Ancient glass: Conclusions Based on the Analysis of the Collection at the Prague National Museum
Svobodová, Helena ; Ondřejová, Iva (advisor) ; Bouzek, Jan (referee) ; Bažant, Jan (referee)
The ancient glass collection of the National Museum has more than 200 completely intact and so far - beside few exceptions - unpublished vessels which encompass a wide chronological framework from the 5th century BC until the end of antiquity. The core of the collection is composed of mold-blown and free-blown glass. The analysis of the collection offers a view into the history of the ancient glass production; examples of all kinds of production methods can be found in it - from a corn-formed glass, through a glass made by sagging into a form, and up to a mold-blown and free-blown glass. A great number of various decoration techniques and styles used in antiquity are represented in the collection; also, it contains vessels from various places within the Roman Empire, as well as outside of it. The major part of the work comprises blown glass from the Roman imperial period (chapter four), both free-blown and mold-blown, and from this virtually half are unguentaria of various types. Almost all types of vessel produced in this period are found in this chapter. The vessels were ordered according to types - e.g. open shapes, closed shapes and in the framework of these types they are arranged further - according to other criteria which create other sub-groups - as for example forms without a foot or on a...
Development of manufacturing/economical aspects in roman provinces Thracia and Moesia Inferior with focusing on glassmaking.
Čisťakova, Viktorija ; Musil, Jiří (advisor) ; Venclová, Natalie (referee) ; Svobodová, Helena (referee)
The work presented here focuses on the development of economic activities in the provinces of Thrace and Moesia Inferior (in today's Bulgaria), specifically on the problematic of glassmaking in Roman period and the Late Antiquity. In my work I have focused on the systematic interpretation of the economical development of the rural environment in a context of social, political and economic transformation during Roman rule. The second part of the work presents the glassmaking in the Roman Empire - its beginning, the development of certain technological processes and the specifics of trade activities with raw glass and finished glass products. A collection from the Roman site of Yurt-Stroyno was selected as a case study (during seasons 2012-2014) 1413 fragments of glass were found here. The main aim of the presented study is a typological analysis of the glass finds, supplemented by an analysis of the material composition of selected artifacts. Chemical XRF analyses of the material composition were applied due to clarify the chronological framework of the study group, to determine the source of raw glass for the local glassworks and to raise awareness of Roman and late antique glass in southeastern Bulgaria. 116 samples from the Yurta-Stroyno site were analysed. The selection of samples was carried...
The importance of the expression of leukocyte and thrombogenic markers in the atherogenesis
Svobodová, Helena
Inflammatory and prothrombotic factors play a crucial role in the atherogenesis. Dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus as well are associated with the endothelial and leukocyte activation, which facilitate the inflammatory infiltration of the subendothelial space and deteriorate endothelial dysfunction, and thus contribute to the development of premature atherosclerosis. Furthermore, diabetes is associated with a number of platelets and coagulation factors abnormalities that participate in atherogenesis by other mechanisms and may be involved in the acute atherothrombotic events progression. Therefore, the factors that could favourably influence these actions become the subject of interest. In this work, we examined leukocyte expression of cell adhesion molecules in patients with hypercholesterolemia and type 2 diabetes, and thrombogenic molecules on leukocytes in type 2 diabetes, and also soluble endothelial and thrombogenic markers. In these patient groups, we investigated the effect of lipid lowering and antidiabetic treatment on these markers. Patients with severe hypercholesterolemia were examined at the baseline and after 10 weeks of atorvastatin treatment. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were examined at baseline and after 5 months of rosiglitazone treatment. Both patient groups were...
Safety and health protection in the work of nurses at an acute care department
SVOBODOVÁ, Helena
The thesis dealing with the occupational safety and health protection for acute care department nurses had three goals. The first goal was to map the specifics of health protection and safety at work for acute care department nurses. The second goal was to ascertain the most frequent occurrence of failures to adhere to the H&S rules. The third goal was to find out whether the duration of the practice and the level of education affect the H&S knowledge among nurses. Qualitative as well as quantitative research was applied to the ascertainment of the answers to the prepared questions. When the two kinds of research had been set it was necessary to set research questions and hypotheses. The method of hidden observation of nurses working at an anaesthesiology and resuscitation department was applied within the qualitative research. Ten nurses were observed. The method of questionnaire survey sent through the Internet was used to obtain the quantitative results. Surprisingly, two hundred and forty respondents replied to the questionnaire. To confirm the hypotheses a statistical processing was carried out, which confirmed or refuted the significance level of the individual questions and replies. The asset of this work and of a part of its results is a finding that nurses from an anaesthesiology and resuscitation department are aware of the necessity of the adherence to the H&S rules and instructions, which protects their health, but they fail to do it in practice. This is why the results of this thesis might stimulate further solutions. The thesis also contains a proposal how to deal with complicated situations. All solutions are however completely individual and depend on the internal and further rules set by the hospital management.

Transverse Flute Play Education on Elementary Art Schools
Svobodová, Helena ; Valášek, Marek (advisor) ; Hurníková, Kateřina (referee)
Transverse Flute Play Education on Elementary Art Schools, bachelor thesis Helena Svobodová This thesis deals with problematics of transverse flute play education on elementary art schools. It tries to look at the education from two aspects - practical which is concentrated to the very process of education including different methodics, and technical which is focused more to the instrument. Both these aspects combine in a questionnaire for teachers of transverse flute play in elementary art schools. The survey shows opinions of a few respondents about flute play problematique.

Manufacturing of the anchoring element of a solar collector
Svobodová, Helena ; Lidmila, Zdeněk (referee) ; Peterková, Eva (advisor)
In this master's thesis the proposal of the production technology of component – solar collector anchor element from steel 1.0038 (11 375) quality, 5 mm thickness is solved. For the manufacturing of the assigned part the shearing and bending technology and a progressive forming tool including a suitable forming machine of 8,000 kN rated power is selected. The proposed method of production is laid down by a technical-economic evaluation with respect to the production series of 150,000 units per year. The solar collector anchor element serves to hold the frame for the solar vacuum tube collector. In the scope of this master's thesis, an assessment of the current production method, including the selection of a suitable semi-finished product for production, was also carried out and their optimization was proposed.
