Stress de-tension of the patient before surgery

Summary: Main thema of this bachelor's essay was stress de-tension of the patient efore surgery. This thema is above all particularly elaborate in two main parts, respectively theoretical and empirical. There is definition and clarification of term stress in the theoretical part together with using of special medical literature. There is also pointed to factors evoking and causing stress. This essay furthermore points to the relation between stress and pain at the patient,as the same as between stress and not enough communication to the patient before surgery. Next, there are described possibilities of pain treatment. Theoretical part contents also description of hospital surrounding and its influence to stressogenesis at the patient. In fine of theoretical part there are brought managing strategie, which could detend stress of the patient before surgery. In the empirical part, I have tried to find out by quantitative research the most frequent factors and continuities matched to stress at the patient before surgery. The research file was content from patiens of different age groups and different diagnosis, whose were hospitalizated in Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem.

97 Title: Violence towards the Elderly Regarded by Medical Workers Key words: elderly people, violence, abuse, Elder Abuse and Neglect (EAN), cruelty, neglect, medical workers, support, This Bachelor thesis whose title is "Violence towards the Elderly Regarded by Medical Workers" is aimed in its theoretical part at the issues of elder cruelty and abuse. This part describes individual forms of violence, highlighting the difficult situation of an abused old person. Substantial part of the thesis is focused on medical workers and their opportunities how they can help the abused elderly. In its research part, the Bachelor thesis seeks to determine the level of medical workers awareness of elderly abuse indications using a quantitative research, offering some possible solutions of this problem. Tested sample included medical workers, such as certified nurse - 56 persons, attendant - 6 persons, and medical orderly - 16 persons. The research has been performed in two medical facilities in the Czech Republic. The survey results showed how many medical workers during their practice met with abused senior. Whether paramedics can identify an abused elderly person and know how to act in such case. Bachelor work deals with an effect and optimalization of analgesic medication in patients after total knee replacement. The study involves theoretic and empiric parts. Theoretic part consists of two parts: first is about total knee replacements, second is about analysis, evaluation and therapy of the pain. Empiric part is based on data processed from questionnaires and tables filled in by patients of I.orthopaedic department Teaching Hospital Motol. We assessed pain before and after operation. Communication with hospitalized seniors

The aim of thesis is to determine, what are the problems in communication with hospitalized elderly medical people. It consists of theoretic and empiric parts. The theoretic one includes: general communication, communication with patient, age and the elderly, communication with seniors and the old sick man. In the empiric part I have found the problems, differences in communication between groups of health professionals. For this research I used the original questionnaire. I discovered small differences in communication with patients between nurses, orderlies, and between younger and older workers. It confirmed that the lack of time is the biggest problem in communication with the patient to the nurses.

Boundaries of nurse's psyche between professional role and role of mother and wife

The aim of the thesis "Boundaries of nurse's psyche between professional role and role of mother and wife" is to map the boundaries of psyche of nurses as women who want and have to cope with the role of mother and wife while working in helping profession with continuous work-cycle. The aim was also to find out how both roles are mutually affected and how it is experienced by nurses. Whether they consider the possibility of planning the program with family to be sufficient, or whether they feel shift work as handicap. The theoretical part includes information about boundaries in the psyche of helping professions. It describes what this profession entails, what is the role of professional nurses. Overload and exhaustion results in problems such as stress and burnout. Further, the theoretical part deals with marriage, parental roles, division of labour in the household. The empirical part points out connection between profession and family. The research was performed in the form of semi-structured interview aimed at nurses' feelings concerning mutual interaction between professional and family life, and at the problems resulting from this mutual interaction. Quality of nursing care for patients with fracture of distal radius

The theoretical part is concentrating on describtion of quality of the health care, and also describes problems with injuries, mainly concentraiting on fractures of distal radius,diagnosis,therapy, and nursing aftercare. The main part of the project is qualitative research of patients, following operations on fractures of distal radius, presenting ten case studies. Five of the studies have concentrated on patients following operation with a method of internal osteosynthesis with LCP splint. The other five studies have been done on patients with an external fixation. The research compares total stay of the patient in hospital, the lenght of healing, and number of complications at certain days,which were observed in both groups of patients.(1st,2nd,5th,12th day, 3rd and 7th week, and 3rd and 6th moth).

The first part summarises the main knowledge of gelotology and the ways of application of humour in patients. The branch of nursing, its main ideas leading to satisfying of patients' needs are defined in this part. Some typical problems of geriatric patients are mentioned in the theoretical part. The empirical part describes an experiment carried out in a group of patients in Teaching Hospital Hradec Kralove. Subjective and objective indicators of the patients' condition of an experimental group and a control group were observed and compared. Humour was applied bedside in both groups of patients. There were used audio and video recordings of known crowd-pleasers. The results indicate the possibility of successful usage of humour in nursing / clinical practice.

Eating habits of children

My bachelor work deals with the problems of children obesity. I mention the definition of obesity, BMI, children obesity consequences, food pyramid, drinking habits and movement activity of children in the theoretical part. Further I analyse psychological aspects of children obesity, the personality of an obese child and behaviour disorders of obeze children. In the empirical part I describe the process of doing my research. At the same time I compare the answers of children from primary school and secondary school. I examined the children from primary school using narrative analysis while with the children from secondary school I led a half structured conversation. All in all 36 children from primary school and 11 children from secondary school took part in my research. I deal with questions of popularity of meals, regularity of eating and also how children spend their leisure time. The end of my work is devoted to the evaluation of it.

Quality of life before and after total hip replacement

Bachelor's thesis discuss about adjudication quality of life before and after totally endo - prothesis of hip joint. The skript is includes into theoretical and empirical part. Theoretical part consisting from two parts. First part is quality of life and second part is direct to problems about totally endo - prothesis of hip joint. Empirical part is based on examination by the help of interview with patient, which was applied on orthopaedic - traumatology department and consequently on ortopaedics emergency in Regional hospital Kolín, a.s. Collated was quality of life before and after operation.
