Festival "Dny soudobé hudby" with a focus on choral music.

The bachelor's thesis maps choral compositions that were presented in the world, Czech and Prague premieres in the festival "Dny soudobé hudby" (Days of contemporary music) for particular compositions the date of performance, the cast, a author's brief commentary and the name of the performers who premiered the compositions are presented. The work also describes the running of the festival, its brief history and the individual companies that participate in its preparation. The premiered compositions are complemented by a medallion of the particular composers and of their performers.

Thesis looks at parallel pensum of high school and musical education from the perspective of the teachers and students of Gymnasium and Musical School of Capital City Prague. Apart from the history and the foundation of musical classes, the paper mainly focuses on the research part which brings the teachers' views on for example the cooperation with their colleagues, their opinions on the appropriate school equipment, or what they themselves gained from teaching at the school. The thesis also looks at the school students and graduates. Using a survey, it attempts to find their opinions on the time demands of their studies, what they learnt at the school and how they retrospectively see their experience with it. Furthermore, the paper provides interviews with graduates, teachers and headmasters.
Falsetto As a Main Tool for Structuring Male Singing Voice An examination of singing manuals of 20. century

This master thesis will examine the role of falsetto in structuring the male singing voice. The author will examine both Czech and international literature of the 20th century concerned with pedagogy of singing with regard to the use of head register. Works that are cited in this thesis were chosen based upon their authors' common view that it is the contribution of head voice that should play major role in structuring the singing voice. Czech authors in this thesis include Antonín Mařík, Jiří Bar, Rudolf Vašek and Přemysl Kočí. Foreign authors are represented by Anthony Frisell. This thesis strives to summarize main pedagogical concepts of the above mentioned authors. Based upon citations, it lists and explains their most common views. Apart from explaining thoughts and opinions that are shared by a majority of listed authors, this thesis also mentions views and opinions that are in some way radical or significantly different from the rest of the group. These pedagocial concepts of head voice training are later compared with the current method of chest voice training. Here, the author draws not only on the literature but also on his experience from his studies of classical singing at the Prague Conservatory. The diploma thesis deals with the field of musical theatre and specifies all the activities and competencies of a conductor throughout the process of preparation and subsequent realization of a musical performance. The text of the thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of a musical, its brief world history and its integration into the Czech environment. It also maps the history of the Karlín Musical Theater and presents profiles of its current conductors. The aim of the theoretical part is to introduce the reader to the issues of this genre, to introduce its three basic components: music, drama and movement, and to point out the differences between classical musicals and those of a revue type. The second, practical part, focuses on the profession of conducting in the field of musical theatre. It demonstrates the specific activities of a conductor in two key genres of musical theatre: opera and musical. It also focuses on the means of expression a musical conductor works with, with a special emphasis on the tempo, which has been the subject of frequent discussions amongst members of different artistic components of the musical performance. Specifics of choirmaster's work in the choir with people with disabilities

The thesis focuses on specifics of choirmaster's work in choir with people with disabilities. The first half of theoretical part brings general overview of choirmaster's competencies, divided into three principal categories, which are essential for his work. The second half of theoretical part presents different types of disabilities, which are possible for choirmaster to meet with, and outline the specific needs related to choir singing based on the type of disability. The practical part of this work presents a research built on interviews with eight choirmasters, who had the experience with leading choir with majority of people with disabilities or experienced integration of people with disabilities in their choirs. By analyzing repetitive themes mentioned in choirmaster's statements we summarize their experiences, which can be the source of inspiration to other choirmasters dealing with this problematics.
Music on the choir of the church of St. Lawrence in Náchod

This bachelor thesis gives an overview about church music in the church of St. Lawrence in Náchod since the 16th century to contemporaneousness. The first mention of music in the dean's church originates in the first half of the 16th century, when a Literati Brotherhood was operating there, which is dealt with in a separate chapter. The church choir can be considered as its modern successor. The work mentions a non-liturgical musical production in the dean's church, which is nowadays organised mainly by various Náchod choirs. The main goal of this thesis is to find out as much information as possible about organists and choirs of St. Lawrence's church in Náchod. Organists-schoolmasters from the 17th to the 19th century are mentioned in here. The thesis deals with the 20th century in more detail, especially with its 2nd half. In the 20th century, musicians at the choir of St. Laurence's church were often inherently connected with the musical activity of the town. Some of them led Pěvecký sbor Hron (choir), conducted brass bands and orchestras or played the piano to accompany silent films. In the second half of the 20th century, some of the musicians had to face various persecutions of the communist regime at that time.
