Suggestion of Solution of Old Age Pension Scheme in the Czech Republic

Bachelors´s thesis is aimed at problems of old age pension scheme in the Czech republic. Theoretical part of thesis defines basic data relating to pension system as whole and information necessary to comparision pensions in other states. Analytic part deals with pension systems in chosen states including their analysis which is important to individual suggestions of suitable solution of pension. At the end the thesis is completed by particular suggestions which are recommendations of old age pension scheme not only for citizens but also for our government.

Translation and analysis of a chapter from the novel The Red Knight by Miles Cameron

This thesis deals with the translation of a chapter from a book called The Red Knight (2012) from English to Czech. It consists of three parts - the introduction, the theoretical part, the practical part together with the final analysis of phenomena in my translation. In the first part, besides the introduction, there is a summary of the novel as a first part of the fantasy cycle The Traitor Son. The practical part contains a mirror translation of the selected chapter. The theoretical part of this thesis explores some aspects of translation and explains why the translation in the practical part is created the way it is. The reasons for author's choices are based on scholarly literature, but also inspired by different fantasy novel translations. There is also a comparison between various typological differences between Czech and English. The result of this bachelor thesis is an attempt to translate an authentic part of a literary work from English to Czech with a focus on aspects which are essential to the translation.

Commented translation of a chapter from LIFE 3.0 Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by Max Tegmark

4 Abstract This bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first is comprised of a side-by-side translation of the second chapter from book LIFE 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by physicist and cosmologist Max Tegmark. The second part is a theoretical comment on the translation process with a scientific terminology glossary. The work focuses on the issue of insufficiently developed wordage of the Czech language in the means of fast-growing field of technology and informatics. The work pursues the methods of translation of words without a word-for-word variant in the Czech language. The Night of Wenceslas: Translation and subsequent analysis of selected parts of Lionel Davidson's book

This bachelor thesis deals with translation from English to Czech. The thesis is divided into three main parts: the first major part lays out a theoretical framework - it gives a brief overview of various types and methods of translation at large. The sources for this part include mostly works by authors dealing with the theory of translation such as Umění překladu by Jiří Levý, Překlad a překládání by Dagmar Knittlová and collective or J.C. Catford's Linguistic theory of translation. The central part of the thesis is the translation itself: two and a half chapters taken from Lionel Davidson's book The Night of Wenceslas. The story focuses on Nicholas Whistler, a rather selfish and cowardly young Englishman with Czech roots who arrives to Prague after an absence of almost two decades. He reconnects with the city of his childhood under the unlikely circumstances of the secret mission that he found himself being dragged into against his will. The last part of the thesis focuses on specific phenomena in the translated text, taking into account the previous theoretical findings. It attempts to justify and comment on some of the translational decisions that were taken. Assessment of primary students with a focus on verbal assessment in the bilingual programme

The thesis focuses on primary school pupil's assessment in the bilingual program. The research is based on the way that the pupils are being assessed in the program, particularly in the half-year and in the end of the school year. The theoretical part of the thesis refers to the definition of the important terms, which are connected with the assessment and bilingual education. The important terms are for example school assessment, assessment, also its forms, functions and principles. The thesis is focused above all on the term verbal assessment, which is also defined in the theoretical part for example as what is its principle, positive and negative parts or how is the verbal assessment formulated. Last but not least in the thesis is defined the difference between the bilingual education, teaching by CLIL and the selected programme. The practical part was realized as a qualitative research, whose main methods of collecting were interviews and analysis. The interviews were performed at the primary school where the programme operates with three different groups of people who are a part of the programme. Anglicisms in the Facebook Communication of English Language Students

This bachelor thesis studies the occurrence of anglicisms in the communication among the students of the English language at the Faculty of Education, Charles University. The communications researched concerned the Facebook groups reserved specifically for students of this subject. The theoretical part explains the term anglicism in the context of word formation, its assimilation and significance for word-stock enrichment in the Czech language. The practical part presents the research conducted by the analysis of the corpus of posts and comments in the Facebook groups of students of the English language. The primary hypothesis presumes that more cases occur of students expressing a longer part of the utterance in English rather than of using a single English word in otherwise Czech utterance. It is accompanied by the evaluation of the necessity of the usage of anglicisms and an exploration of the possible reasons behind it. This discussion is supported by a questionnaire conducted among the English students of the Faculty of Education, Charles University.
