Characteristic of aerosol particles in indoor environment of different types of libraries and archives
Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří (advisor) ; Hovorka, Jan (referee) ; Barták, Martin (referee)
Aerosol particles are one of the major pollutants in outdoor and indoor air. Particulate matter (PM) can be harmful for works of art by causing soiling and chemical damage, depending on particle size and chemical composition. This study includes indoor/outdoor monitoring of air quality in five archives in the CR, representing different outdoor environments: Zlatá Koruna (rural), Třeboň (small town), Teplice (industrial area), and two archives (National Library - NL and National Archives - NA) in Prague (large city with traffic). The NL and the archives in Zlatá Koruna, Třeboň and Teplice are only naturally ventilated, while NA in Prague is equipped with ventilation and filtration system. The measurements were performed during 4 intensive campaigns in different seasons of the year at every location. The measurements included particle number/mass concentrations, size distributions and chemical composition. Additional measurements were carried out in 2 museums, a depository, and a church. The aim of this study is to investigate concentrations, sources, and chemical composition of PM in the indoor environment, and to establish the relationship between the indoor and outdoor environment. The results showed that concentrations of fine particles in the indoor environment of the NA in Prague were...
Rummy Card Game Platform
Smolík, Jiří ; Malohlava, Michal (advisor) ; Hauzar, David (referee)
Rummy ("Žolíky" in czech) is one of the most commonly played card games. It is popular due to its simplicity and variability in rules. A lot of Rummy game platforms exist in the world, but they do not allow for unlimited playing for free and lack any advanced communication means among players. This work designs and implements a desktop game platform for Rummy. The main reason for creating it was the absence of a similar non-commercial application which would not focus on hazard but rather on "letting go", communication and fun. The proposed platform provides advanced features to communicate and play, either for fun or to win tournaments. It also supports playing games with users` own rules and against their own computer opponents.
Trusted proxy in SSL/TLS connection
Smolík, Jiří ; Forst, Libor (advisor) ; Lukeš, Dan (referee)
The problem of SSL/TLS interception ("trusted proxy in SSL/TLS connection") has been known for years and many implementations exist. However, all of them share a single technical solution which is based solely on the PKI authentication mechanism and suffers from multiple serious disadvantages. Most importantly, it is not compatible with several aspects or future trends of SSL/TLS and PKI, there's almost no space for improvement and its real use may spawn legal issues. After we analyze technical background and the current solution, we will propose another one, based not only on PKI but SSL/TLS too. Both solutions will be compared and general superiority of the new one will be shown. Basic implementation and analysis will follow, along with deployment requirements and ideas for future development. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
PM2.5 Chemical Composition at the Rural Background Site Košetice.
Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Cusack, Michael ; Karban, Jindřich ; Chalupníčková, E. ; Havránek, Vladimír ; Smolík, Jiří ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Measurements of atmospheric aerosols at rural background areas are important because they are not influenced by the urban emissions, and are therefore better suited to investigate the influence of long-range transport and trends in concentrations of individual pollutants. Summary of the measurements of total concentration and the concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 components was carried out in the works Putaud et al. (2004, 2010). Although the later work included the measurement of more than 60 stations across Europe, the post-communist countries contained data on PM2.5 from only four locations (Prague, Debrecen, Hungary, and two rural locations). Although Košetice place where this study was made, is also discussed there, it was for only PM10 and total carbon (TC). Therefore, the aim of this study is to fill this information gap, and provide additional information regarding the PM2.5 fraction and composition at the Central European background station Košetice.

On Usage of Size Segregated Particle Number Concentration to Guess The Origin of PM2.5 at the Rural Background Site Košetice.
Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Cusack, Michael ; Karban, Jindřich ; Chalupníčková, E. ; Havránek, Vladimír ; Smolík, Jiří ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Rural background studies serve mainly to assess the long-range transport influence and long-term trends. However, it is difficult to find a place with no influence of local sources. This is also the case of Košetice observatory having three small settlements within two km from the observatory. Therefore we attempted to analyze if the influence of these or other nearby sources can be seen in our data on PM2.5 chemical composition. Besides other possibilities like specific ratios of various gaseous compounds we concentrated on using size resolved number concentration data because of their dynamics that leads in general into particle growth until they reach accumulation mode. Several similar studies (e.g. Cusack et al. 2013) were performed during recent years.

Ammonia and Ammonium Nitrate in Archives
Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří ; Ďurovič, M. ; Součková, M.
Ammonia in libraries and archives can damage stored materials such as pigments and metals (Grzywacz, 2006) and mediate microbial decomposition (Petushkova and Lyalikova, 1986). The aim of this study was to investigate concentrations and sources of ammonia in the indoor air of five different types of archives, and to establish the relationship between the indoor and outdoor environments.

Improving Indoor Air Quality of Libraries and Archives in Order to Significantly Reduce the Degradation of Library and Archival Materials
Součková, M. ; Vávrová, P. ; Novotný, J. ; Dřevíkovská, J. ; Paulusová, H. ; Bartl, B. ; Bartlová, L. ; Bacílková, B. ; Straka, R. ; Ďurovič, M. ; Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří
The aim of the preservation procedure is to improve the indoor air quality in libraries and archives in order to maximally slowed the degradation process of library and archival materials. After identification the degradation risks and determination the indoor air quality will be suggested means for improvement of the indoor air quality, which will limit the degradation of stored library and archive materials.
Effect of Dust on Properties of Collagen Materials.
Součková, M. ; Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří
Samples of collagen materials were exposed to dust for two years in depositories, but the total deposition of particles was very small (approx. 0.1 weight percent). For this reason to another samples of collagen materials were dust particles applied using a bag from nonwoven textile. After the artificial ageing of samples the dust was removed mechanically and properties of collagen materials were investigated.\n\n

The Effect of Dust Particles on Cellulose Degradation.
Bartl, B. ; Mašková, Ludmila ; Paulusová, H. ; Smolík, Jiří ; Bartlová, L. ; Vodička, Petr
This study focused on the changes in properties of cellulose-based paper Whatman 41, which can take place as a consequence of its contamination by dust particles. The chemical composition and size distribution of dust particles from archival repositories were analysed. After the artificial ageing, the viscosity-average degree of polymerization of cellulose DPv was measured. It was confirmed that cellulose-based paper can undergo substantial changes when contaminated by dust particles and artificially aged. The decrease of the DPv of cellulose showed a negative correlation with the deposited mass of sulfate ions in the dust particles. Considering the particle size fraction, the results suggest the decisive importance of the fine (PM1) particles. \n\n
