Czech national identity in Israel - between past and present

This master thesis examines the Czech identity of the inhabitants of Kibbutz Sarid in Israel. The theoretical part of the text introduces the concepts of diaspora identity by Rogers Brubaker, long-distance nationalism by Benedict Anderson, collective memory by Maurice Halbwachs and Jan Assmann, and lieux de mémoire by Pierre Nora. These theories are applied to the specific case of Czechoslovak immigrants in Palestine and their descendants. This thesis aims to answer the questions of what the diasporic identity of Czechoslovak immigrants looked like and how it is now constructed by their descendants. The material examined is approached in a critical discoursive analysis.

War conflict in Afghanistan in 2001 through the optics of Just War Theory

The thesis focuses on the war conflict in Afghanistan in 2001 in the context of the United States administration`s declaration of a war on terror as a result of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It examines the initiation and conduct of the war conflict through the lens of the just war theory based on its criteria, namely through jus ad bellum (especially the criteria of just cause, right intention and legitimate authority) and jus in bello (the criteria of proportionality of means and discrimination). The thesis applies the criteria of a just war in relation to the conflict in Afghanistan and seeks to answer whether the initiation of the conflict as well as the conduct of the war by the United States was compatible with the just war theory. The work also analyzes the approaches of theorists dealing with the moral and legitimate evaluation of the war conflict (Fiala, Crawford, Elshtain). Global far-right terrorism: Atomwaffen Division

The Abstract The presented thesis deals with the international terrorism of the extreme right. Based on the analysis of specialist texts and ideological handbooks of the extreme right, the ability of global communication of extreme right terrorist groups is examined. The thesis presents the historical context and basic theoretical concepts associtated with contemporary far-right terrorism. Using the example of the organization Atomwaffen Division, the thesis analyzes the development and current trends of far-right terrorism. African Union as an institution of "secondhand" integration in International Relations

The thesis will focus on the African Union as an institution of the integration process of African states and its position in international relations. In the first part, the thesis will trace this process through the prism of Wendt's teleology of international relations, where decolonization can be seen as an example of Hegel's struggle for recognition. The thesis will attempt to show how the African experience develops Wendt's argument. The second part of the thesis will focus on the discussion of weak statehood in the African context, and an empirical look at the African Union as an institution that brings together mostly weak states. In the third part, African realities will be examined through the lens of Bhabha's mimicry (mimicking European integration), and also from the perspective of Wallerstein's world system theory. Czech illiberal left?

The presented thesis analyses the attempt to create an illiberal left-wing current in the Czech public space through the analysis of published texts and declared political positions of selected actors chosen on the basis of publicly rejecting both right and left liberalism and progressivism in explicitly left-wing intentions. The thesis characterizes its main theoretical background, examines the degree of its influence by the French illiberal intellectual model, its inner variability, profiling and the question of the self-sufficiency of this current as a Czech left alternative. Historical Parallels in Czech Political Debate in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War

This thesis studies the usage of historical annalogies by Czech parliamentary parties in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war of 2022. It focuses on four subjects - ruling coalitions SPOLU and Piráti+STAN and two oposition movements ANO and SPD. The main goal of this work is to analyze specific analogies to unravel the motivations and goals hidden behind them. Thesis also focuses on studying frequency and structure of used annalogies and aims to describe, how important geopolitical event like Russian invasion changed it. Analysis of the Belarusian revolution: causes, results and reasons for failure

This thesis focuses on the recent protests in Belarus in 2020. After the events of the election, people started to protest against the illegitimate results. The study was conducted to understand the long-term causes and reasons for failure. For analysis, studies will be used on nonviolent protests and the role of emotion in the protest movement. Long-term causes and short-term triggers of protests, course of protests, actors and their tactics will be followed in individual chapters. The author starts from analysis of the long- term causes of the protest in Belarus, and then moves on to a detailed analysis based on primary sources as well as specialist literature. The government's response to these protests is examined, with the help of the literature on the subject, the correlation between the intensity of these repressions and the outcome of the protests is discussed. Populism and the Covid-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

(in English): The aim of the thesis is to analyse populism and populist rhetoric during the coronavirus pandemic in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. First, the thesis will define the differentiated types of populism in Central Europe in the last 10 years. Based on this foundation, it will be possible to analyse how the governments of the Czech and Slovak Republics responded to the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis and how they responded to its developmental stages. The main question posed in this thesis will be how and in what ways populism manifested itself in the two countries during the crisis period. Additionally, the thesis will examine the differences between the governments of the Czech and Slovak Republics, the specifics of their handling of the pandemic, and the potential specifics of their populist rhetoric. Another question that will be reflected in the thesis is the factor of nationalism and its impact on populist or non-populist decisions of these governments. Methodologically, the thesis will be based on theories of populism and discursive analysis of open primary sources.

The diploma thesis aims to describe the concept of Fascism in thought of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The interpretation of Pasolini's thought is based on a more general approach to the question of Fascism in Italy, to Marxist theories of Fascism, as well as to the theories of Emilio Gentile, Zeev Sternhell and Roger Griffin. The literary-theoretical and social-political parts of Pier Paolo Pasolini's thought are particularly examined. Analysis of the political discourse of the "three-strikes law!" - from a perspective of David Garland's culture of control

Main subject of this paper is political discourse of the Czech version of the "Three-strikes" law, which is an amendment of the law n. 111/2006, About help in material need. Amendment was submitted on 27.9.2018 by legislators led by Jan Baeur. Three-strikes law was promulgated in the collection of laws 8.9.2021 as law n.327/2021 and entered into force on 1.1.2022. The subject of the analysis will be shorthand records from parliamentary debate. The goal of analysis is to identify key arguments and their interpretation in David Garland' theory of culture of control. The work is divided into three main parts. In the first theoretical part I will study Garland' theory of culture of control and concepts of zero tolerance policies, three-strikes laws and problems of welfare surveillance. In the second part, I will examine the history of these policies both in Czech and international environment and I will try to place these policies into the theory of culture of control. In this section, I will analyse the Czech version of the three-strikes law in the history of Czech security development. In the third part, I will perform thematic analysis of parliamentary debate of three-strikes law in MAXQDA software.
