Development of cognitive abilities in the Czech Republic based on data of SHARE
Sirotková, Lucie ; Malá, Ivana (advisor) ; Sobíšek, Lukáš (referee)
This master thesis deals with the description and analysis of the cognitive abilities of persons over 50 years of age in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to present the readers the panel data and their use in the analysis of cognitive abilities. For the purpose of the analysis, data from Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) are used. In the theoretical part, panel data, cognitive abilities and SHARE survey are generally described. The practical part is divided into four parts. The first one deals with descriptive analysis of individual blocks from the cognitive function module published in the SHARE. Characteristics: age, gender, education and the number of activities are then described, whose impact on cognitive abilities is tested. The third part focuses on the construction of an index of cognitive abilities. The main part of the thesis is focused on the use of panel data analysis for the modeling of dependence between the index of cognitive abilities and other characteristics. In total, three different models are compiled, which are subsequently compared to each other and tested on new data. The results show that age has a great impact on cognitive abilities. Furthermore, there is a proven impact of education and the number of activities carried out. The influence of gender is only significant in two of the three models.
Pharmacoeconomical analysis of multiple sclerosis in the Czech Republic
Grishko, Anna ; Sobíšek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Zouhar, Jan (referee)
Pharmacoeconomics is an interdisciplinary scientific field that serves to guide optimal health care resource allocation. Pharmacoeconomics evaluates costs and effects of pharmaceutical products. Conclusions from pharmacoeconomical studies are used as a basis in the process of registering new medicines, pricing and reimbursement of new and already registered medicines. In addition, such studies are also important for health insurers, patient organizations and doctors. Besides evaluating financial costs, pharmacoeconomical studies evaluate non-financial outcomes, for example, effects on the patient's quality of life. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to applicate Continuous-Time Markov Model on clinical data of patients with multiple sclerosis in Czech Republic. In this thesis, disease progression models for two distinct groups of patients are compared. The disability progression in multiple sclerosis affects the costs of illness and increases the overall economic burden of disease. One of the goals of this study is to find out whether early treatment with disease modifying drugs is able to delay progression to functional disability. Furthermore, the research of papers and literature on multiple sclerosis and pharmacoeconomics was carried out.

Vagenknecht, Martin ; Procházka, Jiří (advisor) ; Sobíšek, Lukáš (referee)
Thesis is focused on a time series analysis of uninsured vehicles accidents in Czech republic between years 2003 and 2011. The objective is to create a time series model with appropriate statistical methods to detect and quantify seasonal patterns in given data. The goal is to find a season or period within a year where significantly different levels of accidents occures. Final model belongs to the category of dynamic regression, containing dummy variables, deterministic trend and ARMA component.
Application statistical methods for estimation customer lifetime value
Samuseva, Katsiaryna ; Vraná, Lenka (advisor) ; Sobíšek, Lukáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis pay attention on statistical methods managing relationship with customers and different approaches of estimation customer lifetime value for the company in long time period. It is an empirical type of bachelor thesis, where we will test the theoretical assumptions on the real data. During this paper we research and measure customers behavior in order to obtain quantitative outputs to adaptation marketing strategy, efficient allocation of resources and choosing key clients. On the basis of past and present behavior we simulate expected in future level of purchasing behavior and thus try to determine the most profitable target groups for high-quality application of marketing tools. Main purposes of thesis are describing various attitudes to modeling CLV, applying the model Pareto/NBD on real date of the company Práce pro Vás, to evaluate forecast applicability in practice. Following tasks will be resolved in this paper: to introduce advantages and disadvantages of each modeling CLV approach, to evaluate quality of Pareto/NBD model and to determine the advanced extensions of the research in this issue. There are various attitudes to estimation of CLV, which are described in theoretical chapters, but practical part of this paper focuses primarily on application of probability model Pareto/NBD. With the help of Pareto/NBD managers can get the information about future customers activity, i.e. expected number of transactions from real behavior a probability that customer will be active in observation period. In nowadays reality of overloaded market, almost in every business sector, every company should rely on quantitative base of marketing and choose target clients, on which to focus their marketing efforts. Exactly this need matches with described and applied in this bachelor thesis model Pareto/NBD, with it help we will estimate customer lifetime value for strategic decisions and managing relationship with customers. Finally, we will resolve continuous tasks and will achieve all the determined goals.
Clustering and regression analysis of micro panel data
Sobíšek, Lukáš ; Pecáková, Iva (advisor) ; Komárek, Arnošt (referee) ; Brabec, Marek (referee)
The main purpose of panel studies is to analyze changes in values of studied variables over time. In micro panel research, a large number of elements are periodically observed within the relatively short time period of just a few years. Moreover, the number of repeated measurements is small. This dissertation deals with contemporary approaches to the regression and the clustering analysis of micro panel data. One of the approaches to the micro panel analysis is to use multivariate statistical models originally designed for crosssectional data and modify them in order to take into account the within-subject correlation. The thesis summarizes available tools for the regression analysis of micro panel data. The known and currently used linear mixed effects models for a normally distributed dependent variable are recapitulated. Besides that, new approaches for analysis of a response variable with other than normal distribution are presented. These approaches include the generalized marginal linear model, the generalized linear mixed effects model and the Bayesian modelling approach. In addition to describing the aforementioned models, the paper also includes a brief overview of their implementation in the R software. The difficulty with the regression models adjusted for micro panel data is the ambiguity of their parameters estimation. This thesis proposes a way to improve the estimations through the cluster analysis. For this reason, the thesis also contains a description of methods of the cluster analysis of micro panel data. Because supply of the methods is limited, the main goal of this paper is to devise its own two-step approach for clustering micro panel data. In the first step, the panel data are transformed into a static form using a set of proposed characteristics of dynamics. These characteristics represent different features of time course of the observed variables. In the second step, the elements are clustered by conventional spatial clustering techniques (agglomerative clustering and the C-means partitioning). The clustering is based on a dissimilarity matrix of the values of clustering variables calculated in the first step. Another goal of this paper is to find out whether the suggested procedure leads to an improvement in quality of the regression models for this type of data. By means of a simulation study, the procedure drafted herein is compared to the procedure applied in the kml package of the R software, as well as to the clustering characteristics proposed by Urso (2004). The simulation study demonstrated better results of the proposed combination of clustering variables as compared to the other combinations currently used. A corresponding script written in the R-language represents another benefit of this paper. It is available on the attached CD and it can be used for analyses of readers own micro panel data.
Analysis of the Dependence of Population Satisfaction on Social and Economic factors
Zarembová, Petra ; Sobíšek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Blatná, Dagmar (referee)
This Bachelor thesis analyses the satisfaction of the population depending on selected social and economic factors like gender, age, health status, educational attainment level, household income, marital status and number of children. As the main goal was to describe relationship between satisfaction and several socio-economic factors of the country population. For an examination were selected four countries of the European Union, namely Germany, Poland, Spain and Sweden. The second goal was determined to find out whether a life satisfaction is different for populations of chosen countries, or if contrary they are all homogenous. Analysis of contingency tables including calculation of coefficients of dependency for nominal and ordinal variables, such as Cramer's V or Somer's d was used to carry out the analysis. The benefit of this work is a comparison of four selected European countries in terms of satisfaction of their population. Further, the statistical tests verified life satisfaction dependence on several socio-economic factors. All analysis was carried on the social and economic data, which provides online the World Survey Association free of charge.
