Aktivita antioxidačních enzymů za různých patofyziologických stavů.
Vávrová, Lucie ; Tvrzická, Eva (advisor) ; Borovanský, Jan (referee) ; Oliyarnyk, Olena (referee)
Background: Oxidative stress is supposed to be implicated in the pathogenesis of several diseases which are connected with increased formation of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS). Oxidative stress could play an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammation and sepsis, acute and chronic pancreatitis or in the development of cancer. Organisms are protected against RONS from antioxidant system that is composed of antioxidant enzymes and non-enzymatic antioxidants. To the most important antioxidant enzymes belong superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and paraoxonase (PON). The aim of this Doctoral Thesis was to investigate the behaviour of three of these antioxidant enzymes - CuZnSOD, CAT and PON1 in different pathophysiological states. Materials and methods: The activities of CuZnSOD, CAT and PON1 were measured in six different pathophysiological states. Forty patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS), 35 women with depressive disorder (DD), 30 septic patients (SP), 50 patients with pancreatic cancer (PC), 50 patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and 13 patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) were included in different studies together with sex- and age-matched healthy controls (CON). Patients with AP and SP were observed in the course...

The significance of profession of an intercultural worker for social work in the Czech Republic: with focus on providing services for migrants in non-governmental non-profit organizations in Prague
Vávrová, Lucie ; Vodáčková, Daniela (advisor) ; Matoušek, Oldřich (referee)
in English The bachelor thesis deals with the importance of the profession of intercultural work for social work, with a specific focus on providing services to migrants, who are looking for help in non- state non-profit organizations in Prague. It describes the origins, approaches, resources and characteristics of the newly established profession, thus distinguishing intercultural work, but also interconnecting with social work. It also seeks to find out why migrants come to the Czech Republic, identifies differences in their motivation to migrate and points out the needs of this. These findings attempt to clarify the importance of intercultural work in the Czech Republic. The practical part consists of a questionnaire survey carried out among clients of the Arabic and Russian-speaking communities from the non-governmental non-profit organization Integrační centrum Praha, o.p.s. and intercultural workers from Integrační centrum Praha, o.p.s. and InBáze, z.s. Research presents comparisons of the views of intercultural workers themselves and their clients on the way and the use of services provided.
The Status of German as a Language of Science
Vávrová, Lucie ; Dovalil, Vít (advisor) ; Kaderka, Petr (referee)
In this thesis the languages in different types of scientific communication were estimated. The aim of this study was to determine the status of German language in the scientific communication. Firstly, the languages were found out in which the authors could publish and actually publish their manuscripts in the journals in the Czech Republic and in the German-speaking countries. Secondly, the languages were evaluated in which the authors present their conference papers. As another type of the scientific communication, those languages were estimated in which it is possible to study different disciplines, as well as foreign languages that are taught at universities. The results show that English has become the most important international language of the scientific communication and that German has lost its position in the international scientific communication. And to some extent German is also losing its position in the national scientific communication.
