Botany Field Trips
Brabcová, Eliška ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Kroufek, Roman (referee)
This bachelor thesis is devoted to the problem of field education in botany. Based on the available international and Czech literature, the thesis points out the current change in the attitude of the academic and lay public towards botany and the related educational implications. It also presents the dichotomy in the concept of field education - the traditional Czech approach of organizing field trips and the Scandinavian model of uteskole. Furthermore, the thesis questions the benefit of the conventional division of the field trip into stages - preparation, realisation and evaluation - in the context of striving for a more regular and conceptual field education. Within the actual implementation of field education in botany, it discusses selected aspects of nature walks, visits to botanical or school gardens. It bases the value of field-based botany education on the positive results of monitoring the achievement of cognitive and affective learning goals. It also emphasizes its importance in the relationship between the teacher and the group of students. At the same time, the thesis takes a critical look at field-based botany education through the general and individual barriers to its realization. In the context of the contemporary world, it focuses on the implementation of digital technologies in...
Educational Apps in Grammar School Biology
Fousková, Karolína ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Bartáček, Tomáš (referee)
The rapid development of digital technologies is also influencing our view of what the content of education should be and what methods should be used to deliver it. The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of educational applications in the context of teaching biology. The thesis analyses three types of educational applications that are most specific or potentially beneficial for biology - visualisation, virtual laboratories and interactive textbooks. These types of applications are united by their ability to combine attractiveness to fun with didactic content, thanks to which they can positively influence the learning process of the student. For a broader context, the paper also includes a look at the positives and negatives of digital technologies that can be used for teaching. Despite their many advantages, such as rapid feedback, interactivity, collaboration or individualisation, technologies can cause severe health or psychological problems. These effects can be prevented by correct body positioning during use or parental control. The thesis also addresses the question of what expectations are placed on educational applications and technologies. One of the biggest expectations is the motivation of students for the subject. As biology can be more difficult for some students to understand,...

Novotný, Petr ; Malá, Michaela (advisor) ; Prokešová, Eva (referee)
Title: First Aid during Mass Casualty Incident on the Railway Objectives: The main aim of this work was to assess the first aid knowledge of railway carrier employees working as passenger train crew in relation to mass casualty incidents on the railway. Another aim was to find out how many mass casualty incidents occurred on the regional and the national railway between 2010 and 2020 in the Czech Republic. Methods: In order to assess the first aid knowledge, a quantitative method of anonymous questionnaire with 90 respondents was used. The number of mass casualty incidents was found by a statistical analysis of raw data of railway accidents provided by The Rail Safety Inspection Office. These data were processed by MS Excel 2010 software. In order to test the stated hypotheses, the Student's t-test for Two Independent Samples was used. Results: It was found out that four respondents (4.4 %) of the study had encountered a mass casualty incident at work and provided first aid during that event. The questionnaire and the subsequent hypotheses testing using Student's t-test revealed that the respondent's length of service, participation in health training, and the experience of authentic first aid provided during their work did not have a statistically significant impact on their level of first aid...
The Concept of a criminal offence in the Czech Criminal Code
Novotný, Pavel ; Jelínek, Jiří (advisor) ; Tlapák Navrátilová, Jana (referee)
The Concept of a criminal offence in the Czech Criminal Code Abstract The diploma thesis examines the concept of a criminal offence in Act No. 40/2009 Coll., the Criminal Code. With the enactment of the new Criminal Code, a transition from a formal- material concept of a criminal offence to a formal concept has been made. With the enactment of Act No. 40/2009 Coll., the Criminal Code, the recodification work, which had lasted almost twenty years, was completed. The most discussed topic at the time of the preparation of the Criminal Code was precisely the concept of a criminal offence. The first chapter of the thesis introduces the general regulation of the concept and conception of a crime in separate and combined form and the most important terms related to the criminal offence. The second chapter presents the development of criminal law in the Czech lands from the 19th century beginning with the Code of Crimes and Serious Police Offences, through the preparation of the outlines of the Criminal Code in 1926 and 1937 up to the Criminal Act No. 140/1961 Coll. The third chapter presents the situation after 1989 on the way to the new penal code. It describes the substantive intention of the Criminal Code, with regard to possible alternatives to the concept of a criminal offences, which was approved by the...

The aim of this work was to compare the relationship of Czech and Finnish pupils to biology and its teaching, respectively to find out how Czech and Finnish pupils approach biology, what contributed to pupils' interest in biology and which teaching activities contribute to more enjoyable biology lessons. The research tool was a questionnaire. The data were statistically evaluated and discussed in the context of Czech literature and English literature from Finland. The results show that Finnish pupils have more positive attitude to biology than Czech pupils. The most favourite biology topic of Czech and Finnish pupils is human body. Time spent in nature contributes the most to pupils' interest in biology. Czech pupils would appreciate more excursions in biology lessons. Finnish pupils would like teachers to teach topics that pupils suggested.
Analysis of the Effects of Internal Recirculation Channel of a Radial Compressor on Extending the Stable Working Area
Paulík, Lukáš ; Vacula, Jiří (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The extension of the stable working area is very important especially for the radial compressors used in turbochargers. Compressors with high pressure ratio have a narrow stable operating region, which limits their practical use. One of the frequent modifications on radial compressor, concerning the extension of its range of stable work, is installation of an internal recirculation channel (IRC) in its inlet section. CFD programs are often used to simulate the flow through the turbomachines for optimizing the design of the IRC. Based on the extensive research, regarding the flow in the IRC and its location in the inlet of the compressor, suitable variants of its design were selected and applied to a radial compressor of the turbocharger. By simulating the flow in a radial compressor with the IRC, using Ansys CFX software, the compressor performance maps were determined. The best design of the IRC which meets the requirements for extending its stable working area was selected by evaluating the results of the simulations.
