Assessing the Financial Efficiency of a Company Using Time Series Analysis

This bachelor’s thesis aims to analyze business performance using time series based on selected indicators. The first half of the work focuses on the theoretical basis used for calculations of the time series. In the second half of the work is dealt with practical part. First, here is characterized by the selected firm and are analyzed by selected economic indicators in the evaluation. In the end are calculated for the future forecasts and designed directions, that the company can take.
Leisure activities of a selected segment of residents in Mladá Boleslav

This bachelor thesis is focused on posibilities of spending free time and availability of free time activities in industrial town Mladá Boleslav. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the activities that are available in the town and the quality of the free time activities offered to different groups of children of different ages. The conclusion concentrates on possible improvement of these acitvities in the future. To achieve the stated aims different methods are used. The methods include reasearch of literature specialized in history, development and philosophical ideas connected to free time, field data collection in the form of mapping of the important locations, data based on questionnaries, work with publicly available resources and data collected from structure interviews. All data used in this thesis were collected by the author himself and data of Czech statistical office and Municipality of the town Mladá Boleslav were added as well. The thesis concludes that there is a great amount of free time activities available. However, the town should focus on searching for new places suitable for free time activities that can be used by families and their children. Also promotion of these institutions focusing on free time activities should be improved.
Potential and use of free time in Mlada Boleslav

This bachelor thesis is focused on posibilities of spending free time and availability of free time activities in industrial town Mladá Boleslav. The conclusion concentrates on possible improvement of these acitvities in the future. To achieve the stated aims different methods are used. The methods include reasearch of literature specialized in history, development and philosophical ideas connected to free time, field data collection in the form of mapping of the important locations, work with publicly available resources and data collected from structure interviews. All data used in this thesis were collected by the author himself and data of Czech statistical office and Municipality of the town Mladá Boleslav were added as well. The thesis concludes that there is a great amount of free time activities available. However, the town should focus on better multicultural connection among the citizens living in Mladá Boleslav. Contribution of gag region to overall HIV replicative fitness in patients with different disease progression

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is globally spread virus without available cure. Since its life-long presence, virus is carefully monitored as well as patient's immunological status. Replicative fitness of the virus is one of important aspects which can be taken into account, when monitoring HIV. Here, we are measuring HIV replicative fitness of gag recombinant viruses and comparing the results with replicative fitness of primary isolates. Further, we are comparing our findings of replicative fitness change over time with disease progression in the patient. We found that gag can be major contributor to overall fitness, although not in all cases. Additionally, we observed a correlation of replicative fitness development and slope of patient's CD4+ T cells. Moreover, this relation was even more noticeable in patients with slow disease progression or in carriers of protective alleles. In summary, our results extend the understanding of replicative fitness and its role in disease progression; and pave the way to use the recombinant HIV for replicative fitness measurement in clinical practice. Degradation of mechanical properties of magnesium alloy

In this study, biodegradation behaviour of WE43 magnesium alloy have been studied and compared during exposure to three different media commonly used to simulate the conditions of human body environment. Magnesium alloys emerged as a new class of bioresorbable implant materials. Their applications reduce certain risks associated with conventional permanent implants. Biodegradation behaviour of the WE43 magnesium alloy was observed under Dulbecco Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM, Sigma Aldrich) supplemented with 5 % fetal bovine serum and gentamicin antibiotic as standard. The samples were stored in the medium at 37 degrees C and in a 5 % CO2 atmosphere. The second type of medium was Hank's Salt Balanced Solution (HBSS, Sigma Aldrich), which simulates the inorganic composition of blood plasma. HBSS was tempered at 37 degrees C. The last solution was an acidic solution of HCl + NaCl (pH2) with pH similar to 2 (0.01M HCl and 0.14M NaCl) tempered at 37 degrees C. The acidic type of solution was used to simulate a local acidic environment associated with osteoclast activity during bone remodelling. Changes in the mechanical properties of the samples during exposure to simulated body conditions were observed.
Mechanical and structural properties of collagen nanofribrous layers under simulated body conditions

The theme of this paper is the analysis of mechanical and structural properties of nanofibrous COL under simulated body conditions and in the presence of osteoblasts and dermal fibroblasts. COL were prepared by electrostatic spinning of 8 wt% collagen type I dispersion with 8 wt% (to COL) of PEG in phosphate buffer/ethanol solution (1/1 vol). The stability of COL was enhanced by means of cross-linking with EDC and NHS at a molar ratio of 4:1. COL were exposed in culture medium for 21 days and human SAOS-2 human dermal fibroblasts and osteoblasts were cultured therein for 21 days as well.
A COMPARISON OF THE CENTRIFUGAL FORCE SPINNING AND ELECTROSPINNING OF COLLAGEN UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONS

Collagen makes up one of the most important parts of the extracellular matrix and connective tissue. Collagen type I accounts for up to 90% of the collagen found in the body and it can be isolated and purified in large quantities and processed into a variety of forms. With respect to the process of the treatment of collagen into the nano-fibrous and submicron-fibrous forms, severe conditions leading to the denaturation of the collagen and thus the gelatin content should be avoided. Centrifugal force spinning and electrospinning processes appear to present promising methods for the spinning of collagen solutions. This paper deals with a comparison of the various methods applied in the processing of collagen, i.e. principally needle and needleless centrifugal spinning technology and electrospinning technology. In addition, the effect of process parameters and collagen solution conditions on the final form of the material was analyzed. Spun layers were prepared based on collagen type I isolated from calf skin. Nano-structured layers were prepared employing the spinning of 4-16 wt% collagen solutions in phosphate buffer saline and ethanol. The layers thus prepared were characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
Optimizing and Evaluating the Biocompatibility of Fiber Composites with CaP Additives

Composite materials based on a polyamide fabric (aramid) and a polydymethyl-siloxane (PDMS) matrix were designed for application in bone surgery. In order to increase the bioactivity, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 vol. % of nano/micro hydroxyapatite (HA) and tricalcium phosphate (TCP) were added. The effect of the additives on the biocompatibility was studied. It appears that nano additives have a more favorable effect than micro particles on mechanical properties. For final application of the composites as substitutes for bone tissues, 15 vol. % of nano hydroxyapatite additives is an optimum amount: in this case both the mechanical properties and the biological properties are optimized without distinct changes in the inner structure of the composite.

The role of Interferon regulatory factors in virus infections

Viruses are intracellular parasites, which expose their proteins and nucleic acids during their interaction with a cell. Thanks to co-evolution the host immune system developed mechanims how to recognize these components and subsequently activate defensive mechanisms. This work summarizes the knowledge about selected transcription factors with interferon regulatory function. Induction of the antiviral state is complicated and strictly regulated process. Primary function of selected transcription factors is to connect virus detection and synthesis of cellular molecules with antiviral potential. The work includes information about the direct interaction of viral proteins with interferon regulatory factors. These facts enable us insight into the molecular struggle between a host and a virus. As the name of factors suggests, the most important function is to influence the interferon production. Gathering of information about coordination of the immune system is beneficial for humane medicine and future therapeutic purposes.
