A. Chačaturjan: Concert for Flute and Orchestra

My master´s thesis has a theme "A. Chačaturjan: Concert for Flute and Orchestra", because it was a part of my master´s concert. The first part of thesis is about composer Aram Chačaturjan, about his life and work. Next chapter is about flute concert, confrontation with violin concert and problems of interpretation and formal analysis. All thesis is continuously completed about photographs from composer´s life and pictures of notes. In the end of my thesis are three supplement - violin cadenza by A. Chačaturjan and D. Oistrach and flute cadenza by J. - P. Rampal.
Marcel Moyse

With this bachelor thesis I would like to introduce a remarkable French flutist, pedagogue and an author of worldwide played studies and etudes. In the first paragraphs I describe Moyse's life from the very tough beginnings and a musical childhood through the influence of important flute figures during his studies at the Conservatory of Paris. Furthermore, I concern his career development throughout his activities in Paris or Geneva and a settlement in America and, moreover, his movement during the World War. Last but not least I write about the very famous Masterclass of his. ?Moyse as a teacher? is a topic of the next chapter which represents the flutist's growth as a pedagogue, his way of teaching, the communication with students, and his own view of concrete flute techniques like tone, vibrato, interpretation etc. The next follows a part that is titled ?The Author?, where I describe his most famous collection of etudes and exercises. At the very end I present Moyse as an artist and very exceptional interpreter, I mention also his recordings and his ensemble - The Moyse Trio. All the chapters are completed by quotations of himself, his students, friends and family.
Flute concertos of 20th century

This bachelor´s thesis discusses development of flute concerto in its form before and during 20th century. For approximation of this topic it brings closer view on the six chosen concertos written during this period. These concertos are by J. Ibert, C. Nielsen, A. Jolivet, J. Feld, J. Rodrigo and L. Liebermann. There is also a list of composers (mostly foreigners) and their concertos that contain and use as well modern and classical compositional techniques and processes as new acoustic possibilities of modern flute.
Modern flute technics, music for flute in the 2nd half of the 20th century

The thesis focused on new technical possibilities in the flute playing in the second half of the 20th century. The thesis describes different kinds of notation in 20th century, types of flute effects (mikrointervals, harmonics, alternative fingerings, tone-colour trills, multifonics, efects with voice, glissando, key clicks, pizzicato, tongue ram, frulato, whistle tone, jet whistle, aeolian sound, circular breathing), their notation and shows concrete musical examples. There are also some information about several composers of the second half of the 20th century, these are concretly Toru Takemitsu, Luciano Berio, Isang Yun, Robert Dick, Ivo Medek and Vlastislav Matoušek.

This Master's thesis treatising of life and extensive work meaningful russia composer, Sergej Prokofjev. The first parts of work deal with his life, artistic progress, with his individual influance to artistic wordwide spheres and about his most advanced works too. For nearing Prokofjev's composer style I had choice Sonate for flute and piano n.2 in the second parts of the work.
The flute in Bohuslav Martinu´s chamber music works

The thesis is focused on the chamber music pieces with flute composed by Bohuslav Martinů. One of the sub-chapters is dedicated to Concert for Flute, Violin and Orchestra, but only because of its close connection to chamber pieces for these instruments. The chapter about the life of Bohuslav Martinů is brief and is focused only on the most important facts from this area. In the second chapter there are sonatas, trios, sextets, nonets, etc. and all those pieces have their own historical ? esthetic commentary, basic info about their origination, manuscripts, issues etc. For chosen pieces (Sonata for Flute, Violin and Piano, Sonata for Flute and Piano, Promenades, Sextet) there is dedicated detailed analysis, especially formal and harmonious analysis. The interpretative problems are also one of the goals I tried to achieve altogether with my points of view of these musical pieces and their interpretation
History of the Flute in the Chamber Music

You will find in this thesis partly a history of the flute and some composers of their era and their compositions of chamber music. There were very interesting few opening chapters for me personally, which engage with the oldest documented history of the flute. When I was writing this thesis I found a lot of new information, which could be interesting for you. It is possible you do not find there all of your answers for your questions, but I hope that this thesis is bringing you some new knowledge.
Flute Combined with Guitar

My bachelor work concerns the problem of chamber duo flute and guitar. In particular chapters I go into its history, I mention the best well-known authors and literature and I write about interpretation problems. I have drawn from my own experience. In the second part I concentrate on the musical personality of Argentine Tango ? Astor Piazzolla, his biography, works and contribution. In the last chapter I write about his composition "Histoire du Tango". I focus on its essential meaning and origin of composition and also on various ways of its interpretation.
F. Benda - Concert e moll - Golden age of flute

This study is analysis of František Benda´s flute concert e moll in connection with barocco and classicism. The study describes František Benda's live and his composing work. The development of cross flute during eighteenth century is summarized there. The golden age of cross flute is cought and authors are trying to clear the reasons of big boom of flute in that time. Authors also added some flute composition coming from that age.
Carl Nielsen and His Concert for Flute

This work deals with lesser-known composer (author) Carl Nielsen (living 1865-1931) who lived behind great heritage through his multifarious creation. At first he is advanced towards the readers not only as a composer.His biography desribes the course of his whole life including his private life. The work shows how variety and many-sided is his creation. The work hereafter is focused on his concerto for flute (1926), which belongs to his late and mature work. The concerto is formally analyzed too. Mentioned are the circumstances of the origin of the concerto , its interprets and so on. For the better acuracy of the analyze the orchestral score was used and not only short score. The aim of this work was to raise interest about the personality of Carl Nielsen and to advance him to others readers.
