Vyplel, Dan ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Nuptiality in the Czech Republic: cross-sectional and cohort view Abstract The objective of this study is to describe the development of primo-nuptiality in the Czech Republic from 1961 to 2014 using primo-nuptiality life tables. These tables have been calculated to such an extent with the use of the same methodology for the first time and thus their complete mutual comparability is guaranteed. For each period there are selected years, which are then in detail examined primarily in terms of intensity and timing of first marriages. As for illustration there are also mentioned external socioeconomic factors of the given time period, which has been affecting the discussed indicators. The last chapter of the study adresses a cohort view on primo-nuptiality of specific birth cohorts. The development of the cohort primo-nuptiality quantum by age and respective differences are investigated. Keywords: primo-nuptiality, nuptial, conjugation of nuptiality, marriage, cross-sectional, cohort, primo-nuptiality life tables, Czech Republic

Nerušilová, Hana ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Long-Term Care for the Elderly in the Czech Republic and European countries in the context of demographic ageing Abstract Long-term care refers to the range of services required by persons suffering from a reduced degree of functional capacity and who are dependent on help with activities of daily living. These services include personal care as well as medical and social services. LTC could be provided either in institutional settings or at home - by informal (upaid) or formal providers. European Union has declared that LTC represents one of the main challenges connected with the current demographic changes. The main aim of this thesis is to provide a picture of LTC providing across European countries. Special attention was placed on ensuring care for the elderly in Czechia, where ambiguities about responsibilities (which are divided between The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and and The Ministry of Health), financing or even defining the content of this care have recently become quite frequent subjects of public debates. Keywords: demographic ageing, long-term care, health and social services, home care, Czechia, international comparison

Žemberová, Karolína ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šustová, Šárka (referee)
This thesis addresses childlessness and its aspects in selected European countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. The aim of this work is to discover whether there are differences between capitalist and post-socialist countries when it comes to the development of childlessness and fertility. The tools are: the analysis of fertility, the average age of mothers at childbirth and analysis of childlessness using both transversal and longitudinal indicators. The indicators used in the analysis were of the first and second category. Another aim of this thesis is to find out whether there are differences between the attitudes, opinions and values when it comes to approach to the family, the division of gender roles and children between childless respondents and respondents with children. The differentiation between sex and age groups through the use of three matrices with questions from three surveys (European Values Study, Eurobarometer and ISSP) are also investigated. The factor analysis and the method of principal components are used to reduce the number of variables. The results of the factor analysis are indexed and the indexes are then used to reveal how the differences manifest themselves in the monitored groups of respondents. The main result of...

Seasonal profile of nuptiality, natality and mortality in the Czech republic and international comparison Abstract The aim of this thesis is to capture changes in seasonality of nuptiality, natality and mortality in the Czech Republic and the factors that influence the seasonality. Despite the fact that these changes have been monitored since the 16th (nuptiality) and the 17th century (natality and mortality), the thesis focuses on the period from 1950s to 2012. Czech Republic is then compared with six other countries, with shorter reference period (2005-2012). Seasonal profile is represented by seasonal indexes and their variability is analyzed using the coefficient of variation. Seasonality of marriages was, especially in the 1950s, characterized by the accumulation of marriages in the last months of the year and in April, with later shift to the summer. The minimum was at the beginning of the period in the first quarter of the year and in May and later joined them low values in November and December. Due to superstitions about unhappy marriages, May was a month with a very low seasonal index throughout the period. The highest values of seasonal indexes of live births used to occur in the first half of the year and then shifted, as in the case of weddings, to the summer months. The minimum values did not...

Slabá, Jitka ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Structures of divorced populations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia according to Census 2011 Abstract: This Bachelor Thesis is striving to characterize the population of divorced in the Czech and Slovak Republics on the basis of available data from Census which took place in 2011. The age and sex structure of the divorced is analysed at regional level. Furthermore, potential distinctive features that correlate with the size of population of the divorced on district or regional level are being searched for. The potential correlating characteristics were chosen based on known risk factors of divorce rate, which were published in demographic or sociological literature. According to assumptions the ratio of the divorced on the population is higher in the Czech Republic then in Slovakia. Moreover, the Czech population of the divorced is older compared to the one of Slovakia and the average age of divorced is higher for women than men. In the countries there is a contradictory relationship between the relative size of the population of divorced and the educational level of the population. While in the districts in the Czech Republic with greater ratio of university-educated the relative number of divorced decreases, in Slovakia their number is increasing. In both states it was proven that with increasing number...

WORKING POOR IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC Abstract Even though poverty is not the death or life question in developed countries it is necessary to pay attention to it. The topic of poverty, social cohesion and social exclusion plays now an increasing role in the EU agenda; working poor started to be explored in 1990s there. Working poor are people poor despite working. Work should serve as a protection of poverty, it should guarantee better living standard to employed people in comparison to those dependent on social protection. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the issue of working poor, to identify them, to find out the reasons why they are poor and to develop measures to help them not to be poor. This thesis brings a comprehensive view on the working poor in the Czech Republic. The focus is on the poverty rate as well as characteristics of working poor. Methods for measuring this phenomenon have not been fully developed yet, there is still not a consensus on the most suitable methods. Different methods are introduced, compared and critically evaluated in the first - theoretically oriented - part of the thesis. Combination and modification of existing methods creates a base for methodology used in this thesis. The core part of the thesis is dedicated to the detailed analysis of working poor in the...
