Bohemia in the Merovingian age
Korený, Rastislav ; Košnar, Lubomír (advisor) ; Sláma, Jiří (referee) ; Varsik, Vladimír (referee)
Bohemia in the Merovingian age - end of the 5th - 6th century AD Rastislav Korený Mining Museum Příbram Abstract The following objectives have been pursued in the dissertation: 1. A new commented inventory of sites from the end of the 5th and 6th century (excluding coin finds) which should become a reliable basis for an analysis of the collected material. The last inventory of such kind was created by Bedřich Svoboda approximately sixty years ago, i.e. in the 1940-1950s, and it was not published until 1965. The need for a new revised inventory became apparent over the recent years. During the physical re-evaluation of earlier finds and related primary visual and textual documentation, which was carried out in the years 1996- 2013 (30 museum and non-museum collections, 4 separate archival collections and other information sources were revised), there was a striking discrepancy between the published data contained in the catalogue of the above mentioned monograph and reality. The excavations carried out after 1965 also, naturally, resulted in the expansion of the amount of available source material. 2. Because the material currently available from settlements was published by Ivana Pleinerová in 2007, the analysis of the collected data concentrated, in addition to the identification of chronologically more...
Measuring the settlement of an apartment building
Haragová, Veronika ; Sláma, Jiří (referee) ; Bureš, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the geodetic survey and processing of preventive monitoring of vertical displacements and deformations of an apartment building located in Olomouc, Czechia. The main goal is to determine the degree of uneven settlement of a building whose subsoil, according to a geological survey, shows the presence of groundwater. The measurement was carried out by the method of precise leveling using hanging code scales. Part of the solution was an experimental measurement to determine the difference of origins of the scales and to determine the accuracy of the reading on the used hanging scales and the effect of the length of sight on the accuracy of the reading on the scale. In total, the bachelor's thesis processes five stages measured in a time interval from 4/2021 to 4/2023. The results of this work are values of detected vertical displacements of points in individual stages with respect to the initial stage. Results are graphically interpreted in the context of the geophysical survey.

Findings of coins in Českokrumlovsko region
Medieval non-ferrous metallurgy. Contribution to an interpretation of findings on Republic square in Prague
Vyšohlíd, Martin ; Klápště, Jan (advisor) ; Sláma, Jiří (referee)
The intention of this work's author was an interpretation of two almost identical items (pits) found during an extensive archeological research in the area of the former barracks Jiřího z Poděbrad, náměstí Republiky, Prague New Town. Items distant from each other 50 meters were unearthed within one year between 2004 and 2005. The items were represented by the pits sunk in the subsoil oriented west-east. A construction fragments were found on their bottoms. The first of the items was to a large degree disturbed with interferences in the 17th century. Only one half of it has remained until today. The other item, unearthed in the náměstí Republiky area (nearly next to the st. Joseph church entrance) was not destroyed by younger interferences. This was a linear pit 4,4 meters long, maximum width 1,8 meters (in the central part), 1,2 meters deep. There was a heating channel in its center made of two lines of diabase rocks (0,63 - 1,35 meters long). These rocks were commonly used in the fire using items the middle ages in the Prague area because of their heat accumulation capacity. Joints between individual rocks as well as their surface areas were filled with fired clay (puddle). On top of this construction a clay ring was placed (5-20cm wide; 0,65-0,85 inner diameter). Both items were filled with mostly with...

Halašková, Stanislava ; Sláma, Jiří (advisor) ; Štefan, Ivo (referee)
The topic of the bachelor thesis is Grave gifts and personal equipment of the dead in the early medieval burials and the fade away of this custom. The thesis is divided into three parts. First of them is dedicated to the analysis of selected early medieval burial grounds and closer acquainting with singular items of grave's equipment. In the second chapter are these items closely characterized and dated. I have tried in the last chapter to follow the causes of the phenomenon of fading away of the grave's equipment in early medieval burial grounds. The goal of the thesis is to follow the changes in the frequency of occurrence of the items placed into graves on Czech early medieval burial grounds, focusing on singular kinds of grave's discoveries, determination of chronology and interpretation of the causes of the followed phenomenon.
Medieval settlement the lower reaches of a river Divoká Orlice

The case-study of early medieval settlement in north-western Slovakia
