Pergl, Tomáš ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
The Mayors and Independents Movement (STAN) is in many aspects of the Czech party system a specific political entity to which has been paid insufficient attention in the academic sphere so far. Therefore, this diploma thesis comprehensively presents the origin and development of the Mayors and Independents movement in a descriptive form of a case study. Partial research questions aim to assess the degree of institutionalization of the STAN movement from the point of view of the theories of the authors Angel Panebianc or Vicky Randall and Lars Svåsand as well as the placement among the classical typologies of political parties from the point of view of internal party organization. The first part is analytical research focused on internal party processes, organizational settings, mutual relations between stakeholders, membership status and analysis of the structure of the STAN movement. The second part is devoted to the ideological and programmatic definition of the STAN movement, within which, in addition to program documents and attitudes of leading actors, the self-profile of the membership base from the data of the questionnaire survey is examined. Last but not least, the work also deals with relations with other political entities in terms of coalition potential for the formation of...

Spanish regional parties as niche parties?
Henčlová, Věra ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
Regional parties are among the younger topics of political science research, their issue is not addressed by too many authors, and therefore we do not find many works that would contribute to this not very researched area. One of the authors, who included regional parties in her research, is Bonnie Meguid. She introduced the concept of niche parties, dealing with the success of "parties of gaps" compared to mainstream parties. In this work, the concept of niche parties is applied to Spanish regional parties to determine whether the concept is suitable for regional parties and whether we can speak of Spanish regional parties as niche parties. The analysis of the concept will be performed based on five established criteria, based on the work of Meguid and Wagner, who followed up on her concept and expanded it. Eight regional parties from six Spanish regions, selected based on several conditions, will be examined. The source basis of this work are party documents of selected regional parties, especially their election programs.
Political image: marketing tool or personal conviction?
Petrák, Jiří ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
Fashion as a phenomenon was always connected with the human society. In this work I answer the role of men's fashion in politics within the cultural context in the Czech Republic. In this part I use the theory of representation from Hanna Pitkin, concretely the part about symbolic representation. It also uses theories from political marketing. My own research was done through the interviews with politicians from investigated political parties. This paper offers an answer which role plays the fashion in politics and how it is connected with the ideological background of the individual politician. Key words Men's fashion, political representation, political marketing.

The occurrence of signs of totalitarian language was monitored on the social network Facebook in the period 2013-2017. The results of the analysis show an increase in the use of features of the totalitarian language with the onset of the migration crisis. In the end, a comparison of the monitored political actors and a contextual interpretation of the findings is given.
Yes, Let's Move Forward! Can be political movements of Andrej Babiš and Emmanuel Macron classified as the personal parties?
Elbel, Ondřej ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The organization of political parties underwent significant changes in the last decades. New emerging parties and movements cannot be easily classified within traditional ideal types (e.g., mass party, catch-all party). One of the factors that contribute to the change of party organization is a personalization of politics. Firstly, I want to analyze in this paper the evolution of the role of leader in the core of political organization. In the course of time, I will cover the development from 1950's to the situation in the 2010's. One of the current models that aim to interpret the organization of parties is known as personal party developed by Mauro Calise. Reflecting the trend of personalization of politics he explored the impact of personalized leader on the entire organization of his/her political party. In this thesis, I want to follow up with Calise's argumentation and I will aim to apply his theory on two new cases. In the comparative study, I will focus on the French movement La République En Marche founded by Emmanuel Macron and the Czech movement ANO founded by Andrej Babiš. In spite of evident ideological discrepancies between both movements, there can be interesting parallels while studying the internal organization of these two. After the detailed comparison, a personal party model...
The end of liberal democracy in the Czech Republic?
Rathous, David ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Franěk, Jakub (referee)
This thesis discusses the state of democracy in the Czech Republic. As its name suggests, the aim is to answer the question of whether the end of liberal democracy is coming. According to the authors hypothesis, The Czech Republic had experienced a significant shift in political development, and it had in recent years turned away from the liberal democratic order. In the first part of this thesis, the author introduces the concept of liberal democracy from a theoretical point of view, including its development, with emphasis on the problematic genesis. It also covers concepts such as defective or illiberal democracies. Based on this, the author then formulates the criteria of liberal democracy. The second part of the thesis describes the political development of the Czech Republic with emphasis on the period after 1989 while observing the fulfilment of the criteria described by the Author. Regarding the research question, the author also formulates the thought whether the past in the Czech Republic liberal democracy was established or not and submits its claim for this argument. It is therefore a case study with the methodological design of qualitative analysis. This work was created in response to a very chaotic debate in the public space, which involved arguments from various politicians and...
Causes of the current crisis of the Parti socialiste
Pavlíková, Klára ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on causes of the contemporary crisis within the French Parti socialiste. The PS, as the hegemonic party of the French left until the last presidential and legislative elections in 2017, formed one of the foundational pillars of today's French Fifth Republic. After these elections, however, the party found itself in an unprecedented crisis. The debacle was also felt by other traditional parties of the French right-left continuum. It is clear that such a great crisis could not be solely caused by the unsuccessful presidential candidate Benoît Hamon. The research question of this qualitative study is therefore: How deeply rooted in the history of the Socialist Party are the causes of this contemporary crisis? Are the causes of the contemporary crisis of a long-term nature, which can be seen already in the 20th century? Or is the current state of the party conditioned by causes that arose only in the 21st century? The thesis captures and then analyzes the external and internal factors (both, in the 20th and 21st centuries) that could possibly cause this contemporary situation.
Representation of women in the French parliamentary elections in 2012 and 2017
Součková, Alžběta ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Kubátová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with a comparative analysis of the elections to the French National Assembly in 2012 and 2017 in terms of the representation of women among candidates and among elected deputies. The representation of women in the National Assembly is presented in the historical context of women in the political space from the French Revolution, through the gain of women's suffrage after World War II, to the Parity Act in 2000, which introduces legal quotas for women's representation in political institutions and functions. The thesis deals with factors that affects women's entry into politics and their number, such as the French Fifth Republic's electoral system in elections to the National Assembly or setting quotas for women's representation, as well as indicators that determine the real power and importance of women in politics. The comparison of the legislative elections in 2012, when the Socialist Party won, and the legislative elections in 2017, when the new political group En Marche won the majority, deals mainly with different approches of political parties to the law of parity and gender equality and then also with differences in filling key positions in the National Assembly. The conclusion of the thesis presents the results of the analysis, which will either confirm or...
