Sleep and the consequences of its lack on university students
Soukupová, Barbora ; Thorovská, Alena (advisor) ; Zvírotský, Michal (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is called Sleep and the consequences of its lack on university students. The work is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part are mentioned general characteristics of sleep, history, circadian rhythms, phases and meaning of sleep. Furthermore, attention is also paid to selected sleep disorders, possible causes, and finally the consequences that can occur during sleep deprivation. The practical part is carried out with the help of semi-structured interviews with respondents, followed by an analysis of the interviews, a comparison of individual data and a discussion in which the answers to the research questions are summarized and the results compared with the professional literature. The main goal was to find out the consequences of lack of sleep on university students, when it was found that the most common problems are with attention, memory and mood changes, as well as greater susceptibility to diseases. A partial goal investigated the possible causes that contribute to impaired sleep on university students. The research showed that the most common causes were stress and caffeine. Another partial goal was to find out how the quality of sleep subjectively changes in university students during the exam period. The results pointed to a reduction in sleep time, worsening...
Neurosonological markers of cognitive decline progression in patients with dementia
Soukupová Urbanová, Barbora ; Hort, Jakub (advisor) ; Školoudík, David (referee) ; Horáček, Jiří (referee)
Alzheimer's disease represents an important socio-economic problem worldwide. Its complex and not entirely clear pathophysiological mechanisms are subject of intensive research with the aim to identify the affected individuals very soon in the disease process and to find efficacious prevention or treatment. According to recent knowledge, a multifactorial microangiopathy plays a role in the disease development. Probably both traditional vascular risk factors as well as mechanisms linked to neurodegeneration with amyloid accumulation are the factors involved. This work presents a summary of up to date knowledge about Alzheimer's disease vascular risk factors, signs of vascular impairment on brain imaging and possible interactions of vascular and neurodegenerative pathophysiological pathways. It focuses on the neurosonological signs of brain vascular impairment and presents own outcomes in this research area. Using cross-sectional and longitudinal design, the study demonstrates functional impairment of brain microcirculation in patients with various cerebrovascular burdens and various degrees of cognitive decline and it identifies the most appropriate neurosonological parameter in the prediction of cognitive decline progression. On the same study sample it explores the association of other vascular...

Monitoring of the news' facebook pages via analytics pro during certain period
Soukupová, Barbora ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Kasík, Pavel (referee)
This work should show the importance of being able to utilize all the meanings of media that our world presents, keeping in touch with people subscribed to certain product, knowing its target audience and being able to give it as much as we possibly can. Are Czech online media capable of this path or are they just forgetting and missing the options? The term new media is still shifting and evolving as we witness new technology revelations. While the world is changing unbelievably fast we need to focus on those transformations and adapt to them, not fight them. But since there are always some who keep resisting innovations, we can see how their work differs from those who follow new manners. With help of Socialbakers and their Analytics PRO tool we will examine certain Czech news websites and see how they cope with social media, Facebook specifically. Their most popular posts will demonstrate the overall orientation of particular page and other metrics will reveal what can be or should be improved.
Compability of luxury and the concept of simple living
Soukupová, Barbora ; Machková, Hana (advisor) ; Tisovski, Marija (referee)
Is luxury consumption incompatible with simple living? ... or not? For most of the people the question and the answer are obvious. On the first sight, it seems that there is no compatibility at all. How can luxury that is often connected and used as a synonym for opulence, excessive useless things and so on be even placed in one sentence with such a frugal concept as simple living? The purpose of this thesis is to define the framework and the issues that arise when putting the two concepts together. The findings of the thesis can be treated in deeper research that can follow and be inspired by this thesis. In order to prove and explain the analytical part, the findings are applied on real life examples. The theoretical part defines what luxury is, what its specific attributes are and why it stands apart from the "traditional" marketing approach. What is more, the impact of internalization and globalization on the luxury products and services is particular and cannot be treated in the same manner as for the mass consumption brands. The second analytical part treats the concept of simple living, the common misunderstandings and the philosophy of the concept. The two concepts are then put together in order to search for some for the points in common and the incompatibilities. The last chapter is dedicated to a practical illustration of the theory stated. Five star spa hotel and forest retreat Chateau Mcely is used as an example of luxury meeting simple living in some areas. The hotel is briefly introduced starting with the history of the building and then the modern history of the today's hotel after it was acquired by the actual owners, Inéz and James Cusumano. The mission statement and the principal idea of the project are detailed same as is the marketing mix of Chateau Mcely. And finally, the sustainability and ways of creating it are presented in order to underline the symbiosis of luxurious hotel and simple living, at least in some domains.
Social services used by the elderly after having a cerebral hemorragie
SOUKUPOVÁ, Barbora
My bachelor thesis focuses on senior citizens after a stroke, their family members and their opportunities to use social services. The thesis examined also the awareness of such services and their availability in the Příbram district. The topic is very pressing as the occurrence of strokes worldwide is fairly high and in developed country it is causing a serious medical, social and economic problem. Senior citizens and their family members should know about the possibilities to utilize social services, so that they can achieve the highest possible level of independence and self {--} sufficiency in the home environment or so that their carers are provided with professional assistance. The theoretical part covers the issues of senior citizens and old age, stroke related issues, conditions, provision, funding and remuneration of social services, methods of care provided by the family and an overview of providers of social services for senior citizens in the district of Příbram. The research part of the bachelor thesis used a qualitative research, method of interviewing by means of questionnaires and standardized interviews. The research sample consisted of senior citizens or their family members who were approached by means of questionnaires. 120 questionnaires were distributed and 102 of them were returned, i.e. 18 questionnaires were not filled in. The return rate was 85 %. Interviews were conducted with 15 senior citizens at my workplace in the centre of care for long {--} term bedbound patients. The purpose of my work was to map the availability of the social services in the district of Příbram and the level of awareness of such services and their utilization among senior citizens. Hypothesis H: Senior citizens after a stroke are informed about the social services they can utilize. H1: Senior citizens after a stroke with the level of dependence 3 and higher prefer social services provided in residential facilities. It was found out that certain social services are missing in Příbram and some of the existing ones do not have sufficient capacities. The availability of social services is sufficient. The level of awareness among senior citizens and their family members is also at a good level. The evaluated questionnaires and interviews imply that senior citizens with the level of dependence 3 and higher mostly use the services provided in residential facilities. Based on the results the postulated hypotheses were positively confirmed and thus also the objective of this thesis.
The harmonization of family life and work within contemporary Czech society
SOUKUPOVÁ, Barbora
Over the last two decades, there has been many political, social, economical and cultural alterations that have brought a number of changes to the fabric of Czech society, equally effecting the workplace and family life. The aim of my work is to give a sociological review using my completed overview studies that reflect upon the consequences of these changes and mutually bind them between the workplace and family life. Using appropriate questions, the basis of my study is to discover how current conditions, particularly with women, compare with working and family responsibilities, e.g. what is the role of women in contemporary Czech society. My work also reflects upon how gender stereotypes emerge within the spheres of public and private life. Using carefully selected individuals, my work is further enriched with my own personal probing research, that observes how new conditions in the workplace reflect in people's private lives, how gender inequality continues in the workplace and how these two spheres bring influence and change to the fabric of Czech society.
