The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic meant a worldwide milestone in the development of all areas of ordinary, day-to-day life. All these areas were suspended with immediate effect in order to stop the spread of the virus, and migration was no exception in this scenario. After declaring the state of emergency in the Czech Republic due to health hazards in connection to the spread of the novel coronavirus in March 2020, foreigners were subsequently banned from entering the country, and all migration processes were suspended indefinitely. The thesis summarizes how did the media work after the Second World War and how would they work at the presence.
The role of UNPROFOR peacekeepers during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina focusing on the safe area Gorazde
Poláková, Michaela ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to analyse the role of UNPROFOR (United Nations Protection Force) during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the years 1993-1995. The deployment of a peace-keeping mission was the only step taken by the Western countries towards resolving the conflict in the beginning, because none of the states were willing to intervene militarily. The humanitarian mission was supposed to be a temporary solution to the crisis, with the sole purpose of easing the suffering of the civilian population. At first, the main goal of UNPROFOR was to secure and maintain the Sarajevo airport, which was used for delivering supplies. With the conflict continuing, the UNPROFOR mandate was expanded, e.g. to protection of the humanitarian convoys. An important moment for the international community came with the introduction of the safe area concept. First one was established around Srebrenica, then other five were created - Tuzla, Bihać, Gorazde, Zepa and Sarajevo. With the help of UNPROFOR, these enclaves were supposed to safeguard the civilians and secure access to basic needs. The aim of this project is to find specific reasons behind the unsuccessful UNPROFOR mission and to determine, whether it was the fault of the soldiers themselves or of the international community. The hypothesis this thesis...
