This thesis deals with the influence of waves of migration in the European Union in 2014 and 2015 to change the capital. Specifically, the one-time change of capital in terms of effective labor. This objective has been addressed in the Solow model by adopting the method of fixed effects. Panel data used for the calculation was collected from the database of the World Bank, Eurostat and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Based on the obtained data it was not possible to demonstrate the influence current migration wave to the capital change effective labor because of the absence of data for the last two years. For this reason, efforts were made to verify some quantitative conclusions Solow model on the resultant data set. Based on the results obtained for the use of data, we can say that we managed to confirm some conclusions about the growth factors and the influence of individual variables Solow model. Another finding relates to the inability to examine the potential economic effects of the current migration wave to the absence of data in recent years.

Jindra, Petr ; Czesaný, Slavoj (advisor) ; Pícl, Michal (referee)
The purpose of this diploma thesis is complex analysis of labour market in the Czech Republic since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, with the emphasis on the critical years 2008-2012. The object of the analysis is the investigation of labour market indicators by trend analysis and standard errors, assessment of the hypothesis about volatility of labour market, determination of strong and weak labour market indicators, further the comparison with countries, which succeeded during the economic crisis, and some possible steps, which would lead to stabilization of the Czech labour market. Finally I investigate if the ruling political parties affect the economy (unemployment rate and inflation) in order to increase their chances of being re-elected by using the linear regression. In conclusion the labour market indicators are very volatile, although the Czech labour market is in good condition in comparison with other countries in the European Union. The political business cycle research shows that it does not occur in the Czech Republic, but this can be caused by the transformation period and the short time series.
Rating agencies and their importance for financial markets and economic policy
Svačina, Lubomír ; Jílek, Josef (advisor) ; Pícl, Michal (referee)
This paper performs an analysis of rating agencies and evaluates their importance for financial markets and economic policy. The importance of rating agencies and their ratings is assessed based on two criteria -- independence and accuracy of ratings, both criteria are analysed in detail from different views throughout this paper. Independence of rating agencies is considered in terms of historical context and the most important development milestones and trends, in terms of market positioning and demand for services of rating agencies, in terms of ownership structures and financing models. Accuracy of ratings is considered by historical analyses of sovereign ratings from the times of the Asian financial crisis, the European debt crisis and sovereign debt defaults and restructuralisations since 1990. In the issue of independence, the paper has revealed several risk factors, mainly in relation to financing model "issuer pays". In the issue of sovereign rating accuracy, the paper has come to a conclusion that rating agencies were only able to identify the most visible negative trends -- defaults and restructuralisations of debts in countries, where the problems had developed gradually. On the other hand, in surprising and sudden cases such as the Asian financial crisis and the European debt crisis, rating agencies were suprised just like the wider investor's public.

The aim of the diploma thesis is to verify whether investment incentives are causing expected effect at job market of Czech Republic. The analysis is performed on the basis of data from the agency CzechInvest, the Czech Statistical Office, General Finance Directorate and Public register and Collection of documents. The analysis of approved investment projects showed that 99 % of companies were interested in the tax credit, 36 % of companies were interested in donation for training and retraining, 33 % of companies were interested in for creation of new jobs and in other variants of incentives firms were interested less than in 5 %. From comparison of estimated cumulative amount of the tax credit from investment projects with real tax relief based from tax returns was calculated that for the period 1999 - 2012 has been utilized only 26 % of cumulative expected tax deductions. Difficulties associated with the using of the tax credit are examined in the analysis of financial statements, where was analyzed company XYZ Ltd. and 11 other companies which were supported by investment incentives. The conclusion based at financial statement analysis explains that 45 % of analyzed companies had to face complications with using of investment incentives, which were mainly due to loss of income. Following the high interest of companies in a tax credit there is criticized the current definition of the law, where there is insufficient connection between amount of tax credit and creation of new jobs.

The Ron Paul Phenomenon: Economic Policy and Election Campaign
Forman, Jan ; Ježek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pícl, Michal (referee)
The goal of my Master's Thesis is to analyze the reasons of Congressman Ron Paul's unsuccessful nomination in US 2012 Presidential elections. The paper is divided into two main chapters; theoretical and applied. The first one is focused on economic policy aspect of his election program, whilst the second is mainly concerned with his communication campaign. In this analysis, I will combine outputs of particular observations of both his presidential campaigns, in 2008 and 2012, with respect to its consistency. Using the political marketing methodology, we should be able to decide whether his fail was caused by the inappropriate selection of election topics, or by the communication campaign itself, or even by combination of both factors.
