Chemical communication in field mice of the genus ApodemusApodemus
Obstová, Lucie ; Stopka, Pavel (advisor) ; Vohralík, Vladimír (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with a special sebaceous organ that probably serves as a chemical communication means with four species of Apodemus field mouse - A. flavicollis, A. sylvaticus, A. agrarius and A. microps. This organ is found on the ventral side of a tail, so it is classified as a caudal organ. It consists of significantly enlarged sebaceous glands. It is particularly developed mainly with males; however, both females and infants have it as well. Its morphological structure has the same base regardless of the species, gender, and/or age; however the extent of development varies among species. The organ releases a secretion whose chemical content is unknown so far. Thanks to the gas-liquid chromatography, researchers have found out that there are both variations in the secretion contents among individual species, as well as within the same species. This kind of secretion is basically a characteristic feature of an individual, as it bears information about the species, gender, age and even the population affiliation. Functions of the organ stay unknown as well. It might serve to mark the territory, to play a role in social interactions (i.e. agonistic behaviour) and/or to be an important part of copulatory behaviour.
The role of caudal organ in chemical communication in field mice of the genus Apodemus
Obstová, Lucie ; Stopka, Pavel (advisor) ; Petrák, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the chemical communication of wood mouse of genus Apodemus with a focus on the special sebaceous gland on the ventral side of the tail - the caudal organ. Role of the caudal organ in chemical communication is unclear. To illustrate the function of the sebaceous glands, I decided to use metods of 454 pyrosequencing, proteomic analysis and qPCR. I created a database of transcriptionally active genes of caudal organ using 454 pyrosequencing. In proteomic analysis, I focused on proteins with a molecular weight 14-18kDa to verify the presence of the lipocalins, proteins involved in chemical communication. I compared the relative mRNA abundance of selected genes between individuals of the opposite sex using qPCR. In my research, I found that the caudal organ is active organ and caudal organ could participate in chemical communication. I detected a different relative mRNA abundance of genes in males and females at the mRNA level, which could play a role in differences in development of caudal organ between individuals of the opposite sex. Finally, I suggested possible ways of using the caudal organ in the chemical communication in wood mouse genus Apodemus from the obtained results. Use the activation of the deep stabilization system in the prevention of injuries in hockey players
OBSTOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis deals with issue of activation of the deep stabilization system in the prevention of injuries in ice hockey players. The aim of practical part was to descripe the theoretical knowledge of the deep stabilization system. In the thesis were presented knowledge of ice hockey. The practical part of the thesis is processed by the qualitative research method. To obtain secondary data was collected anamnesis of all probands. then was made the input and output of kinesiology analysis. The data and research results were published in the form of case reports. In the practical part of my thesis, I tested the 4 probands, ice hockey player a premier league team at the age of 22-24 years. I compared changes in the values obtained during the input and output kinesiological analysis with spacing of 8 weeks. During this time I have seen each proband 8x. The classic hockey training was included in the group A specific set of exercises to activate HSS. In group B was performed only classic hockey training. The probands had repeated problems with muscle contusion, stretching the muscles, rupture of the face, pain in the lumbar spine, pain in the groin, stretching the ligaments (knee, ankle joints), and pain in the knee joints. The aim of this study was to compare the efficiency of activation of concrete at HSS probands (hockey players) in the prevention of accidents in comparison with the frequency of injuries in hockey players without activating the HSS.Another aim was to create a specific set of exercises to activate HSS, which would be included in the classic hockey training. At the initial examination was detected in all probands insufficiency diaphragm, pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles. When the exit examination at the end of the investigation was a reduction in these pathological signs in only one proband. However, research carried out in such a large issue was not sufficient, as their number of respondents and the duration of therapy. Because of this main could not be filled with work or unequivocally answer the research question. This thesis can be used as educational material for the clinical practice of physiotherapists, physiotherapy students for coaches field hockey and ice hockey players themselves. This bachelor thesis may be a stimulus for further research activities in this area.
Non-profit organizations working in the field of the prevention of eating disorders
OBSTOVÁ, Lucie
This Bachelor?s Thesis focuses on non-profit organization where the prevention of eating disorders is concerned. The Theoretical Part provides a description of eating disorders, focusing on mental anorexia, mental bulimia and the prevention implemented by non-profit organizations. The Practical Part concentrates on defining the aim of this Bachelor?s Thesis, the methods applied and the characteristics of the target group. The first aim of was to map out non-profit organizations specializing in the prevention of eating disorders. The second aim was to determine how these non-profit organizations operate where prevention and public education are concerned. Data was obtained through qualitative research. Questioning was applied as the research method. Controlled interviews represented the data collection technique. The target group to be researched were non-profit organizations from all over the Czech Republic that deal with the prevention of eating disorders. Two non-profit organizations agreed to participate in the research project. The research project ran from March to June 2011. Research results showed that there are not enough non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic that specialize in the topic under review. Furthermore, research established that Anabell, an unincorporated organization with several branches, holds a leading position in the Czech Republic. Research results also proved that non-profit organizations do not run enough prevention programs and that the public education programs that they run in the Czech Republic are insufficient. This Bachelor?s Thesis may inspire the creation of a wider range of prevention programs and also the spreading of the network of non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. It may also serve as a source of information for parents and schools where eating disorders are concerned.
