Measurement and analysis of abrasive particles velocities in AWJ
Zeleňák, Michal ; Foldyna, Josef ; Martinec, Petr ; Cárach, J. ; Gurková, Lucie ; Nováková, Daria
Abrasive water jet (AWJ) is a progressive technology commonly used in many industrial applications. Potential of this technology is high and research in the field of optimal geometry design of an injection system has not been completed yet. New designs of the injection cutting head based on numerical simulation of the flow provide important information about processes occurring during the formation of AWJ. Detailed knowledge of velocities of abrasive particles during the abrasive water jet generation is vital for the verification of the numerical model. The aim of the experimental work was to test the applicability of the LIF (Laser Inducted Fluorescence) technique combined with the PTV (Particle Tracking Velocity) processing algorithms to analyze particle velocities at the output of the focusing tube. The combination of commonly used water pressures with abrasive mass flow rate was tested and the obtained results of abrasive particles velocities are presented in this paper.
Removal of surface layers of corroded concretes by high speed water jets
Sitek, Libor ; Bodnárová, L. ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Martinec, Petr ; Hela, R. ; Mádr, V. ; Hlaváč, L.
Examples of removal of surface layers of concrete specimen (exposed to action of various aggressive medium) by high speed water fan jets are presented in this paper. Experimental laboratory research was focused on utilization of pulsating water jets and their comparison to commonly used continuous water jets.
Pulsating rotating waterjet during removing of surface layers
Sitek, Libor ; Bodnárová, L. ; Foldyna, Josef ; Hela, R. ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Paper deals with removing of concrete surface layers by high speed waterjet technology under laboratory conditions. Circumstances of removing of surface layers of various qualities by pulsating rotating jet were studied on concrete specimens. Results are compared to effect of continuous rotating jet on the identical concrete samples under the same operating conditions.
Quality of surface produced by modulated jet
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Machined surfaces can generally be characterized by surface texture or geometric parameters, which may also reflect subsurface features. The paper deals with the determination of quality of bottom surface of the kerf created by modulated jet. The quality of bottom surface of the kerf was examined and compared to that created by continuous jet at the same operating parameters. Shapes and sizes of kerfs created both by pulsed and continuous jets were also studied.
Modulation of waterjet by ultrasonic: Measurement of dynamic pressure and force effects
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Series of measurement of a dynamic pressure inside the ultrasonic nozzle under its various configurations were performed within the framework of research focused on modulation of waterjet by ultrasonic. Results of measurement are compared and discussed in the paper.
Utilisation of modulated water jets for cleaning and removal of surface layers
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria
A problem of cleaning and removing of surface layers is a subject of the paper. The review of traditional cleaning methods is accompanied with section dealing with cleaning by high speed water jets, and, in particular, by ultrasonic modulated jets. Advantage of using such the jets are presented from booth economical and ecological points of view.
Measurement of force effects of modulated jet
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Results obtained in measurement of force effects of water jets modulated by ultrasonic vibration of a tip situated inside the nozzle are presented. Both method of modulation of the jet and method of measurement of force effects of the jet are briefly described. Potential of the measurement of force of modulated jets in determination of optimum configuration of the ultrasonic nozzle is discussed.
Measurement of selected parameters in rock disintegration by a mechanical tools: comparison of two principles
Foldyna, Josef ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria ; Sitek, Libor ; Vašek, Jaroslav
Results of sandstone and trachite disintegration obtained using laboratory pressure plough at the Institute of Geonics, CAS Ostrava and cutting rig at CRN in Cagliari (Italy) are compared in the paper.
Comparison of various types of nozzles for high-speed water jet generation
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria
In the paper, three different types of nozzles for high-speed water jet generation are compared. The original methodology is used for comparison that is based on combination of three independent groups of measurement.
