The influence of the menstrual cycle on the sports performance of cyclists
Podskalská, Anna ; Jurák, Daniel (advisor) ; Soukupová, Vendula (referee)
Title: Influence of the menstrual cycle on the sports performance of female cyclists. Objectives: The aim of this work is to analyse the performance of female elite athletes in cycling in different phases of the menstrual cycle using a questionnaire survey and laboratory testing. And to find out whether menstrual cycle and its phases affect their sport performance. Methods: In our thesis we used two method. The first method was a non-standardized anonymous questionnaire sent to women who are or have been involved in cycling. The second method was a laboratory stress test of three female cyclists. We tested each proband during three phases of her menstrual cycle. During the menstrual, follicular and luteal phases. Results: We found that the menstrual cycle affects athletic performance. Based on the questionnaire we learned that they perceived the influence of the menstrual cycle on their sport performance, whether due to physical or psychological difficulties. Testing showed that during the follicular phase, all probands experienced an increase in maximal performance. At the same time, they all described their mood as cheerful and energetic. During the luteal phase, on the other hand, all probands experienced a decrease in maximum performance. At the same time, they defined their mood as neutral to...
The effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sports
Baumová, Nikola ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Soukupová, Vendula (referee)
Title: The effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sports Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sport using the results obtained from previous studies dealing with the effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sport. Methods: This thesis was carried out as a systematic review. Sources of information were scientific articles and studies from the PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost and EBSCOhost databases and literature related to the influence of the menstrual cycle on sports performance. Results: A total of 45 studies were selected for this study (9 cross-sectional, 33 cohort and 3 intervention studies). A total of 3086 probands (2364 from cross-sectional, 644 from cohort and 78 from intervention studies) aged 18 to 35 years were included. Conclusion: In most cases, no effect of MC on sports performance was found. If any effect was observed, the worst phase of MC for performance appeared to be the mid-luteal phase, while the best was the follicular phase. Monitoring motorical skills and abilities for girls 8-10 years old in the course of children's recreational aerobics
Soukupová, Vendula ; Holá, Iveta (advisor) ; Novotná, Viléma (referee)
Tittle: Monitoring motorical skills and abilities for girls 8-10 years old in the course of children's recreational aerobics Objective: Method: In order to achieve the aim of the work, the measurement of partial motorical skills and abilities was used based on the Iowa Brace test, the Eurofit test and the Unifit test 6-60. The results were analyzed by using mathematical-statistical methods. Results: Despite the small research set, the result in one test of four, which is quantitatively evaluated, was determined to be statistically significant. The other test results improved or came close to average values relative to the rest of the research population. The results of test exercises evaluating motorical skills, which were evaluated in a qualitative manner, have been positive. All skills have shown an increase in probands who have mastered them. Testing testifies about improving motorical skills and abilities after completing a course of children's recreational aerobics. Intensity of Bosu Strength lessons and Pilates method according to heart rate
Soukupová, Vendula ; Holá, Iveta (advisor) ; Vorálková, Jitka (referee)
Tittle: The intensity of the Bosu Strength lessons and Pilates method according to heart rate Objective: The objective is to determine the level of exercise intensity of Bosu Strength lessons and Pilates method through assessment of the dynamics of probands's heart rate. Method: Method of measuring heart rate through sport testers and written inquiries (specifically to detect weight, height, age, gender, any health ailments and frequency of sports activities per week) was used to reach the objective of this work Results: Set of information was acquired by measurement and questioning. These research data has served in the first phase for answering scientific questions raised in this work. Furthermore, it will be used as a working tool for the author of this work and for instructors of group lessons of Bosu and Pilates type. Conclusions will serve them to extend their knowledge about the reaction of the organism (by evaluating heart rate) for this type of lessons, particularly on the intensity of the lesson. The work will also serve as the basic building material for extension of the researched subject in a dissertation Keywords: Pilates method, Bosu Strength, heart rate, intensity, sporttester
