Finite element approximation of fluid structure interaction using Taylor-Hood and Scott-Vogelius elements
Vacek, Karel ; Sváček, P.
This paper addresses the problem of fluid flow interacting a vibrating solid cylinder described by one degree of freedom system and with fixed airfoil. The problem is described by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations written in the arbitrary Eulerian-Lagrangian (ALE) formulation. The ALE mapping is constructed with the use of a pseudo-elastic approach. The flow problem is numerically approximated by the finite element method (FEM). For discretization of the fluid flow, the results obtained by both the Taylor-Hood (TH) element and the Scott-Vogelius (SV) finite element are compared. The TH element satisfies the Babuška-Brezzi inf-sup condition, which guarantees the stability of the scheme. In the case of the SV element the mesh, that is created as a barycentric refinement of regular triangulation, is used to satisfy the Babuška-Brezzi condition. The numerical results for two benchmark problems are shown.

Inter-caste differences in the anatomy of termite Embiratermes neotenicus (Termitidae: Syntermitinae)
Vacek, Kryštof ; Šobotník, Jan (advisor) ; Nakládal, Oto (referee)
I devote my thesis to the inner anatomy of termites, as exemplified by Embiratermes neotenicus (Blattodea: Termitoidea: Termitidae: Syntermitinae), in which I studied differences in particular inner organs between worker and soldier. In the first part I described the general body structure typical for sterile castes in termites. I deal with the development, structure, size and also with the purpose of individual organs. These are namely exocrine and endocrine glands, central nervous system, digestive system, fat body, respiratory and circulatory systems, gonads, and muscles. In practical part, I examined worker and soldier of Embiratermes neotenicus by means of optical microscopy. I successfully analysed the development of particular organs and the overall structure of the body. In the discussion section, I compare both castes and put my observations into a broader context.

Finnish music cultur
Vacek, Kristian ; Kotmel, Bohumil (advisor) ; Kotmel, Bohumil (advisor) ; Snítil, Václav (referee) ; Messiereur, Petr (referee)
Finnish modern music has been achieving remarkable success in the last few years both in Finland and abroad. My interest in Finnish music is obvious since I was living there nearly 17 years. In my work I present a brief overview of Finnish musical history and afterwards the most significant Finnish composers in chronological order. The information about composers contains only the most important facts about the composers' life and work. At the end of work there is a chronological table of all mentioned composers in appendix.
