Media education in teaching of history of the post-February Czechoslovakia (including the South Bohemian region)
VÁLKOVÁ, Jana
The presented thesis deals with the period 1948-1960 in Czechoslovakia in the teaching of history from the perspective of media education. Media education, as one of the cross-cutting themes of the Framework Educational Programmes, is conceived here mainly in terms of the influence of the media on public opinion. Based on the analysis of current history textbooks, the work deals with topics that are a suitable example of contemporary communist propaganda. Among the selected topics are political persecution, the currency reform of 1953, the reflection of propaganda in art and the campaign accompanying the fight against the potato beetle. The core of the work is the publication of materials, especially of a written and visual nature, which appropriately illustrate contemporary propaganda. At the very end of the work presents several model worksheets for teaching history, which are based on these materials.

The eharaeteristie features are expressed in such eultura! eategories as pereeption of a territory and the way of understanding the f1ight oftime. It is likely to be impossible to rea!ize the phenomena by the means of "objeetive" researeh. As a result of this, tbe thesis gives atlention to a "subjeetive" point of view. The unique way of understanding the universe and the symbol s of the Ioea! eulture are taken down. Tbe thesis is divided into three parts: Territory, Time and People. It eontains a survey of signi:fieant and remarkable sites that are found in the territory; notes of some narratives related to tbe plaees; a variety of ways of time pereeption; style of life on weekdays and holidays; reports on signi:fieant festiva!s and events, whieh took plaee during tbe eourse of tbe fieldwork (July 2004 - April 2007); definition of soeia! statuse s and roles in the loea!...
The development of Andrej Babiš's Czech from a second-language acquisition viewpoint
Benešovský, Vít ; Valková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Bozděchová, Ivana (referee)
This thesis deals with the develompent of Andrej Babiš's Czech. Babiš is a Slovak politician and businessman, who lives in the Czech Republic and whose speeches and media appearances have been part of Czech public discourse for the past few years. The aim of this thesis is to describe how Babiš's language changes over time and how Slovak interference influences it. Hypotheses focus on the number of errors in Babiš's speech, the specific types of errors he makes and the interlingual / intralingual error ratio. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces basic second-language acquisition terminology, which is later used in the practical part. The practical part consists mainly of an error analysis of recordings of interviews with Babiš. Lexical, syntactic, morphological, phonetic, phonological and other differences between Czech and Slovak, which are the source of negative language transfer in Babiš's Czech, are also described. The conclusion shows how parameters of the politician's speech changed over six years and offers an explanation of the change.
