Documentation possibilities of relational databases
Weis, Richard ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The intention of this bachelor thesis is firstly dealing with the matter of documentation of extensive relational databases, and secondly, the assessment of existing naming conventions and standards, that are used for easier orientation in non-document databases. I will acquaint the reader with a software for documenting databases and easier orientation of administrators, as well as programmers, during the database development. Finally, I will be offering my own program for relational database documenting management.
Design of the database for retail
Bača, Marián ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with analysis and design of database for retail. The goal of this thesis is to create complex database solution covering all needs of the company. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part explains crucial database terms and approach to create a database design. The second part deals with a requirements analysis and the final part deals with the design of the database. I proceeded from the analysis and requirements gath- ering to database modelling and subsequent testing on the school Oracle database server. The supposed contribution should be the creation of database, which will comply with all necessary requirements and at the same time will consolidate all company data at one place which will result in better data handling.
Database design for project management
Nemčok, Viktor ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Hodinka, Pavel (referee)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of database for project management, which is the basis for creating Web application. The main resources are the foundation of projects, assigning people to projects and their proper function, distribution of tasks, submission of documents and various statistics. The database is created using the tool MySQL Workbench, which is subsequently tested thus ensuring suitability and ease of implementation for the Web application.
Hadoop NoSQL database
Švagr, Lukáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The theme of this work is database storage Hadoop Hbase. The main goal is to demonstrate the principles of its function and show the main usage. The entire text assumes that the reader is already familiar with the basic principles of NoSQL databases. The theoretical part briefly describes the basic concepts of databases then mostly covers Hadoop and its properties. This work also includes the practical part which describes how to install a database repository and illustrates basic database operations in two simple programs. The components of the practical part are case studies that report current use of Hadoop in the world-famous companies.
Design of a database for the administration system of projects of a design studio
Sládek, Daniel ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
Objective of the bachelor thesis was to propose a database for the administration of projects of one design studio. In order to fulfil the main objective there were defined partial objectives, such as the analysis of requirements, design of database and the implementation of databases in MySQL. The thesis is divide into theoretical and practical part, while the theoretical part explains the methodology for the design of database in the thesis and the ER model. The practical part contains the analysis of requirements for a database and then the design of a database, when there is the result of model of databases at the end of each level. You will find a conceptual, logical and physical model of the proposed database in the thesis. Then such database is put into operation in MySQL and then the proposed database is verified according to the criterions of fulfilment in the end. Result of the thesis is the proposed database, which a company will use for the creation of system. Everyone, who wants to create its own system for the administration of projects, may be inspired by the proposed database.
Introduction and use of graph databases
Hřivna, Jan ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to introduce the conception and uses of graph databases. The thesis is split into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes main principles of graph databases with focus on providing exact and detailed explanations. The practical part presents practical operations and particular solutions for the queries run in the Neo4j graph database system by Cypher query lanugage. Information was collected from reliable and published primary and secondary sources. Furthermore in the practical part, the actual Neo4j database was installed on local server. This database can be accesed and commands can be executed through graphic user interface.
Comparison of data management solutions in MySQL and MongoDB while using Doctrine 2 in Symfony 2 framework
Firla, Dominik ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Mittner, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on comparing a relational database system with a document database on both theoretical and practical levels. In theoretical part of this thesis principles of relational and document databases are explained. Closer attention is given to MySQL and MongoDB databases. In practical part a solution to data management is realized for a model situation. Both systems are compared in terms of implementation and performance. Knowledge gained is summarized in conclusion of this thesis and should help a reader when choosing the right database system not only for a web application implementing PHP framework Symfony. Practical part of the thesis also includes an author-made project containing implementation of both databases in the model situation.
Possibilities of using database Neo4j
Konoshenko, Evgeny ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The theme of bachelor work is NoSQL graph database Neo4J. The main objective of this work is to describe the key features Neo4J and show a practical example of how to work with this system. To achieve this objective were studied books, internet resources which relate to this topic and official documentation for the database system. The contribution of this work consists in dismantling work with Neo4J through different tools and defining use cases that database. After reading the practical part of the work reader would be able to understand the basics of working with database system Neo4J. The theoretical part focuses on the detailed analysis of the database system Neo4J, specifies terms NoSQL and graph database, defines the place of Neo4J in NoSQL databases, provides the possibility of using Neo4J in practice. In the practical part are presented examples of work with the system Neo4J, is shown the usage of query language Cypher, REST API and web interface Webadmin.
Comparison of CouchDB and MarkLogic databases
Sapegina, Evgeniya ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
This bachelor work deals with the NoSQL concepts and database management system CouchDB and MarkLogic in particular. The aim of this work is to bring the causes of NoSQL DBMS, describe their selected properties and to provide generally accepted classification of these DBMS based on their data model. Another aim is to describe the basic principles of DBMS CouchDB and MarkLogic, on selected use cases demonstrate some reasons of choosing these databases to some companies, and then compare these two DBMS and draw attention to some important aspects that may be crucial in decision making to deploy some of these DBMS. For the contribution of this work I consider compared popular and interesting because of its properties DBMS CouchDB and MarkLogic and thus created the basis for the selection of one of two DBMS into a specific project. The work is divided into four chapters. The theoretical part is introduced by the second and third chapters. The second chapter devotes to properties of NoSQL DBMS. The third chapter discusses the characteristics of DBMS CouchDB and MarkLogic. The practical part is introduced by the fourth chapter, where both these systems are compared according to various aspects.
Application of Big Data in the banking environment
Dvorský, Bohuslav ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Palovská, Helena (referee)
This thesis addresses the principles and technologies of Big Data and their usage in the banking environment. Its objective is to find business application scenarios for Big Data for purposes of delivering added value for the bank. Finding the scenarios have been achieved by studying literature and consultation with experts, they were also subsequently modeled by the author. Possibilities of application of these scenarios in the banking busi-ness environment were subsequently verified by the survey, which interviewed profession-als on issues relating to the found business scenarios. The thesis first explains the basic con-cepts and approaches of Big Data, the status of this technology compared to traditional technologies and issues of integration into the banking environment. After this theoretical beginning the business scenarios are found and modeled followed by the exploration and evaluation. Selected business scenarios are further verified for the purpose of determining the suitability or unsuitability for implementation using technologies and principles of Big Data. The contribution of this work is to find a real use of Big Data in banking, where most of the materials on this topic is very general and vague. This thesis verifies two business scenarios that can big a bank institution high added value if they are implemented with Big Data platform.
