We reveal the mechanism of Ge nanoparticles (NPs) formation on the surface of the hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) deposited by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) on ITO and a on boron doped nanocrystalline diamond (BDD). The coating of Ge NPs on a-Si:H was performed by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) at temperatures up to 450 °C. The Ge NPs were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The nanocrystalline Ge particles are conglomerates of nanocrystals of size 10-15 nm and quantum dots (QDs) with size below 2 nm embedded in amorphous Ge phase. After coating with Ge NPs the a-Si:H thin films show better adhesion on BDD substrates then on ITO substrates.

ZnO is an attractive wide band gap semiconductor with large exciton binding energy, high refractive index, high biocompatibility and diversety of nanostructure shapes which makes it suitable for many applications in the optoelectronic devices, optical sensors, and biosensors. We study the effect of hydrogen plasma treatment of the nominally undoped ZnO thin film deposited by DC reactive magnetron sputtering of Zn target in the gas mixture of argon and oxygen plasma. The SEM images show that the crystal size increases with film thickness. We confirm, that the electrical conductivity significantly increases after hydrogen plasma treatment by 4 orders of magnitude. Moreover, the increase of the infrared optical absorption, related to free carrier concentration, was detected below the optical absorption edge by the photothermal deflection spectroscopy.\n

The DC reactive magnetron sputtering of metallic target in oxide atmosphere is a simple method of depositing the intrinsic (undoped) nanocrystalline layers of metal oxides. We have optimized the deposition of the intrinsic ZnO thin films with submicron thickness 50-500 nm on fused silica glass substrates and investigated the localized defect states below the optical absorption edge down to 0.01 % using photothermal deflection spectroscopy from UV to IR. We have shown that the defect density, the optical absorptance and the related optical attenuation in planar waveguides can be significantly reduced by annealing in air at 400 °C.
Strike media at Charles University during the Velvet Revolution 1989
Stuchlík, Jakub ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to find all available media published by strike committees at the Charles University and at other universities, to describe them and to compare them with the official daily and each other. Moreover, the publishers of those media should have been contacted with the request for interview. However, after discussion with my supervisor, interviews with publishers and editors were not done, because of complexity and scope of the thesis. The thesis summarizes activities of students during the Velvet Revolution of 1989 and focuses on student newsletters and magazines that were published by student strike committees and other independent student associations during the time of the revolution. Eleven media published in Prague, Pilsen and Olomouc are described. The described magazines are the following ones: Čaje o páté, EM89, Informační bulletin, Nezávislí, Plzeňský student, Proto, Přetlak, Reflex, Růžové právo, Situace 89 and Skoba. In addition, individual journals are compared with each other. Firstly the journals from the Charles University and secondly the other magazines. One subchapter deals with comparison of students' media with the official daily Rudé právo, which was the most read newspaper in Czechoslovakia by that time.

Volunteering and motivation of volunteers for cooperation with people with long-term mental illness (in some organisations in Prague)
Šimková, Romana ; Probstová, Václava (advisor) ; Stuchlík, Jan (referee)
The volunteering is an indespensable phenomenon not just worldwide but also in the Czech Republic, especially in recent years. It has lost its negative reputation acquired in the socialist era and it is continously getting more respect and credit in the eyes of society. It is not just the youth or students, who decide to dedicate their time to the others. The volunteering is effectuated in many areas, the projects focus on different problems or support various target groups. This thesis treats of volunteering in the area of mental health support and presents organisations, which help clients with long-term mental illness and which cooperate with volunteers. Who are the people who volunteer in this area and what is their motivation to work with clients? Because of the fact that the projects are mostly unique, it is interesting to find out, how the organisations recruit the volunteers and what the main motivation reasons for volunteers are. The target of this survey, on which volunteers of 3 different organisations participated, was to find out what reasons for volunteering they had, what encouraged them and what support they expected from the volunteering program of the organisation. Key words: volunteering, volunteer, people with long-term mental illness, motivation of volunteers
Contacts and communications at the turn of early and middle bronze age. The hilltop fortified site at Bánov near Uherský Brod
Chmela, Tomáš ; Stuchlík, Jan (referee) ; Bláhová, Zuzana (advisor)
The goal of this work is to provide a new focus on the hilltop fortified settlement in Bánov, near Uherský Brod (eastern part of the Czech republic). On the ground of the research in 1948 we present the material culture and confirm the dating of the location typicaly into classical phase of Maďarovce-Věteřov culture. Besides the typological-chronological analysis of ceramics was also characterized pottery technology. The whole work is based on interdisciplinary approach towards material culture. Thanks to this we could focus on archaeological contact studies. We conducted micropetrographical analysis of wide amount of ceramical artefacts. From the provenance research point of view we provided following: determinded the ceramics made Banov settlement (heavy clay ware and fine ware); proved local production of some vessels of "foreign style". Based on the detailed analysis of imported ceramic material, we provided a model hypothesis about the existance of two basic interaction levels, in which was fortified settlement in Banov naturally engaged. We mean the economical contacts (represented by exchange of goods) and social contacts (represented by gift exchange).
Psychiatric vocational rehabilitation programs for persons with severe mental illness
The image of a the city in contemporary Croatian authors' writings. Edo Popović's and Robert Perišić's Zagreb - reality or illusion
Stuchlík, Jan ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Stehlík, Petr (referee)
The thesis The Image of the City in the Contemporary Authors' Writings-Edo Popović's and Robert Perišić's Zagreb-reality or illusion is a literary-culturological study of the image of the Croatian capital city Zagreb in the literary work of the contemporary Croatian authors Edo Popović and Robert Perišić. The thesis deals with the urban environment from sociological, cultural and literary aspects focusing on the situation in Croatia. The thesis illustrates the developement of the urban themes in the Croatian literature since the middle of the 19th century and their relation to similar themes in the world. Through the analysis of Edo Popović's and Robert Perišić's work the method which both authors use working with the urban subject is explicated, the features of Zagreb in their writings are outlined and last but not least the significance of their urban literature contextualized with other Croatian urban literature, characteristics of similar literature in Slovenia and at the European level in Great Britain are presented.
The space of the city: Turnov at the time and the space
Stuchlík, Jaroslav ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
The subject matter of the thesis is defined as a cultural analysis of urban planning in a specific, lesser-size town - the town of Turnov. In its first part, the text focuses on the historical circumstances of the town2s origins. It concentrates on the most important periods from the point of view of the present day layout of the town2s centre: the early Middle Ages - a period of town building; the late Renaissance period and the emerging Baroque era; the 19th century; and finally, the text recapitulates 20th century developments. The text analyses the natural and geographic conditions at a location where a new town was being formed; it follows the specific process of settlement centralization, transformation in building technologies and onset of masonry buildings, the impact of repeated disastrous fires on the town square2s appearance, not leaving out the social and political context. We briefly introduce the present day layout of the town2s centre. The following section continues on with a specific demonstration of a clearly defined - and throughout time, a remarkably stable - three-dimensional spatial structure of the town2s centre. Subsequently, we analyze the effect of this structure on the specific layout of the town square from the architectural, transportation and sociocultural point of view. In the...
