Parent's coping mechanisms with the descendant's transsexualism

This thesis deals with parental coping with the transsexualism of their offspring. A questionnaire containing 66 items was created for this purpose. 16 parents of transsexual offspring participated in the research (12 mothers, 4 fathers). Just two offsprings were MtF, the others were FtM. 11 parents were contacted via their transsexual offspring, four parents were addressed at while attending a psychotherapeutic group for parents of transsexual offsprings and one parent filled in the questionnaire placed on the Internet. We found out that the most difficult situation for the parents was the moment their transsexual offsprings announced their transsexualism. A majority of the parents were in the state of shock and a majority also felt sorry. After that, the relation between the parents and their transsexual offspring improved. The parents evaluated the current relation between them and their transsexual offspring as sufficiently good. The person who helped the parents most to cope with the transsexuality of their offspring was his or her spouse, however in most of the cases nobody actually helped the parent. Rationality of the Debtor

This work deals with the indebtedness of consumers. It examines the causes of the debotrs themselves. Based on a secondary analysis of past research in the area of financial literacy, consumer behavior, statistical data, but also of qualitative research in the form of case study seeks to answer the question why the debtor becomes the debtor, the extent to which the indebtedness and indebtedness viewed as rational behavior but also if the debtor is accompanied by rational reasoning or irrational behavior. It concludes that the debtor can not be considered entirely rational. Applied policy then the issue of over-indebtedness problem takes into account the irrational assumptions by the debtor only marginally and does not reflect as one of its main causes.

Gas electron multiplier based photon detection for Cherenkov imaging applications

In the thesis we focus on the methods used to detect photons in Ring Imaging Cherenkov detectors, their description and the basics of the physical phenomena which lie behind them. We provide a brief description of the gaseous detector types and we describe the development of the new Thick GEM based detection system for the RICH-1 of the COMPASS experiment. We provide a detailed description of the latest tests and the convoluted route of the research done in the field. Causes and consequences of heavy households indebtedness

Bachelor thesis Causes and consequences ofheavy household indebtedness deals over the issue of indebtedness of households in the Czech Republic. Finding the causes and examines the implications of this present phenomenon. The first part defines the trend of household heavy indebtedness, which is almost ten years, an upward trend, and that brings along the risk of insolvency. Furthermore, looking over and defines the causes household indebtedness. To this purpose, using an analysis of various stakeholders of this phenomenon. For each of them analyzes its interests, behavior, the relationship with other stakeholders, but also the possibility of interference with the issue. Finally, it summarizes all the findings and describes the interaction between various stakeholders.

Dominance Strategies in Romantic Couples' Interactions

This doctoral thesis combines three major topics of how Romantic Couples verbally and nonverbally Communicate Dominance. We research their behavioral dynamics from Evolutionary and Communication perspectives. Against current psycho-social scientific theories, we do suggest that people that are stereotypically seen as submissive, those using other than direct, active, and aggressive strategies, can achieve their will as well. They simply use behaviors that researchers do not consider as dominant (powerful) behaviors and look for them. We explore the whole spectrum of dominance strategies and their context of where, when, and how they are used. We chose a highly qualitative approach during the data collection and analysis part. We adapted a psychotherapy method for research purposes, our Relationship Drama, to overcome significant limitations that nonverbal and communication research struggles with. Therefore, we could see and further qualitatively analyze real couple's behavior in their real typically appearing conflict interaction. Those are described in the theoretical part of this thesis, in chapter 1. Nutritional care and eating habits of people living with HIV

The relationships between nutritional status, infectious diseases, and the immune system suggest that nutrition is an indisputable cofactor in the progression of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. One of the main complications of HIV infection is multifactorial malnutrition, however, overweight and obesity have become more frequent. A specialized nutritional intervention should be an integral part of routine medical care for people living with HIV. It has been shown that the incidence of wasting syndrome and critical malnutrition among people living with HIV has significantly decreased simultaneously with the side effects of modern antiretroviral drugs. The side effects of modern antiretroviral therapy are much less common than previous generations of drugs. On the other hand, the prevalence of obesity and other chronic diseases associated with it has increased significantly among people living with HIV. The practical part describes and evaluates the monitoring of eating habits of 10 people living with HIV. The influence of oral hormonal contraceptive use on female sexuality: the evolutionary perspective

The proposed thesis is comprised of eleven papers connected by the employment of the evolutionary psychological approach in research on various aspects of human sexuality. The aim of the first monothematic part is to demonstrate the evolutionary-psychological approach to one recent phenomenon in female sexuality - the use of oral contraceptives (OC). OC use has been shown to suppress psychological mechanisms that are considered to be adaptive in the fertile period of the natural menstrual cycle. In particular, OC users' ratings of male stimuli that provide the cues of genetic quality and compatibility are lower in comparison with normally cycling women. Moreover, the increase in sexual desire and in the prevalence of proceptive behaviour observed during mid-cycle in normally cycling women is diminished. However, the impact of this phenomenon on mate-choice and relationship dynamics in an ecological context has not been studied. In the first study, we have analyzed the data of Czech women obtained via representative sampling within the Czech National Survey of Sexual Behavior. Sexual and psychological aspects of the lives of male sex workers in Prague

Prague, the Czech Republic is a popular sex tourism destination where sex work is decriminalized and young men offer sexual services at low prices relative to countries in Western Europe. This quantitative survey aims to identify some of the demographic and personality characteristic of these young men in the sex industry. Internet escorts (N=20) and sex workers in bars and clubs (N=20) completed the survey anonymously in the Spring of 2011. The results show that while sex workers in clubs often have troubled pasts and were forced into sex work in order to survive, the larger groups of sex workers in Prague is made up of internet escorts who have backgrounds which are not atypical for the average Czech youth. Personality test results however revealed both groups to have strong asocial characteristics in comparison to other Czech youth. The results of the measures of mental health (anxiety and depression) indicate that simply working as a male sex worker per se has little relationship to the healthy psychological functioning of these young men, but only in the case where they identify as homosexual. Sexual behavior and preferences in evolutionary perspective.

The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is focused on the main theories of human mating strategies, such as sociosexual orientation and sexual strategies theory, which emphasizes intersexual differences as a result from the asymmetry of parental investment, and strategic pluralism theory, which highlights intrasexual variation in mating behavior. The second part consists of one review article published in the Encyclopedia of Evolutionary Psychological Science and one original research article published in The Journal of Sex Research, a peer-reviewed journal. In this part we explored possible evolutionary origins and adaptive values of paraphilic interests and their prevalence in the Czech population. The third part consist of one article published in the peer-reviewed journal Personality and Individual Differences and two research studies which are currently under peer-review in two international journals. The main aim of this part was to test whether individual differences in femininity-masculinity, Big Five personality traits, and propensity to sexual excitation and inhibition are associated with individual sociosexual orientation.
