Elastic anisotropy of eclogites and peridotites from the Bohemian Massif
Pohořalá, Anna ; Staněk, Martin (advisor) ; Machek, Matěj (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the structure of the lithosphere and the factors influencing the velocity of P-wave propagation and their anisotropy in rocks. Fundamental aspects of seismic and laboratory methods for the study of elastic properties of rocks are described with particular emphasis on the method of ultrasonic irradiation of spherical samples under high confining stresses. The results of measurements by this method are presented on 18 samples of eclogites and peridotites from the Bohemian Massif. The rock set is separated according to modal composition, compared and then evaluated using graphs showing P-wave velocity, anisotropy and confining stress relationships. Furthermore, the relationship between anisotropy, P-wave velocity of propagation, density and grain size is shown using a correlation matrix. For the sets of studied rocks, the presence of kelyphites, symplectites, and serpentinites decreases the P-wave velocity, and anisotropy decreases with increasing amounts of serpentinites. Eclogites having high seismic velocities have low anisotropy. Keywords: elastic anisotropy, eclogites, serpentinized peridotites, Bohemian Massif

Structural and Petrophysical Characterisation of Granite Intended for Radioactive Waste Stocking
Staněk, Martin ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Žák, Jiří (referee) ; David, Christian (referee)
Structural and petrophysical analysis have been conducted within the Melechov massif with focus on structures controlling the porosity, permeability and thermal conductivity of the rock. The structure of the massif has been constrained based on extensive dataset including AMS and field structural measurements of ductile and brittle structures. Maps and stereograms have been constructed to display the magnetic fabrics and the fracture system of the studied massif. The fracture system of the massif has been described by two principal and two supplementary sets of joints and by faults formed mainly by joint reactivation or less frequently formed as shear fractures. The measured petrophysical data have been used to characterize the effect of fracturing and alteration on pore space geometry and in turn on permeability, thermal conductivity and elastic properties of the studied granite. Distinct petrophysical properties have been identified for pristine granite, for fractured fresh granite as well as for fractured granite altered by Fe-oxide, chlorite and clay minerals. Relations between the measured petrophysical properties have been explained in terms of evolution of the rock pore space. A detailed microstructural study combined with multidirectional P-wave velocity measurements at high confining pressure and...
Contemporary catholic apocalyptics. A new perspective on private revelations.
Staněk, Martin ; Rethmann, Albert-Peter (referee) ; Červenková, Denisa (referee)
Contemporary Catholic apocalyptics. New perspective on private revelations. This paper shows that the area of private revelations and Marian devotion hit especially in the second half of the twentieth century wave of apocalyptics, which culminated at the turn of the millennium. It appears by the analysis of texts, messages and prophecies of modern Marian apparitions, which report close to second coming of Christ. The author focuses on the biblical foundations of modern apocalyptics and analyzes the existence of such expectations in the history of the Church. The historical overview shows that current expectations, which are mainly millenaristic, have their prototypes in the Middle Ages and the early church, even though the Church has never accepted them. It attempts to affect the structure of eschatology of these revelations and interpretations, noting the changing role of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit in the contemporary apocalyptics and in events of the End Times. It points out the eschatological nature of some of the writings of Pope John Paul II. The theological chapter examines the relationship of private revelations to the unique and constitutive revelation and on the basis of the arguments of some theologians considers obligatory nature with which are private revelations submitted to...
