Ideological and thematical concept of M. Matios' trilogy Cолодка Даруся. Нація. Майже ніколи не навпаки

This diploma work is devoted to the personality of contemporary Ukrainian writer Mariya Matios. Particular attention is focused on the analysis of her trilogy including Солодка Даруся, Нація and Майже ніколи не навпаки. The aim of this thesis is to explore ideological and thematic conception of novels and mechanisms used for their mediation. The introductory chapter presents a detailed analysis of the current literary process, issues of gender discourse in Ukrainian literature and characteristics of other discourses which the writer's works belong to. Based on this analysis the personality of Mariya Matios is included in the context of the current literature. The main part analyses specific topics of the trilogy and defines the specifics of author's attitude. The biggest attention is paid to the author's peculiarity in processing of historical issues, depiction of female characters and analysis of particular concepts (village people and sin) dominating in the trilogy. At the end her exceptionality and contribution to contemporary literature is evaluated.
The Element of Cyclization In Sergey Dovlatov's works

(anglicky) This bachelor thesis focuses on analysis of chosen works of Sergey Dovlatov based on a cycle theory. Key cycle theories, which are going to be used in our analysis, are explained in the work as well. Represented analysis of Sergey Dovlatov's cycle "The Suitcase" demonstrates how typical aspects of lyric cyclisation are working for prose. We may state that lyric cycle creating elements often work for prose as well, especially theme, plot and lexikon. Key words: cycle, Sergey Dovlatov, Russian Literature of the 20th century
Characters in Vasil Bykav's works

This bachelor thesis deals with literary analysis of characters in works of Belarusian writer Vasil Bykaŭ. Despite numerous translations, his works are not yet thoroughly researched in czech context. Primary this thesis is focused on contribution of the current narrative analysis which has been neglected. First chapter outlines Bykaŭ's works with emphasis on his approach to shaping the characters in the broader context of the main tendencies of Soviet war literature of the second half of the 20th century. The following chapter explains the most common procedures of the construction of Bykaŭ's characters and describes an analysis of other narrative categories which are essential for complete character modeling. The third chapter focuses on a brief typology of the characters appearing across Bykaŭ's works; in the centre of attention, there are the ways in which the author transforms and enriches the canonical index of socialist realism (war literature) characters.

Based on the analysis of the texts of the decadent poets I. Annensky, V. Bryusov, K. Hlaváček, O. Březina describes their individual models of space.

Content of bachelor thesis is the interpretation of drama Ladybirds are Coming Back to Earth (Божьи коровки возвращаются на землю) written by Russian playwright and new drama representative Vassily Sigarev. Drama interpretation was done by analysis of motif elements - space, which is both realistic and universal, childhood, that has a negative effect on characters' life, and violence, that is a dominant mean of communication.
The Concept of Magic Realism in Russian and Latin American Literature

The work dedicates to the conception of movement of magical realism in Russian literature in the second half of the past century. By way of introduction it defines magical realism from the chronological point of view, the model shape of its expression in Latin American literature in the middle of the past century. Afterwards it compares mentioned part with the schema of period literary scene in USSR and its supposed manifestations of magical fiction. In its analytical part the work by way of crucial storyline's motives of Chingiz Aitmatov's novel The day lasts more than a hundred years characterizes the connection between Kyrgyz author's artistic methods and Latin American literature of magical realism. Especially it concentrates on the polemic question whether it is possible from the formal point of view consider Aimatov's cited novel as a peculiar demonstration of Kyrgyz variant of magical fiction, parallel to paradigm of Latin American magical realism.
Provocation and breaking the stereotypes in the works of Juriy Vynnychuk

This bachelor work is devoted to the personality of contemporary Ukrainian writer Yuriy Vynnychuk. Particular attention is focused on that part of his work and his non-literary activities which are characterised by using provocation, mystification and breaking stereotypes. The aim of this thesis is, on the basis of these three key areas, to map all of his works which feature provocative elements, to attempt to create their typology and make a deeper analysis of selected works. The introductory chapter presents a detailed analysis of the current literary process, particularly of the elements that are focused on the destruction of the traditional canon. Based on this analysis Vynnychuk's works are included in the context of the current literature. The main part analyses specific works and Vynnychuk's approach is compared with other authors dealing with similar issues. At the end his exceptionality and contribution to contemporary literature is evaluated.
Nina Sadur as a playwright

The thesis deals with dramatic work of a contemporary Russian author Nina Sadur (writing since the mid-eighties). Its object is to present main features of her poetics primarily by interpretation of two selected plays - Morokob and Milenkii, ryzhenkii. The first play could be conceived as a metaphysic drama. Its analysis pays attention to two mutually connected levels - those of and of . The second play is based on an older Sadur's subject transposed from the former novel to a radio play. The thesis is concerned with the shifts of meaning caused by this transposition as well as with a critical discussion issued in 2003 and titled Who Is the Cute Little Redhead? exploring various layers of meaning of the novel/radio play. The next part summarizes the available secondary literature, specifies the focus of scholar interest, contains the essential bibliographic data of the author as well as the chronology of her dramas and it lastly mentions the issue of her subsumption under one of the literary movements appearing in Russia since the end of the seventies.
Arkadij Averchenko's humoristic proses

The thesis consists of an analysis of two selected humoristic stories by A. T. Averchenko and a critical discussion of their translations. The aim of the thesis is to compare two relatively new translations of the stories by Alena Moravkova (translation from 1998) and Libor Dvorak (translation from 2005). The attention is mainly given to the means of expressivity in the stories, analysed first in the original and then in the selected translations. The second chapter is devoted to the life and work of A. T. Avercenko. The third chapter is theoretical and focuses on the means of expressivity in colloquial Russian. The following chapters of the thesis draw on theoretical conclusions made in the theoretical chapter. The fourth chapter analyses the original text of the story A Stone on the Neck with a special focus upon the lexical, syntactical and morphological levels of expressivity used in the story. An attention is also given to the sources of humour in the story. The fifth and sixth chapter deal with the translations by A. Moravkova and L. Dvorak respectively. They present a critical discussion of the translations. Intepretation possibilities of the last four plays of A. P. Chekhov focused on Chekhov's reflection of Marcus Aurelius' philosophy

This diploma paper deals with Memories, the personal writings of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and their influence on the last four plays of A. P. Chekhov, which are The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, Three Sisters and The Cherry Orchard. It is insisting on the fact that Chekhov possessed and read an exemplar of Marcus Aurelius' Memories and enriched it with his personal comments and notes. The diploma paper is investigating philosophical schools of stoicism and platonism, the personality of Marcus Aurelius and his writings Memories, A. P. Chekhov both as an artist and a thinker, and it is investigating possibilities of revealing Marcus Aurelius' thoughts in the last four plays of Chekhov. It focuses on topics of cosmopolitism and atomization, work and inactiveness, good and evil, the ideas of future and meaning of life.
