Educational programmes of orchestras in Prague

This diploma thesis deals with educational programmes of orchestras in Prague. Having dealt with two selected Prague orchestras, namely PKF - Prague Philharmonia and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the history of these orchestras is elaborated in the first chapter, followed by the chronological overview of already completed educational programmes. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the contemporary approach of the orchestras to this matter, their future vision and also the organizational aspects that lie behind the realization of the programmes. Part of the thesis is also a comparison of some selected factors of both orchestras and the results of a questionnaire survey among the orchestras'members. School choir as a mean of increasing the interest of music as well as an alternative to music education at high schools

Abstract This dissertation is focused on music education at high schools (childern 15-19 of age). It describes experimental educational concept which is based on the principle that students do not attend common lessons of music but they are members of a choir. The piece, which they study in a choir, is a mean of learning. The text describes the legislation which is connected with music education at high schools and the current situation, it is also focused on the concept and two examples that show the practical side of it. There is also an education efffectiveness research. The main part of the dissertation contains an example of educational programme, particularly a list of pieces which is the base for realization of this cencept. The list of pieces is divided into two parts - pieces of classical music and pieces of popular music, folk songs included. The conclusion shows not just the possible disadvantages of this concept but also further visions of delivering this concept to high schools. The bachelor thesis covers the personality of Ivan Poledňák and his music-teaching heritage. In the first part his life, his activities in musical educational organizations and teaching at universities in the Czech Republic are described. The purpose of this thesis is to research vocal and instrumental ensembles that are part of music department at Fr. Kmoch Primary school of Art in Kolin. To record their history, endeavours and the efforts of their conductors and choirmasters. For the sake of completeness I do also mention the graduates who went through these ensembles and then decided to study the music at high schools or at universities and also those who remain dedicated to orchestral and group performing even after finishing the primary school. Choral music in Albania

The importance of this thesis (project) lies in the fact that it highlights Albanian choral music. How was it created and established? What political and historical influences are reflected in Albanian music? Who are some of the most important primary composers of choral music in Albania and what are their compositions? Which were the first institutions and how they were developed? During what period did the development of choral music culminate and flourish? What is the current situation of choral music, its composition and artistic life in Albania, as well as existing choirs and their related institutions? My thesis tries to answer all of these questions.
Absolute Pitch: Theoretical Concept and Practical Issues

The thesis aims at complex assessment of absolute pitch both theoretically and practically. It describes the functioning of ear and main issues related to processing of sound and tone height. In addition, it clarifies related terms stemming from musical psychology. Especially, it endeavours to identify causes of absolute pitch and factors which form it. The thesis surveys several phenomena connected with absolute pitch, for example with synesthesia, and with other aspects such as occurrence of absolute pitch among population. It uses not only the Czech but especially English written literature which has not yet been used in such a scope in the Czech musical research.
