evolution of the Baltic languages in context of the evolution of Indo-European lan-guages (particular importance is given to ancient Indo-European languages, especially Ancient Greek and Ancient Indian) which can lead to some misin-terpretations. Kazlauskas's book is based on methods of modern phonology and struc-tural-functional approach to language. Kazlauskas rather concentrates, in con-trast to Stang, on partial evolutionary processes in Lithuanian itself using me-thod of internal reconstruction and analyzing voluminous amount of dialectal data.

Vliv kvality a zpracování siláží a senáží na mléčnou užitkovost dojnic
VANĚK, Michal
Thesis on quality impact and processing silage and silage on milk yield of dairy cows discusses the theoretical part, mainly on the composition of the diet and milk production. In addressing this issue is important to ensure animal welfare. An integral part of the milk production is respecting technological procedures harvesting and preservation of harvested crops. Silage quality and composition of the diet affect the proper function of the rumen, which has an impact on the quality and composition of milk. The quality of milk and its composition affects the purchase price of milk. The practical part deals with methodology and data processing of milk production, the composition of the ration and analysis of silage and their subsequent statistical processing. Further consideration was given to the possible influence of the season. Statistical results were then compared with many experts. The results fell the most in 2015, which increased the average monthly milk yield . In this year , the best fed silage and forage
