Lipids - Creating Animations to Support Education in the Natural Sciences

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of lipids and it is focused on the processing in the form of educational materials (educational text and educational animations) for chemistry and biology on secondary school. It is devided into two parts. The theoretical part defines the key concepts serving as theoretical background: interdisciplinarity, visualization, animation. There is also performed the analysis of RVP G and the representation of the topic of the diploma thesis in this curricular document. The final chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to determing the criteria for the analysis of the educational materials and the characteristics of the animation program Adobe Animate CC. The analysis of available educational materials is performed according to predetermined criteria in the practical part, specifically animations available on the Internet. There are also introduced the educational materials so as the complex file of educational animations created in the program Adobe Animate CC and the educational text that serves as a guiding material to educational animation program. Escape Games in Chemistry Lessons

The bachelor's thesis focuses on escape-room games as a part of the teaching of chemistry. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts such as didactic game, gamification, LARP, eduLARP and escape-room games. Furthermore, the principle of escape-room games and the principles of safety when playing them are described in this part of thesis. Additionally, the list of companies from the Czech Republic offering escape-room games with an educational goal is included at the end of the theoretical part as well as a description of three escape-room games which were used in education abroad. In the practical part, two proposals for escape- room games are presented. The first game is designed for pupils in the second year of a high schools and the second game is designed for pupils in primary schools or lower grades of general high schools.
The use of mobile applications in the teaching of chemistry

The diploma thesis focuses on teaching of Chemistry using mobile phones at primary and secondary schools. The theoretical part is dedicated to the research articles and final theses focused on the topic. Moreover, this thesis shows whether and how school curricula and school regulations dedicate to the topic of mobile phones in education. The practical part of the thesis introduces a research of available chemical educational applications and also an analysis of chosen applications based on predetermined criteria. All of the researched applications are divided according to their topics and arranged in a table summarizing their main content. Furthermore, this thesis describes a trial lesson with implementation of mobile phones and its evaluation. This part also includes all materials used in the pedagogical experiment.
The visualization of basic shapes of organic molecules

This bachelor thesis focuses on teaching using visualization of shapes of molecules in organic chemistry in contexts with orbitals at grammar schools. The theoretical part explores the classification of the topic in the Czech Framework Education Programme as well as in selected grammar school curricula. Within the content of the visualization, the emphasis is placed on molecules of alkanes, alkenes and alkynes, bonds (single, double and triple bonds) and the association with molecular orbitals and hybridization. The theoretical part also dedicates to a set of criteria for analysis of didactic materials. The practical part devotes to evaluation of selected didactic materials (textbooks, mobile applications for smartphones, websites and videos). The analysis was based on criteria given in the theoretical part. The practical part deals more deeply with the practical processing of lesson which devotes to the topic of shapes of molecules and bonds. The visualisation of molecules plays a key role in the proposed lesson plan.

The main object of thesis is to do a survey and to analyse curricular documents and chemistry textbooks. Representative sample was chosen at the basis of stratified choice. Pedagogical research methods were used to analyse and evaluate data. Results were evaluated and discussed. A serious game based on nomenclature of organic chemistry was designed on the base of discovered facts. Some minor disproportions were discovered between School Educational Programmes and Framework Educational Programme.
Isomerism in Chemical Education

The bachelor thesis focuses on isomerism teaching at secondary schools. The theoretical part is dedicated to the research of educational materials and the classification of the topic within RVP G and chosen school curricula. In the practical part of the thesis, a powerpoint presentation with rotating 3D models of molecules is created. The presentation is accompanied by didactical materials, suggestions of implementation into the educational process as well as its relations with other topics of organic chemistry. Within the practical part, proposals of activities concerning isomerism are included. In the presented didactical materials, fixation of the spatial imagination of structure of organic molecules is strengthened.
Inquiry-Based Science Education in Chemistry Teaching and Learning

This thesis deals with the Inquiry-Based Science Education. In the theoretical part, the characteristics and general principles of the Inquiry-Based Science Education are summarized from the available sources. Likewise its benefits and pitfalls in the introduction to schools are discussed. The work also points out to the support of The Framework Educational Programme for Secondary General Education for the inclusion of this method into the science education. On the basis of several criteria, the work analyzes previously established chemical inquiry-based tasks that are part of final thesis or some projects supporting the enlightenment of the Inquiry-Based Science Education in the Czech environment. In the practical part, the teachers using this method in science educations are interviewed and their practical experience is compared with the available information from the literature on Inquiry-Based Science Education. Finally, author of this thesis verifies the inquiry-based task in practice and presents her experience with this method. Structure of Monosaccharides in Chemical Education

This thesis deals with the topic of monosaccharides structure and it is focused on the processing in the form of educational materials for secondary school. It is devided into two parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of curricular documents - Framework Educational Programmes and School Educational Programmes, then the analysis of secondary school textbooks and other educational materials. There is also the analysis of videos and animations. The practical part presents educational materials in the form of PowerPoint presentation and flash animations. There are also didactic notes which serve as a manual for lessons of chemistry on secondary school.
Preparation of new didactic materials to support science education at the preschool and primary level

The diploma thesis is focused on the development of natural science literacy of pre-school age children and pupils of younger school age. The aim of this thesis is didactic processing of materials which will enable teachers/lecturers/parents to develop natural science literacy of children, without themselves having to have education in chemistry for correct understanding of the experiment, and thanks to which, at the same time, they could pass on the correct information to children in such way that prevents from the occurrence of natural science misconceptions to a maximum possible extent. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to child ontogenesis in pre-school and early school age, which is subsequently reflected in the creation of materials for development of natural science literacy of this target age category of children. The theoretical work includes also the characterisation of the term natural science literacy as a possible tool for increasing interest in the study of natural sciences. It states the expected positives, but also possible negatives, especially in the form of resulting misconceptions which can be associated to the introduction of natural science education for younger children.
