Nursing care for newborns with oxygen therapy

The present thesis focuses on the nursing care of newborns with oxygenotherapy and its specifics. Furthermore, the thesis includes a review analysis of the respondents' knowledge related to oxygenotherapy in newborns. This thesis consists of two main parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the principles of oxygen administration, methods of administration, the most common conditions requiring oxygen therapy and its complications. The basic knowledge in neonatology is often crucial for obtaining this information, which is highlighted in this thesis. Also, basic nursing care of neonates with oxygen therapy is briefly characterized. The aim of the empirical part of the thesis is to compare the obtained knowledge analysis of the nurses of the selected specialist units, namely the neonatal unit and the delivery room. The research method of the empirical part of this thesis was a quantitative research survey, focused on the knowledge of paediatric nurses, midwives and nurses of other job classifications working in neonatal wards or delivery rooms. The 21-item questionnaire was designed for this thesis only and was administered anonymously. Diploma thesis Proecdural pain in children in intensive care 11 ABSTRACT Background: This diploma thesis deals with the effect of the pharmacological approach of the topical anesthetic EMLA and the non-pharmacological approach of visual distract- ion on self-reported procedural pain and fear during the insertion of a peripheral venous catheter (appr. PVC) in children aged up 2 to 8 years in the intensive care environment. Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis was to provide a systematic review of relevant studies that dealt with the effects of pharmacological and non-pharma- cological interventions used in the procedural pain and fear management in children aged up 6 to 18 years during the PVC insertion. The objective of the empirical part of the thesis was to determine whether the use of the topical anesthetic EMLA in children aged up 8 to 18 years undergoing PVC insertion is more effective in reducing procedural pain and fear than visual distraction and whether the level of procedural pain in these children with regard on the provided therapy is influenced by sociodemographic and clinical variables. Nursig Care of the Patient with Metabolic Disorders

Téma své diplomové práce péče o pacienta s metabolickým rozvratem jsem si vybrala na základě svého zájmu o komplikace chorob souvisejících s příjmem potravy. Tuto práci bych ráda orientovala na problematiku závažné akutní hyperglykémie u diabetiků prvního typu. Cukrovka je jednou z nejrozšířenějších nemocí. Dnešní možnosti léčby sice nedokáží nemoc odstranit, ale mohou zajistit, aby diabetik žil s chronickou nemocí a zároveň se necítil být chronicky nemocným. Je tomu tak tehdy, když diabetik ví, jak má se svou nemocí žít a co si může dovolit. Základním předpokladem jsou dostatečné znalosti o tom, co je u diabetu v těle v nepořádku, co může poruchu zhoršovat a co ji může naopak upravovat. Základním kamenem stabilizovaného stavu je tedy motivace a vůle nemocného poznat zákonitosti své nemoci, řídit se jimi a nepociťovat to přitom jako osobní omezení. Diabetikem se může stát v kteroukoliv hodinu kdokoliv z nás, riziko se zvyšuje paralelně s nárůstem genetických mutací, množstvím stresorů a dalších vlivů. Moje pacientka K. L. je evidována jako diabetička 1.typu od svých sedmnácti let. S první vážnou komplikací hyperglykémie se setkala až nyní ve věku 38 let. I přes dispenzarizaci v diabetologické poradně a poučení o příznacích hypoglykémie a hyperglykémie se občas nemocný dostaví až ve velmi závažném stavu....
