Blood vessel segmentation and modeling in fundus images
Václavík, Jan ; Odstrčilík, Jan (referee) ; Kolář, Radim (advisor)
Studies of the vascular tree in the retina have applications not only in the medical field but also biometrics. The mathematical description of the retinal vasculature could help facilitate and improve the diagnosis of certain diseases, their automatic localization or to accelerate the identification and verification of individuals. The aim is to design and develop an algorithm that will automatically approximate major retinal vessels by parabolic, linear and kvartic functions. The main part of this thesis is therefore devoted to this issue, including vascular segmentation using Gabor filters, morphological erosion, thresholding, skeletonization and the resulting optimization of the approximation model. The quality of the produced algorithm is discussed in the summary.

Simulation of optical system of deposition controller
Doleček, Roman ; Pintr, Pavel ; Václavík, Jan
The report describes results of modeling of optical system which is component of optical monitoring system applied on machines for vacuum thin film deposition. Results were compared to real behavior of system, especially chromatic properties and total throughput. A numerical optimization, based on analysis results, was performed in order to improve throughput and ruggedness of the system.

Gallium Phosphide as a material for visible and infrared optics
Václavík, Jan ; Vápenka, David
Gallium phosphide is interesting material for optical system working in both visible and MWIR or LWIR spectral ranges. Number of a material available for these applications is limited. They are typically salts, fluorides or sulphides and usually exhibit unfavorable properties like brittleness; softness; solubility in water and small chemical resistance. Although GaP has do not offer best optical parameters excels over most other material in mechanical and chemical resistance. The article describes its most important characteristics and outlines some applications where GaP should prove useful
