Prediction of senzitization to intergranular corrosion in AISI 316L stainless steel

Sensitization of stainless steels AISI 316L to integranular corrosion was studied by comparison of microstructural examination and electrochemical corrosion tests. It is shown that the normalization of chromium depletion and results of the Double Loop Electrochemical Potentiokinetic Reactivation gave mutually comparable results.
Microstructural study of plasma sprayed coatings on Ni-Cr-Al alloys

The microstructure of CoCrAlY, NiCrAlY and CoCrNiWFe plasma sprayed coatings was studied by analytical TEM in the initial state and after thermal treatment. Annealing at 1173 K resulted in precipitation of fine Al-rich particles and formation of Al-depleted zone near the interface.

Microstructural changes in creep of TAF 650 steel at 650řC

The microstructure of high chromium martensitic steel TAF 650 was quantified by transmission electron microscopy and image analysis in virgin condition and after creep at 650řC for 4379 and 5888 h where marked decrease in time to fracture occurred. It is concluded that preferential recovery of regions without subgrains in virgin conditions and pronounced coarsening of Laves phase Fe2W, are responsible for an observed decrease in creep life.
