Report on the mapping of the occurence of the Chinese sleeper (Percottus glenii) in the basin of the Osecký and Voldušský stream at Osek u Rokycan
Muška, Milan ; Tušer, Michal ; Holubová, Michaela
Mapping of the occurrence of Chinese sleeper (Perccottus glenii) was carried out at 15 locations in the Osec and Voldušské creek basins, with the aim of checking as many locations as possible with the potential occurrence of Perccottus glenii.

spontaneous development of populations and the influence of human interventions. For situations where a certain part of the fish population needs to be caught, within the project 'Biomanipulation as a tool for improving the water quality of reservoirs', we tested the available approaches in terms of their effectiveness and difficulty. The target species of catches were mainly cyprinid fish (bream, bleak, roach, rudd, white bream), which feed mainly\non zooplankton and tend to form very large populations. Among the most effective methods of catch during spawning are catches using electrofishing boats and fyke nets. In the non-spawning period, it is possible to carry out mass catches using trawl nets. Catches are effective both before spawning (in April) and during the summer. However, with repeated catches in the same places, their effectiveness decreases as a result of the fish being spooked. The efficiency of the catches partially improves again if the catches are repeated with a break of approximately 1–2 weeks. Catches also vary according to the stocking density of a given water body. With effective catches, the cost of catching 1 kg of fish is in the range of CZK 15–50.
Hydroacoustic assessment of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in 2019.
Tušer, Michal ; Muška, Milan
The presented report summurizes results of hydroacoustic surveys in Lake Balaton, including both littoral and open-water regions in all three basins of the lake. The report is describing the spatial distribution and size-composition of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in autumn 2019. The results are presented in terms of fish density, biomass and fish size distribution for particular hydroacoustic transects and lake basins. In the report are summarized all available data from previous hydroacoustic surveys and the development of fish stock is discussed.
Hydroacoustic assessment of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in 2017
Tušer, Michal ; Muška, Milan
This report describes a study of open-water fish assemblage in Lake Balaton, Hungary, in 2017. The lake was acoustically surveyed using two horizontally-oriented 120 kHz transducers. The observed fish stock was assessed on the basis of fish sizes, abundance, biomass, and spatial distribution in the lake.
Report from the monitoring of Danubian spined loach (Cobitis elongatoides) populations in special areas of conservation of Nová Říše and Podtrosecká údolí
Blabolil, Petr ; Bartoň, Daniel ; Kočvara, Luboš ; Tušer, Michal ; Vejřík, Lukáš
The aim of the study was to carry out a monitoring of the Danubian spined loach populations in several localities of selected and nearby areas. In all localities, fish sampling was carried out by the generator powered electrofisher and traps, the basic parameters of fish populations and environmental characteristics were described.

The Czech multimetric fish based index (CZ-FBI) was developed recently. The aim of CZ-FBI is to assess the ecological potential of heavily modified and artificial water bodies and to detect ecosystems, particularly their specific components, in unsatisfactory conditions. This article describes steps of CZ-FBI development. Since the philosophy used, particular events presenting the results, to recent stage. CZ-FBI is a part of certified methodology of the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic and the comparison with other assessment methodologies within a geographical intercalibration group is in process.
Monitoring of fish populations in Vltava River, quantification of fish migration from reservoir into Vltava River.
Muška, Milan ; Tušer, Michal
The aim of the study was to quantify fish migration activities between Lipno Reservoir body and Vltava River with special emphasis put on description of the dynamics of migratory processes, estimation of abundance of migrating fish and evaluation of the influence of migrants from reservoir on autochthonous river fish community.
Hydroacoustic assessment of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in 2014
Tušer, Michal ; Muška, Milan
The objective of this project was to survey fish assemblage in Lake Balaton using 120 kHz acoustics to estimate fish quantity in open water at night. In addition, the results from this work could further help answer what a proportion of Asian carps might occupy the waters of Lake Balaton based on the resultant size distribution of observed targets.
