Choral music in Albania
Rapaj, Mario ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Stříteská, Leona (referee)
This thesis discusses the development of Albanian choral music from the early 20th century to the present. It provides a general history of Albanian culture and politics as context for the rapid changes that happened during the 20th century and how that has influenced the musical life of the Albanian people. The significance of this influence is then represented and analyzed through the works of three prominent Albanian choral composers from different generations, whose lives and body of work span the last century. Through these analyses, we explore the evolution of Albanian choral music and how modern composers preserve traditional folk elements, yet are influenced by the cultural and political environment of their respective time.

Rapaj, Mario ; Pecháček, Stanislav (advisor) ; Stříteská, Leona (referee)
The importance of this thesis (project) lies in the fact that it highlights Albanian choral music. How was it created and established? What political and historical influences are reflected in Albanian music? Who are some of the most important primary composers of choral music in Albania and what are their compositions? Which were the first institutions and how they were developed? During what period did the development of choral music culminate and flourish? What is the current situation of choral music, its composition and artistic life in Albania, as well as existing choirs and their related institutions? My thesis tries to answer all of these questions.
Contemporary Trends of Protestant Liturgical Music in the Czech Republic
Dittrichová, Johana ; Stříteská, Leona (advisor) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee)
anglicky The diploma thesis Contemporary Trends of Protestant Liturgical Music in the Czech Republic deals mainly with both - musical and unmusical - element of contemporary praise and worship songs used at protestant Sunday services. The aim of praise and worship music in a Sunday service, is to give praise to God, as well as it was in biblical times. Therefore the first chapter of the thesis presents observations about music in the Bible and examines its connections to non-musical ways of praising God, which throws light upon the situation today. The part of the thesis which makes the reader familiar with current situation of protestant liturgical music in the Czech Republic, points out weaknesses in present-day song writing and shows a need of musical education for Christians, who take part in performing music at Church, compose songs and translate them from other languages. There is also a notable trend of adapting hymnbook songs, which therefore become friendlier to younger generation who prefers livelier music. Although there is not any board for protestant liturgical music, there are several influential personalities, whose view on various components of music liturgy and relationship to God's praise are presented in the third chapter. All of them agree on the fact that praising God through...

This diploma thesis called "The analysis of selected choral compositions by Jakub Jan Ryba" deals primarily with his religious works. The introductory chapter briefly describes Ryba's journey to music and the activity of a composer and the text is also based on Ryba's own biography published in 2005 titled My Life and Music. Both lists were compared with two electronic music databases: the catalogue of the department of music history, National Museum - the Czech Museum of Music and the musical incipit catalogue of the National Library of the Czech Republic. The electronic databases were further compared with the thematic catalogue which is a part of the monography titled Jakub Jan Ryba published in 1963. The object of interest was also the quantity of autographs and transcripts and the prints of the works by Jakub Jan Ryba which have been issued from the beginning of the 19th century till present. Regarding the results of the research, it was proved that only a part of Ryba's work has survived up till now since Ryba himself presents 1083 compositions, both...

Marian Songs of Sepekov
Farová, Marie ; Stříteská, Leona (advisor) ; Palkovská, Jana (referee)
The Marian songs of Sepekov is the title for a handwritten Hymnal, which nobody comprehensivly examined and never publish. I discovered this manuscript when I was researching materials for my Bacherol thesis. The hymnal contains 489 czech-language pages from which I composed 43 songs with the organs accompaniment or songs in a four-part adjustment. The transcript od melodic line, next processing of melody and composition of polyphony give the readers an insight into the period of the formation of manuscript and it zooms miracles for which the manuscript was created. The historical events, which were accured in 18th century in Sepekov and were an integral part of the life of people from sepekov, are component of Marian songs. The whole Hymnal is built on devotion, supplication, prayers and the love of the pilgrims to Pana Marie from Sepekov. The pilgrimages, which they performed to this marian's place, were a seal of approval of their belief and it was culmination of their spiritual life for most of them.
