Nutritional status of the institutionalized elderly in North Bohemia

Nutritional status is an important characteristic of human health. It is especially important for vulnerable groups of population, such as senior citizens. The study provides a description and evaluation of the nutritional status of the institutionalized elderly in three retirement homes in three different North Bohemian towns (Teplice, Most, and Dubí). Inclusion criteria for the study restricted the sample to those aged 65 or over and without any acute illness or catabolic diseases, including cancer. Fifty percent of the residents living in each retirement home were examined. The sample comprised of 254 participants (183 females and 71 males). Data was collected from each facility in cooperation with the head nurse, and information related to the participant medical conditions and medications was obtained from personal medical histories. A MNA (Mini Nutritional Assessment) was used to evaluate the nutritional condition of respondents. Blood samples were taken to detect the markers of malnutrition (albumin, prealbumin, transferin, urea, and creatinine). The data was statistically analysed using the Fishers exact two-sided test and the Chi square test of independence. P values ≤0.05 were accepted as statistically significant. Name: Life of coeliac and his family in these days Aim: The aim of my diploma thesis is to map life difficulties of people with celiac disease. First of all, it is a problem with gluten-free diet which is essential for celiac disease. Problems with eating out, shopping for ingredients for meal preparation at home, expensiveness of this eating, and last but not least, support from insurance companies and the state. Methods: The theoretical part includes findings about celiac disease as an illness, it means the characteristics of its origin, diagnostics and treatment. Furthermore, findings about gluten- free diet and problems related to this kind of eating were worked. Last but not least, diet and availability of food for gluten-free eating are mentioned. I applied a survey method in the practical part, in which case an anonymous survey was created electronically by using Google forms, and then sent out via internet. The survey was filled out by 296 respondents. Outcome: We can see from the outcomes that most of the respondents sometimes break the diet due to social integration. Furthermore, we observed the frequency of eating in restaurant services, in which case most of the people sometimes visit, it means less than once a week. Economic analysis of influence of weather extremes on working and return on investment of small hydropower plants in the Czech republic betwen 2000-2015

Nowadays, investments to small hydroelectric power stations are still highly profitable. Return on investment of a small hydroelectric power station is frequently half the period guaranteed by the state or by energy regulatory authority (Energy Regulatory Office, ERO). There is an information asymmetry among the state, as the entity that providing a subsidy, and operator of a small hydroelectric power station. These power station have constantly great potential. However, the risk of extreme hydrological fluctuations caused by floods or drought is discussed more thoroughly. Consequently, these fluctuations might harm the return on investment.
