Maximum attainable efficiencies of one-stage volute pumps
Galuška, Jiří ; Fic, Miloslav (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with European Commission Regulation EUROPUMP for minimun allowable efficiency of the one stage volute pumps. Thesis deals with definition, time table and criteria for measurement these pumps. Further thesis deals with total efficiency of the pipe system in relation to pump efficiency. Follow example of a calculation of the one stage volute pump.
Flow control in a hydraulic turbine draft tube
Litera, Jiří ; Štefan, David (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
Hydraulic energy is one of the most important sources in the world for electricity production. Nowadays the trend is to limit the production of the electricity from fossil fuels and to protect the environment. The main idea is to use more renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy. Unfortunately, these alternative sources are strongly dependent on current weather conditions, which causes the instability of the electrical grid. Luckily pumped storage and hydraulic power plants provide the solution. However, it requires an extension of the operating range of the hydraulic machines. For that reason, the water turbines now operate over and extended range of regimes, that can be quite far from the best efficiency point. Hence two types of unstable two-phase flows in the Francis turbine draft tube occur: part load overload. This diploma’s thesis is focused on the Francis turbine operating at the part load. During part load conditions the helical vortex rope is being developed in the draft tube, it causes pressure pulsation and it can lead to the hydro-acoustic resonance, which damages the elements of the power plant. The aim is to eliminate the pulsation by jet control of the swirling flow in the draft tube. In the diploma’s thesis, various approaches to jet control of the flow in conical diffuser are tested using the computational fluid dynamics.
Nano and microbubbles created by cavitation
Harazin, Přemysl ; Sluše, Jan (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This work solves the problematics of distinguishing tiny bubbles and particles as well as the thermodynamics of bubbles and their creation. The process of cavitation is described in the first part of the thesis. The problem of visualisation and counting the number of bubbles is described in the experimental part as well as the posibility of influencing the stream through the input of obstacles. Problem with visualisation was dealt with laser beam shining through the transparent tube with software postprocessing. The issue of influencing the stream was dealt with input of the strainer into the stream. Results of these experiments are, that with good ambient light situation, the laser beam ensures good visualisation of bubbles and particles and therefore the posibility of counting the number of bubbles with the help of a software. The usage of strainer helped to create bigger number of tiny bubbles.
CFD methods for design of race car aerodynamics
Černík, Daniel ; Štefan, David (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with usage of CFD in design of race car aerodynamics, more specifically Formula 1 cars. The first part describes basic concepts of fluid dynamics. Following chapters talk about methods for determining aerodynamic properties of Formula 1 cars, introduction to CFD and aerodynamic devices on Formula 1 car. Next chapter is devoted to usage of CFD in Formula 1 industry. The last chapter deals with CFD simulations of Formula 1 rear wing in 2D.
Cavitation heater
Rovder, Juraj ; Závorka, Dalibor (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This report is considering an equipment that is using cavitation to heat water. The theoretical part explains basic principles of its function and different types of such device. Following chapters describe a construction of used heater and an experiment carried out on this device. The results of the experiment are collected and evaluated. The final part of the thesis contains suggested adjustments of the given cavitation heater.

Rocket fuel pumps
Kalina, Adam ; Sluše, Jan (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the pumps used in rocket technology, their operating parameters and general geometry. Particular attention is paid to inducers. Their influence on cavitation in pumps and overview of the different types that are used in various rocket engines. Is mentioned here how cavitation is created, what are the types of cavitation and its impact on the operation of the pump.
Draft tube role in hydraulic turbine performance
Havlát, Pavel ; Himr, Daniel (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the problems of draft tube. It contains basic description of draft tubes, their division and possibilities of their utilizations. Further, this thesis focuses on description of draft tubes, their efficiency, losses and ways to eliminate these losses. One part of this work also mentions basic relationships required for computing length of draft tube, velocity of the fluid in the draft tube and others.
Elimination of nanoplastics by cavitation and advanced oxidation processes
Kluknavská, Júlia ; Burda, Radim (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
Táto práca sa zaoberá znečistením životného prostredia mikro a nanoplastami a ich možnou likvidáciou. Práca pozostáva z rešeršnej a experimentálnej časti.
Marine energy utilization
