The image of society and propaganda in the normalization TV series Žena za pultem

This bachelor's thesis deals mainly with the comparison of the depiction of society and propaganda in the normalization TV series Žena za pultem. It also deals with the reactions to the series in the media after its premiere and how it differs from the reactions after rerun in 2002. The first part contains basic informations about the series, the circumstances of its creation, informations about the authors and actors. The following theoretical chapter describes the plot in each episode of the series. The third part compares how the serial shop worked and how it actually worked. Here are also the reactions of shop assistents from real shops. The assortment, which was available in the series and which was actually available in the shops in this period, is compared too. The utterances of actors from the series were also used here. Furthermore, the role of women as mothers and employees is analyzed, for comparison was used sociological literature. Next subchapter is about how serial characters spent their free time and how they make use of cultural opportunities, again the serial depiction is compared with reality. The thesis "Popular Music in Television Entertainment in 90's in Czech Republic" is mainly engaged in the development of music show in this period, namely monitors developments of hit-parades Medúza and Eso. The period of 90's can be talk like a top of this kind of shows that have been an integral part of television entertainment. In connection with their development this study also deals with the history of these formats prior to 1989 and with the period context. The complexity of the topic also forms the theoretical basis in which work is about notions of popular culture, mass and consumer culture and globalization. The concept of globalization is closely related to the developement of television programs. Globalization is going through all the basic components of the production of these programs, both music and the television environment itself, and is just a possible consequence of the decline in the popularity of television hit-parades today. Gas chromatography is one of the most modern and most used methods in analytical chemistry. Its variability predetermines it for use in many fields to determine the contents of many different chemicals. The use of gas chromatography (laboratory and field) is still underestimated for biogas technologies. The aim of the work is to in-troduce students to the possibilities of gas chromatography for biogas technologies, to the basics of methodological procedures for individual types of analyzes (research) with the subsequent analysis of selected biogas technologies (practically). The aim ofthe work is to acquire the basic skills of gas chromatography and the possibility of sepa-rate operation of the device. The work is suitable for students of non-chemical discipli-nes. The practical part is particularly demanding for accuracy and cleanliness.
Mother - a TV series that failed. The use of ideology and propaganda in dramatic production

The topic of the diploma thesis is the encoding of an ideological message in normalization series of Czechoslovak Television, specifically in the series Matka (Mother). This nine-part television saga was filmed in 1975 on the occasion of the XV Congress of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, planned for April 1976. Most normalization series had one thing in common - through the story of ordinary people, with whom the viewers could easily identify - they passed to the viewers the attitudes, the system of rules or the interpretation of history seen through the prism of the ruling party. The series Matka also followed this practice, and using the story of a woman - a laundress - showed the development of the labour movement in Bohemia. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of clarifying the concepts - ideology, propaganda and normalization; at the same time, it reflects the history of Czechoslovak Television and its importance as one of the most powerful tools of propaganda in the period of normalization. In this respect, television series, due to the immense popularity with TV viewers, were very effective. Media image of the Most! series in selected Czech media

This bachelor's thesis deals with the media image of the television series Most! It is one of the most successful projects of Czech Television in terms of the number of viewers and the media interest in the series was great. The series was exceptional not only for its viewership but mainly for the topics it presented, such as xenophobia, racism, and gender issues. The story takes place in the North Bohemian town of Most. This thesis will briefly introduce the series itself, its plot, creators, and actors. However, the main part of the thesis consists of quantitative and qualitative content analysis of selected media. The aim of quantitative content analysis is to obtain data on how often and to what extent media wrote about the series, what topics the media most often addressed in connection to the series, and so on. The aim of qualitative content analysis is to analyze selected texts in more detail. Part of the work is also the statement of the creator of the series.
Contemporary methods of devising broadcasting schedules of public and commercial television

Primary aim of the bachelor thesis is to compare the program scheme of television ČT1, as a public service medium and TV Prima, as a commercial television and describe the methods used for the program scheme creation. Secondary aim is to determine circumstances on which the new shows of each TV are created and how those shows are being implemented as a part of newly devised program schemes. First part of this bachelor thesis explains main terms connected closely with the thesis theme. Specifically, those terms are: dual broadcasting system, public service TV, commercial TV, ratings, target group, audience, subculture, prime time, ads, show creation and program scheme. The aim of the following thesis part is a brief summary of each compared TV and a more complex analysis of chosen characteristics, as follows: audience, ratings and the program scheme. Local production as a future for Netflix? Comparison of business strategy when entering selected European countries

This diploma thesis deals with the current phenomenon of video on-demand and the strategy of the streaming company Netflix when entering the European market. In the opening chapters it is necessary to explain the boom of the video on-demand services (VoD) in the context of television history and its position in relation to traditional linear broadcasting. Subsequently, the dramaturgical line and the programming offer of the company are presented , which is undoubtedly a competitive advantage of Netflix. In this context, Netflix's biggest competitors and their approach to production of original content are mentioned. The challenges Netflix is facing in its international expansion are also mentioned, including the need to tailor its offer and produce local content when entering new markets. Afterwards the European market as a whole is analyzed with regard to the specificities of the region and the key steps that were necessary to successfully start doing business on the continent. The Media Image of State Security in the Rudé právo and Svobodné slovo dailies (November 1989 - June 1990)

The bachelor's thesis titled "The Media Image of State Security in the Rudé právo and Svobodné slovo dailies (November 1989-June 1990)" discusses the media's image of the State Security Organisation (StB) over a period of several months following the events of the 17th of November 1989, when the communist regime in Czechoslovakia fell. The dailies analysed for this study were Rudé právo and Svobodné slovo. The periodicals were selected according to their political orientations. Rudé právo, described as "a paper published by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia", was a daily that officially represented the governing regime. Svobodné slovo, which began publishing the first uncensored information in November 1989 and called the "primary daily" of the Velvet Revolution, was selected as its opposite counterpart. This work has four chapters. The first chapter examines the State Security Organisation and its history, organisational structure, methods and manner of work in 1989. The second chapter presents the selected dailies Rudé právo and Svobodné slovo. The third chapter discusses the methodology of the entire work, and the final chapter contains research on the selected dailies in the form of a quantitative content analysis.
Living History on The Czech Television: Holiday in the Olden Days

The living history TV shows (in some cases also referred to as historical reality TV shows) are one of the contemporary trends in the creation of the reality TV genre. The purpose of such programs is to display a certain historical period in a fun and light-hearted form on television. Since they are programs included in the reality TV genre, their aim is also to capture the authentic reactions of those who perform in such programs. With this narrative style, the audience can see how the 21st-century man adapts to the period and how he behaves when confronted with certain historical moments. This kind of program is very popular in foreign media. Two shows created by Czech Television appeared on Czech TV screens. This is a series of Holidays in the Old Times - contains Holidays in the Protectorate and Holidays in the Era of Steam.
Changes in conception of film fairy tales

The current generation of children consume more medial contents through television and movies than ever before. Many classical literature works are adapted in this way, although they have to correspond with preferences of audience and with socio-cultural values which shows the different view at the same topic subsequently mediated to the youngest audience. This thesis acquaints with history of fairy-tales genre and its various forms. In view of target audience of this production, thesis concentrates with the effect of content and media devices on children audience in theoretical part. Simultaneously the thesis efforts to popularity of cinematized fairy-tales in Czech environment. Practical part analyzes two film adaptations of the same fairy-tale's theme and efforts to point out to the differences in creative conception and values, which these movies represent. The goal of this thesis is to prove the changing views on the classical themes in the course of time the influence of the contemporary ideas and imaginations of the society on the adaptation for children.
