Phenomenon of White
Vítek, Petr ; KRÁLOVÁ, Andrea (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
This diploma thesis describes the phenomenon of white color from the Western world’s culture context point of view. The search for white color in fine arts and white color as an expression and an art tool in the theater is the main topic of this thesis. I play with functions of the color in the theater in a way it can appear completely non-theatrical due to the theatrical convention, and yet, it is still widely used nowadays. On the other hand, however, in art, white has become a conventional color in the gallery space of the 20th century. In the practical part of the thesis, I reflect two theater projects, in which I participated as a scenographer in the DISK theater. I am looking for white leitmotifs in the projects and whether you can talk about the motive that represents my creative handwriting.
Sound as Self Expression of Actor
Švédová, Michaela ; SMOLÍK, Robert (advisor) ; JIŘIČKA, Lukáš (referee)
In the first part of my graduate thesis I reflect my artistic journey. From beginnings of acting, through student theater group work, up to a gradual transition to my individual creative activity where I am more performing artist and musician. In the second chapter I deal with my previous musical and performing experience, that was preparing me for independent creative work. The third and most comprehensive section is devoted to my graduation project called Stroj vedoucí. It is about the technology that I use in the project, historical development and context, I´m also asking there questions, which came to me during the whole process.
THE INFLUENCE OF CURRENT DESIGN AND FASHION TRENDS UPON THE STAGE DESIGN ART
Rozsnyóová, Lenka ; KRÁLOVÁ, Andrea (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
This diploma thesis reflects my inspirational resources I relied on when realizing creative projects during my studies at the Academy of performing Arts in Prague. It consists of two major parts - theoretical and practical. The first one is an analysis of the major influences upon my scenographic work - mainly visual art, fashion & folklore. In the second part of this thesis I analyse the body of my work (theatrical as well as non-theatrical projects) where all these influences have manifested themselves. There are also visual materials attached to the thesis where the actual creative process of the projects realised can be traced.
Sculptural inspiration on subject of body in performative practice
Silich, Sviatlana ; BAŽANT, Jan (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
The main body of my graduate thesis is based on reflection and mapping of The Figs project preparation and realization. The project itself is centered around the topics of bodily perception and bodily fears, and encompasses other works related to these topics. My graduate thesis includes some insights on my collaboration with the students from the sculpture studio and the handling of various materials. It contains the mentions and analysis of individual artists’ artistic works, executed in time-based technique. I’m primarily interested in how the created objects will be consecutively involved in the performance and the ways these objects might later influence the course of the performance. A separate chapter is dedicated to the choice of the material, and includes the use of eggs as a material. I reflect upon my personal experience as an author and a performance artist. Towards the end you will find my research of the artistic process in all its phases. I analyze particular scenes and assess the final choice of the components.

ON MOTIVE OF A MYTH, ON MOTIVE OF A DREAM
Černá, Tereza ; SMOLÍK, Robert (advisor) ; BAŽANT, Jan (referee)
This diploma thematically follows on my bachelor thesis The Choices for stagemanaging native tribes' mythic narrativesfrom the point of view of the stage designer. In my Bachelor Thesis I focused mainly on the research that preceded the production of my bachelor show Drink coffee, ride reindeer, as well as the mapping of the work itself, including the reflection. Now I extend my field of interest. I deal with myths, fairy tales and dreams, both in my own and in foreign works. I try to point out the points of contact between these three phenomena and to find their manifestations in the theater as well as in the visual arts. At the same time, I devote myself to describing how I build my own production, what is important to me in creation, and where I notice similar trends in other contemporary art.

Králíková, Františka ; SMOLÍK, Robert (advisor) ; BAŽANT, Jan (referee)
The main topic of this piece is the placement of a stage designer in devising theatre. At first there is a short characteristic of the devising methods. Then there is illustrated the work of one German group which is dealing with the method of documentary theatre. As a following topic you can find the work of one Czech group which is using the laboratory approach in theatre. Thanks this approach their work is still on the edge between theatre, research and performance. At the end I listed my tree projects in which we used the method of devising theatre. I am reflecting the process of preparation as well as the process of creating, its result and of course the placement of the stage designer.

Baroque Theatricality
Kotrbová, Karolína ; LJUBKOVÁ, Marta (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
In my thesis I deal with the theatricality of the Baroque style. I consider theatricality a crucial feature of this period, of its art and, in a way, also of its thinking and approach to the world. In my work, I will try to prove this oppinion. On the example of three ecclesiastical buildings on the territory of Bohemia and Moravia, I want to prove my claims and explain my statement. I deliberately chose three very different structures - St. Michael church in Brno, Svatá Hora in Příbram and the pilgrimage church Panny Marie Dobré rady at Nové Hrady. The more diverse the places are, the wider possibilities I have for proving my claims.
