Design and analysis of single-phase induction machine

This thesis deals with the design issues of single-phase induction motors. The content is divided into several basic parts. The first chapter deals with the principle function of single-phase induction motors. In particular, the asymmetry of these machines discussed with regard to the importance of connecting the auxiliary stage and its character. The following part is devoted to the analytical calculation of specific single-phase two-pole motor. I analyzed two-pole motor because at that time there were not available data for six-pole motor from Siemens. The calculation is performed according to the literature, and the resulting parameters are then compared with the model of this motor created by RMxprt. There is model of six-pole induction motor created by Ansoft/Maxwell in third part. This model shows the influence of skew of the rotor slots on the torque of machine. Then I performed measurement of this motor and analyzed of results in the last part.

Quantified Self

The objective of this dissertation was to examine the impact of self-measurement technology on tracking physical activity (number of steps taken) in users' practice through exploratory qualitative research. The study was carried out on 11 university students, consisting of 6 male and 5 female participants, aged between 20 and 28 years. A quasi-experimental design and a Fitbit Zip self-measurement device were utilised; no randomisation of participants into the intervention group was implemented, and no control group was included in the research design. The NEO PI- 3 questionnaire was administered to measure the participants' personality traits. The findings furnish an initial qualitative understanding of the topic and indicate promising avenues for further examination. The impact of our intervention on participants' physical activity was not consistent, as some experienced an augmentation while others observed a reduction. Conclusions were drawn for only 5 participants. However, a variance comparison revealed distinct changes in physical activity patterns for each participant. Language of Interaction and Communication Design

The present work seeks to describe implicit patterns of natural language and cul- ture in human-computer interaction (HCI). Although extensive research has been done in the fields of HCI semiotics, and HCI culture, we try to bring novel insights through the semiotics perspective, and to propose a set of design guidelines for the international HCI practitioners. The steps to achieve this are: First, to define the semiotic and linguistic system of the user interface (UI) and create a related methodology, and second, to apply the acquired methodology to cross-cultural UI comparison. In the first part we propose a design and analytic method for ad- dressing UI language patterns. We defined the elements of the user-UI interaction grammar, which we then used to form our semiotic evaluation method. The semi- otic evaluation method is then compared to heuristic analysis which is already widely used in HCI. While our results show the complementarity of both the methods, semiotic analysis is able to uncover otherwise hidden aspects of the UI. The second part focuses on the ideology of the interaction. Normalized social distance

This dissertation thesis deals with the application of the concept of information distance to the social network data analysis. We consider this data as recorded acts of social action. As such, they express certain attitudes, values and intentions. We introduce a formula for calculating the Normalized Social Distance and, based on the series of case studies, we prove the usefulness and validity of this approach. The application of formal mathematical and computer science techniques to massive data records of human action in social network environments is enabled by the change brought by new media and the associated technological advancement. This change is accompanied by a gradual transition of research methods in the humanities, referred to as the onset of digital humanities. This approach is characterized by the application of quantitative methods in the field of humanities and the discovery of new data areas useful for analyses. In case of social media data, the differentiation between quantitative and qualitative methods is no longer valid. A good example is also this thesis, in which information theory specifically combines the methods of a traditional social network analysis and the Goffman's frame analysis of human action. Digital libraries with open access in science and research area and identification and metadata description of their objects

Thesis is devoted to the analysis of open accessible digital libraries in science and research and, at practical level, thesis puts Czech national metadata sets prepared within research and ETD digital libraries development in the Czech Republic. The second chapter presents terminology issues in digital libraries area and general models of digital libraries - "Kahn-Wilensky" architecture and Reference Model Open Archival Information System (OAIS) with special regard to institutional repositories. The third chapter contains the survey of development and current state of open access to information in science and research and its main resources including initiatives of its support. The fourth chapter presents selected systems of open access electronic archives or digital libraries in science and research. Included are selected systems and services in computer science, economics, library and information science, social science, the specific British system of internet resources Intute, digital libraries with citation services and ETDs digital libraries. The fifth chapter presents the outputs of research - Czech national metadata sets for ETDs description and communication with added issues of persistent identifiers of information entities. 3

Concepts of bridging the digital divides

Cílem této diplomové práce je zmapování fenoménu digitálních propastí (digital divide) a koncepcí, které přispívají k jejich překlenutí. Nejprve je zde pojednáno o vývoji informační společnosti a jím ovlivněném vývoji informační ekonomiky. Dále jsou podrobně definovány nejrůznější druhy digitálních propastí, jejich příčiny a oblasti vzniku. V následující kapitole jsou pak představeny možnosti, jalcymi jsou digitální propasti měřeny a zkoumány, a jsou zde uvedeny příldady nejznámějších průzkumů digitálních propastí. V závěrečné části jsou zdokumentovány a zhodnoceny koncepce, které překlenují tyto propasti. Nejprve v rámci Evropské unie, její přístup je porovnám s postojem k této problematice v USA. V poslední kapitole jsou pal<: zmíněny a zhodnoceny vládní a nevládní aktivity k přeldenutí digitálních propastí na území České republiky. Pro srovnání je zde také popsán přístup Estonska.

Project of printed law and fiscal resources bibliography with linkage to regulations

Práce je projektovou dokumentací k vývoji nového modulu systému právních informací ASPI. Modul Bibliografie je v systému ASPI zcela nový podsystém svého druhu. Zadání projektu vzniklo na základě analýzy vybraných segmentů trhu a následným požadavkem na doplnění komplexnosti systému. Uživatel si žádá podporu vlastní knihovny nebo archivu odborných periodik při rešerších, stejně jako referenční nástroj při hledání potřebných zdrojů pro svou práci. Byla vyvinuta bibliografie knih a článků z právní, daňové, účetní a pracovně-právní oblasti s vazbou na české předpisy, předpisy EU a rejstříková hesla, včetně anotací nakladatelů a časopisů. Zahrnuje komplexní retrospektivu článků vybraných časopisů a knih vybraných nakladatelů. V rámci projektu byly zajištěny mechanismy pro pravidelnou aktualizaci modulu, tj. doplňování přírůstků souběžné indexace. Řízené procesy projektového řízení uplatněné při návrhu, plánování, realizaci a vyhodnocení projektu vyšly zejména ze standardu PMBOOK. Práce popisuje životní cyklus celého projektu od zadání a definice projektu, přes plánovací analýzy činností, termínů, zdrojů a nákladů, implementační studie až po konečné vyhodnocení.

Analysis of implementation of 602XML solution designed to collect information from the information systems of the public administration in the Czech Republic

Cílem této diplomové práce je základní analýza nasazení komerčního produktu pro elektronický sběr dat prostřednictvím inteligentních XSL:FO formulářů (602XML Form Publishing) ve standardizovaném formátu v prostředí informačních systémů veřejné správy České republiky. Dále hodnotí významné prvky tohoto uplatnění v mezích současné informační politiky ČR, s výhledem na další rozvoj e-governmentu na úrovni národní i nadnárodní (EU). Diplomová práce podává také přehledný výklad o jmenované technologii, o její architektuře, aplikacích, technologických standardech, způsobech použití a konkurenčních řešeních. Práce analyzuje procesy komunikace subjektů veřejné správy s občany, při kterých je použito zmíněné technologie a jednotlivé systémy či portály, kde jsou publikovány formuláře vytvořené prostřednictvím licence k použití tohoto produktu, vlastněné daným subjektem veřejné správy. V závěru práce jsou navrhnuta východiska pro další rozvoj a uplatnění zmíněného produktu.

Registration of public activity in the Czech Republic: data processing, available information systems and their evaluation with the aspect of academic's needs

Tématem práce je agenda publikační činnosti v ČR z hlediska její evidence. V úvodu práce je uvedena základní legislativa a popsán Informační systém vědy a výzkumu v ČR. Práce popisuje systém sběru dat publikační činnosti a jejich zpracování ve vybraných institucích (Akademie věd ČR, Univerzita Palackého a Univerzita Jana Evangelisty Purkyně). V práci jsou vyjmenovány obecné požadavky na informační systémy publikační činnosti a jejich srovnání s osobními bibliografickými databázemi. Z hlediska funkčnosti jsou porovnány informační systémy Advanced Rapid Library a OBD Pro, které jsou implementovány ve výše uvedených institucích. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na dotazníkový průzkum, provedený mezi uživateli systémů Advanced Rapid Library a OBD Pro. Cílem dotazníkového šetření bylo zjistit, jak vědečtí pracovníci s informačním systémem pracují a zda jim systém vyhovuje. Významnou součástí práce jsou prezentované výsledky dotazníkového šetření ohledně vkládání údajů o publikacích ke grantovým projektům (výzkumným záměrům) do informačního systému, využívání elektronických katalogů a vytváření seznamů literatury a citací. V závěru práce jsou popsány výsledky dotazníkového šetření a navrhnuta řešení.
