Manufacture of Artistic Castings

This bachelor’s thesis is focused on types of casting methods, which are or were used for the production of art objects. Chronological cross-section through history of art casting is made at first, which is followed by an analysis of the most common methods and techniques leading to the production of art castings. The following practical part of the bachelor’s thesis concerns itself with the production of a simple art casting. The lost-wax process was used for its fabrication.

Evaluation of porosity in gravity - cast Al - alloy castings

Solving of this diploma thesis is evaluation porosity in sequence on mechanical properties from different Al alloys. Castings were made by gravity casting to the iron-mould or gravity casting to the sand. Measurements (mechanical properties, porosity, DAS - dendrite arm spacing, shape factors and sphericity) were statistically analysed and dependencies which were detected were processed to the graphs.

This study deals with creating strategy of OFFICE PRO SERVICE Company. The work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. Based on acquired information, the analysis of the current situation of the company was conducted, which included defining some of problems facing the company and the possibilities of their improvement. Proposals of some measures and evaluation of the estimated benefit were established.

Investment casting - defects list

This bachelor thesis deals with defects which can occurred during investment casting process. In the first part, there is briefly described investment casting process in Alucast s.r.o. company. List of all defects occurring during manufacture is described in the second part. This catalog includes majority of defects from the cast proposal to finishing operations. There are also described causes, consequences and corrective actions.

At the end of each chapter you can meet with examples of using alloys in practice.

The author briefly focuses with technical pure aluminium, and then describes the characteristics, distribution and technology of aluminium alloys. After the basic characteristics of all major aluminium casting alloys, the author mentions the use of aluminium alloys in a variety of industrial sectors.

The vegetation succession of abandoned villages in České středohoří Mts.

The České středohoří mts. is a mountain range with an interesting geological history and rich history of the 20th century. The mountain range is of volcanic origin, and despite the relatively steep hills and high altitude, it was densely populated. The population of this territory was mainly of German origin, German-speaking and the territory was part of the so-called Sudetenland. After the World War II, the German population was displaced, and a large part of the villages disappeared despite efforts of repopulation. The landscape used to form a mosaic which is now disappearing. In the areas of the former Sudetenland, the expansion of secondary forests at the expense of original fields and meadows is a common condition, as in other places in Europe or North America. Secondary succession is a phenomenon that is influenced by several factors, such as soil moisture, nutrient content or degree of shading. Thanks to the higher pH of the subsoil and the higher nutrient content, the villages have more ruderal and nitrophilous species than the surrounding ancient/continual forests. The historical way of farming has a significant influence on the landscape, and the question is to what extent this influence is irreversible. Native cultures of America in the exposition of the Náprstek Museum

The thesis analyses the way in which American Indian cultures are presented to the public in the exposition of Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures. It maps the history of the museum's founding as well as the first Czech ethnographic collections. Its second part focuses on the exposition of North and South America cultures, explaining the origin of exhibits and putting them into the context of our knowledge of indigenous cultures. Finally the thesis evaluates the museum's exposition and offers proposals for change.
