Ways of creativity development in elementary mathematics education
Horáčková, Klára ; Tichá, Marie (advisor) ; Macháčková, Jana (referee)
3 TITLE: Ways of creativity development in elementary mathematics education SUMMARY: This thesis deals with creativity - from a general concept to a more specific perspective - creativity in mathematics lessons and textbooks at elementary schools in relation to the curriculum method and transformation of a number of textbooks towards unique teaching methods. The aim of this thesis is to describe the current situation on a selected sample of experimental groups - elementary school classes (two of them second year and three of them fourth year) which specialize on integration of pupils with specific learning and behavioral disabilities as well as extraordinarily talented pupils and thus provide the broadest possible range of pupils, which enables to find possible links between the used methods and creative teaching approach including creating one's own teaching materials and consequently searching for possible ways to develop creativity of pupils in relation to used methods, textbooks, other materials and forms of work. This thesis uses the following research methods: quantitative and qualitative research, empirical methods - observation, description, analysis. KEYWORDS: creativity, talent, imagination, originality, diagnosis, motivation
Inquiry based mathematics education: case of fractions
Podhajská, Kristýna ; Tichá, Marie (advisor) ; Novotná, Jarmila (referee)
The theoretical part deals with approaches to teaching, especially constructivistic, instructivistic and transmissive approach. The goal of this part is to compare the approaches and evaluate them considering the permanency of knowledge and active engagement of students. Simultaneously it aims at evaluating the approaches from the point of their of the mechanical knowledge. The charter dealing with inquiry based mathematics education is focused on teaching related to constructivistic approach. The next chapter describes tool called concept cartoons, which can be used as a mean to research. The theoretical part is focused on the topic of fraction, especially fraction interpretation and models and fraction representation. The second part of the thesis describes a survey realized at basic school. I narrowed the problem to fraction interpretation and representation according to survey of student's work. The next part of research is based on this analysis. Trying to accomplish the aims and find the answers to questions of the survey I chose strategy inspired by action research, because the main goal of the research was to improve and enhance my teaching knowledge and skills. The survey was processed qualitatively. The making of the thesis helped me make it clear, why the topic of fractions is so...
The effect of viral infection on glycosidases activity in tobacco plants (Nicotiana tabacum L.)
Kloudová, Kateřina ; Ryšlavá, Helena (advisor) ; Tichá, Marie (referee)
Glycosidases are widely distributed among microorganisms and fungi, in plants and animals, too. They belong to the hydrolase class, which means that they hydrolyze glycosidic linkages in oligosacharides, polysacharides and other glycokonjugates, as for example glycoproteins, glycolipids or some alkaloids. The role of plant glycosidases has not been made clear till now, so that it is a subject of many studies as well as their characterization. The studied functions are the role during seed germination, during fruit ripening and softening and in defence against biotic and abiotic stress, too. Under biotic-stress, plants synthesize so-called pathogenesis-related proteins (PRP). It was found out that chitinases and β-1,3-glucanaces, which are endoglycosidases, act as PRPs in tobacco leaves. The goal of my work was to find out whether exoglycosidases (α- galactosidase, β-galactosidase, α-glucosidase, β-glucosidase, β-hexosaminidase and α- mannosidase) can also act in defence against biotic stress. I studied the effect of infection in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Petit Havana SR1) leaves caused by Potato virus Y (PVY) on glycosidases activity. I examined the activity in control and infected tobacco leaves, in both cases the activity of soluble and membrane associated glycosidases was examined. I...
Using the system of StereoBalance for training mechanisms of stabilization
Brázdilová, Kateřina ; Tichá, Marie (advisor) ; Jeníček, Jakub (referee)
Author's first name and surname: Kateřina Brázdilová Bachelor thesis supervizor: MUDr. Marie Tichá Oponent: Title of bachelor thesis: Using the system of StereoBalance for training mechanisms of stabilization. Abstract: The bachelor thesis is focused on disorders of postural stability of patients after brain damage. The brain damage is classified as very serious health condition, which can be caused by traumatic brain injuries, post-stroke or as a consequences of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, etc. The brain damage may develop disorder of postural stability, which is manifested by feelings of insecurity of standing, walking, increased frequency of falls and dizziness. This work is not based on classical physiotherapy techniques. Aplication of this therapy uses stabilometric platforms and 3D scenes in virtual reality. The therapy consists of testing the stability of standing and therapy in program StereoBalance. Therapies were absolved by two patiens post-stroke. To be able to compare the results of patients with postural stability disorder, healthy population was also examined (10 probands). The aim of the study is to determine the effect of this therapy in program StereoBalance on postural stability disorders. Key words: Postural stability, stroke, stabilometry, virtual reality, stabilometric...
Objective assessment of stability disorders in patients after brain damage
Studená, Vendula ; Tichá, Marie (advisor) ; Jeníček, Jakub (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with virtual reality balance therapy. The therapy focuses on chronic patient after brain damage. The first - theoretical part of the thesis contains especially definitions of biofeedback and virtual relality. It analyses possibilities of balance testing in detail. The second - practical part of the thesis includes description of a virtual environment developed at the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering of Czech Technical University and Charles University in Prague. The input and output examinations of two patients are compared and results of the therapy are evaluated. The examinations consist of subjective MiniBESTest and objective posturographic Complete Static Sensory Organization Test (CSSOT) and Faller Assessment. An objectification of the instantaneous effect of the therapy is evaluated by virtual reality games. The discusion compares patient's and control group's examination findings. The results of the MiniBESTest, CSSOT and velocity of movement in virtual enviroment show improvement in postural stability. Key words: virtual reality, postural stability, balance testing, posturography, brain damage, balance board
Developing activity and creativity in teaching fractions in grades 6 to 7
Svobodová, Lenka ; Tichá, Marie (advisor) ; Novotná, Jarmila (referee)
TITLE: Developing activity and creativity in teaching fractions in grades 6 to 7 AUTHOR: Bc. Lenka Svobodová DEPARTMENT: Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Education SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Marie Tichá, CSc. ABSTRACT: The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part looks at the cognitive process of pupils and possible ways of their motivation during fractions teaching. Furthermore, it outlines causes of lack of understanding of fractions and re-education interventions. The empirical part is based on a qualitative research whose main objective was to determine how the pupils are able to solve fractions exercises independently and creatively and what mistakes they make. Various methods of data collection were used, such as interview with teachers on issues of fractions teaching in elementary schools, non- standardised test with fractions exercises and additional interview with the tested pupils. This part also describes the preparation of the research, the research itself and its results KEYWORDS: fractions, interpretations, representations, models, misunderstandings, mistakes, teaching approaches
