Monitoring of the Movement Function of the Upper Limb in a Patients with Acquired Brain Injury, using the Accelerometer from the Perspective of Occupational Therapist

This diploma thesis deals with monitoring the movement of the upper limbs in patients after acquired brain injury using an accelerometer. The diploma thesis is processed from the perspective of occupational therapy. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The main objective of the theoretical part is to collect specialist literature about monitoring the movement of the upper limbs by accelerometer in rehabilitation, especially in the occupational therapy. The practical part of the thesis has three objectives. The first objective is to find out whether monitoring of the upper limbs using the accelerometer in patients after acquired brain injury will lead to an objective improvement of the activity of daily living (ADL) in the areas of eating, washing and dressing. The second objective is to find out whether monitoring of the upper limbs using the accelerometer in patients after acquired brain injury will lead to subjective improvement in the same ADLs, and the third objective is to compare whether objective and subjective improvement is related. Occupational Therapy Focused on Upper Extremity Motor Disorders at School-Age Children with Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy (CP) is one of the most frequent neurodevelopmental deseases. The brain lesion may disturb upper extremity functioning in children with cerebral palsy (CP). This thesis aims to create a therapeutic program focused on movability of upper limbs in school-aged children with CP and and verify the efficiency of this therapeutic program. Another goal is to consider the applicability of the Jebsen Taylor Test of Hand Function for assessment of hand function in children with CP. The theoretical part deals elaborately with cerebral palsy, therapeutic interventions in children with CP and its efficiency according to the evidence based medicine. This part also deals with standardized assassment tools and pays close attention to the Jebsen Taylor Test of Hand Function (JTTHF) and the Manual Ability Classification System (MACS). The practical part presents six case studies of children with cerebral palsy who attended the occupational therapy three times a week over three weeks. The created therapeutic program includes three areas focused on the bimanual training, grips and grafomotorics. This program was appropriate for four of six children patients. Problematic Areas in the Everyday Life of Patients with Huntington's Disease. Subtitle: A Suggestion of Compensatory Strategies in Coping with Cognitive Impairment

This diploma thesis explores problematic areas of patients with Huntington's disease in their performance during activities of daily living (ADLs) from the perspective of patients and their caregivers. The aim of the research was also to assess a possible correlation between cognitive impairment and the patient's performance in ADL. Twenty-five patients with their caregivers met the selection criteria for the research. There were used standardized assessment methods available in Czech: the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and the questionnaire for caregivers called Bristol Activities of Daily Living Scale (BADLS-CZ). The statistical analyses consisted of methods of the nonparametric statistics, qualitative analysis was processed by data categorizing. Caregivers reported more problematic areas in ADLs which was significantly confirmed in the statistical hypothesis testing (p <0,05). A significant correlation was seen between the results of the questionnaire and the results of the MoCA assessment (rSp = -0,620; p <0,05). For various reasons, patients with Huntington's disease did not mention as many problematic areas in performing ADL as their caregivers. Title: Physiotherapy using rhythmic auditory stimulation in upper limb training for patients with motor disorder caused by brain damage Abstract: The theme of this bachelor thesis is physiotherapy using rhythmic auditory stimulation in upper limb training for patients with motor disorder caused by brain damage. The thesis consists from theoretical and practical parts. The range of problems associated with brain damage, both traumatic and stroke-induced, is briefly described in theoretical part. Fine and gross motor function of upper limb, the impact of central nervous system damage on it and possibilities of subsequent physiotherapy are also described in this part. In the last chapter of theoretical part knowledge about musical therapy, its application in neurorehabilitation and Rhythmical Auditory Stimulation method (RAS) is summarized. Practical part consists of two case reports of patients with acquired brain damage and following upper limb moving disorder. In this part the influence of RAS method during therapy is monitored. Comparison of the current physiotherapy approaches to incontinence in the Czech Republic and abroad

This bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of female urinary incontinence and its physiotherapeutic treatment options. The aim of this thesis is to introduce and compare the current physiotherapy approaches used in the Czech Republic and abroad. This thesis is composed of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes physiotherapy approaches to urinary incontinence in the Czech Republic and in selected foreign countries (Australia, Canada, The United Kingdom, The United States of America, Norway, The Netherlands and Germany) - it is devoted to the description of physical examination, manual and instrumental techniques. Besides that, the theoretical part includes brief informations about the pelvic floor, physiology of micturition, and about the topic of urinary incontinence in general (definition, epidemiology, types, diagnostics and treatment options). The practical part contains a case history of one female patient suffering from stress urinary incontinence. Both Czech and foreign findings were used in the treatment of this patient. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the first part of the bachelor thesis the author explains the problematics of anatomy and spin physiology, while focusing mainly on the nerve structures, skeleton and muscle system in lumbar area and lower limbs. In the thesis, there is also mentioned the kinesiology of given segments and pathophysiology with the focus on lumbosacral syndroms. Next section of the theoretical part presents detailed elaboration of conservative approaches in the therapy of radiculopaties in lumbosacral area. This bachelor thesis is about the intervention of occupational therapist in palliative care for children. Children's palliative care something is new and unknown for many laypersons and proffesionals as well. When the child dies it seems like something abnormal and unnatural. However, they are dying as adults from different reasons. This cause can be injury, accident or severe illness as well. In this situation when the child is diagnosed by serious illness which is connected with many difficult situations when the child and his family need help of professionals. Rehabilitation is very important part of effective and quality care. In the Czech Republic rehabilitation and occupational therapy are underestimated. The value and importance of intervention of occupational therapist in children's palliative care is supported by evidence in many foreign literature. I derived mostly from these foreign languages sources. The theoretical part of this thesis is about the introduction of children's palliative care. This study aims to evaluate the importance of proper back support for patients with spinal damage after long-term sitting in a mechanical wheelchair. The subject of this thesis was to analyze Czech and foreign literature and offer the most accurate and still missing information when selecting and compiling the selection of mechanical wheelchair seating unit. The thesis describes the differences between right and wrong sitting posture of mechanical wheelchair users. It analyzes the available information on the possibility of objective assessment, as well as trying to justify the importance of the support of the trunk on the resulting stability and functionality during activities of daily living. It refers to the most common secondary changes and their chaining caused by poor sitting posture. A subjective evaluation of the comfort of users sitting in mechanical wheelchairs in the form of a questionnaire was chosen to assess the urgency of the theme. The research carried out confirmed the hypotheses of clinical practice, which are included in the work.
