Issues of lung CT screening for smokers
POKORNÁ, Miroslava
The communication deals with the evaluation of the benefits of the Pilot Programme "CT screening of smokers' lungs". The objectives and methodology include a theoretical study of the anatomy of the airways and the emerging issues of lung cancer, smoking dependence, low dose CT chest scanning techniques, National Radiological Standards and the issues of the target group of smokers and their involvement in investigation and treatment at specialist centres. The research was conducted through a questionnaire survey of 50 smokers (total 25 questions) and 41 physicians (total 18 questions). As a result, it was found that smokers' patients' awareness of the program is not sufficient, mainly due to their lack of interest in CT scanning and treatment options for the consequences of smoking and their unwillingness to actively cooperate with health professionals in their health care, including their refusal to give up the smoking habit. The outcome of the survey of physicians is good awareness and commitment to the implementation of the Pilot Programme, but they are limited in numbers and workload. The survey shows that the Pilot Programme is beneficial to the population. Therefore, it could prospectively be implemented by a larger number of health facilities in our country as part of a screening programme and thus contribute to improving the health status of the population. It was also found that the Hospital Jindřichův Hradec a.s. meets the requirements and could be included in the Pilot Programme.
Effects of human demonstrator on horse's performance in a spatial task: Does social learning occur?
Pokorná, Miroslava ; Bartošová, Jitka (advisor) ; Fuchs, Roman (referee)
Social observational learning is one of learning abilities expected in domestic horses (Equus caballus) because of their ecological and evolutional history. However, a few studies focused on this type of learning in horses failed to provide clear evidence of observational learning and/or could not distinguished it from other types of learning. We tested interspecific observational learning abilities using the spatial task and a human demonstrator. We hypothesised that 1) horses with possibility of observing a human demonstrator will complete the task in shorter time than control horses without any demonstrator, and 2) horses observing a familiar demonstrator will carry out the task in shorter time than horses with an unfamiliar demonstrator due to established positive human - horse relationship. Twenty - four riding horses of mixed age and breed were randomly allocated to three groups per 8 and started the task either with observing a familiar demonstrator, unfamiliar demonstrator or no demonstrator (control group). Each horse was released individually at the starting point in the experimental paddock and the latency to pass the task was recorded. A horse completed the task once it walked 25 m from the starting point to the squared area (4x4 m) fenced by a tape, went into it through the entrance on the...

Thesis title: The impact of activity pian on knee-joints hypermobiiity. Thesis aim: Assembiy of information on constitutionai hypermobiiity anď its impact on knee- joints inciuďing the scheme ofpreventative measures. Suggestion of suitabie activity pian, verification of such programme in practice. Method: The theoreticai part ďeais with the methoď of expioration useď for constitutionai hypermobiiity investigation with a view to knee-joints especially. The practicai part presents a Iongituďinai experiment together with comparison ofthe two sets being monitoreď. The impact of activity pian with both the experimentai as well as the controi set of probanďs was monitoreď. Aiso the impact of tapping methoď was observeď, this with the experimentai set ofprobanďs oniy. The activity pian took four months in totai, 20 probanďs were participating (17 women, 3 men). The programme was mostiy composeď of compensation anď baiance exercises. The impact of the programme has been evaiuateď on the basis of resuits proposeď by the investigative methoďs appiieď (hypermobiiity investigation, knee-joint extension, investigation of Q - angie anď of the Iongituďinai flatfoot, investigation of contracteď muscies and ofiegs strength quantity, baiance investigation anď pain measurement). Cross-Border Cooperation within the European Union with Focus on the Czech Republic
Pokorná, Miroslava ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Karpová, Eva (referee)
The thesis is dealing with development and evaluation of the Cross-Border Cooperation within the EU, as a part of the EU Cohesion policy, with Focus on the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the cross-border cooperation programmes in the Czech Republic from the applicants' and selected implementation structure subjects' point of view. These selected subjects are the Ministry for Regional Development of the CR, the Centre for Regional Development of the CR and administrative regions of the CR. The first part of the thesis refers to the history and development of the Cross-Border Cooperation within the EU and the CR and to the reasons which led to its establishment. The last part is focused on the description and the evaluation of applicants' and selected implementation structure subjects' experiences with cross-border cooperation programmes and their perception of the Cross-Border Cooperation in the CR. As a method for the evaluation of the cross-border cooperation programmes in the CR were used the following procedures: an analysis of the available publications and internet sources, interview with representatives of the Ministry for Regional Development of the CR and the Centre for Regional Development of the CR, and an inquiry via questionnaire among the administrative regions of the CR.
