Media and digital technologies in primary school education
Novák, Jakub ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Lucký, Jakub (referee)
The end of the twentieth century is the beginning of significant development in the area of digital technologies. Modern technologies make our everyday life easier, they enable us to work more effectively, and they are a source of fun for all the age groups. Modern technologies have a great impact on us and our environment and thus they deserve our attention. Children, who are in everyday contact with modern technologies since the day they were born, are an especially sensitive group exposed to modern technologies. Thus this thesis aims to investigate whether Czech primary schools are aware of these digital changes in society and whether they react to these. In the theoretical part, an overview of the digital world (media, cyberspace, virtual reality) and the state of equipment at schools is being mapped. The research then focuses on using technologies in everyday life at schools. It concentrates on computer literacy of teachers at public elementary schools in Prague 7, their attitude to digital technologies, and their readiness to adapt to the fast pace of technological innovations.
New concentrations of job opportunities in the hinterland of Prague
Koloušek, Petr ; Novák, Jakub (advisor) ; Ouředníček, Martin (referee)
New concentrations of job opportunities in the hinterland of Prague Abstract In the past 40-50 years in North America and is currently also in some European regions we can see within the frame of suburbanisation process creation of new centers in the hinterland of the main cities. The development of these nuclei greatly influences the spatial structure of metropolitan areas. The aim of this work is to try to identify new concentrations of job opportunities in Prague hinterland which could be described as indedependent or cutting adrift and in this respect prove certain similarity to the metropolitan regions westward of the Czech Republic. Observation will be mainly applied to the development of the number and structure of job opportunities in the selected villages. These indicators will be helpful to identify the new concentration of jobs in the Prague metropolitan area. Subsequent analysis of commuting to work in selected villages partly answers the question of how the commuting links between elements of the Prague metropolitan area have changed and whether there is a noticeable trend towards the creation of new centers, which would include also non-residential functions, such as significant offer of an employment and services. In the case study of one selected municipality will be subsequently followed up...
Delimitation and transformations of metropolitan areas in transformation period in the Czechia
Karásek, Michal ; Novák, Jakub (advisor) ; Mulíček, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on two main aims. The first aim of the thesis is to define proper metodology for delimitation of the metropolitan areas. On the basis of this metodology the metropolitan area of Prague, Plzeň, Brno and Ostrava are defined. The second main aim of this thesis is answer the question, whether transformation period influences development of process of metropolization or not. With this purpose concrete development tendencies in the delimitation metropolitan areas are analyzed. At first the development of concentration of population and jobs is concerned, after follows the analysis dealing with spatial mobility of the population within areas. In this context is covered development of intensity of commute and migration flows among different units of metropolitan area. The growing in mutual intensity of mobility among units of metropolitan areas indicates the development of cooperative ties in territory and also development of process of metropolization. Time-space mobility of students in Prague
Šťástka, Jakub ; Ouředníček, Martin (advisor) ; Novák, Jakub (referee)
Šťástka, J. (2010): Time-space mobility of students in Prague. Diploma thesis, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Science, Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Prague. Diploma thesis deals with evaluation of time-space mobility of students in selected Prague's high schools. In introduction, research questions searching for differences in daily motions, non-daily motions of students and way of spending leisure time in a city are asked. Furthermore, this thesis is aimed at discussion of time-space mobility within Czech and foreign literature and approach to study of everyday-life. The main objective of this diploma thesis is to analyze everyday mobility of students in Prague and to document their correlation on the basis of data from questionary survey. key words: time-space mobility, everyday rythm, lifestyle, commuting, suburbanization, leisure time, students, Prague.
The objectification of postural function of abdominal muscles
Novák, Jakub ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor) ; Davídek, Pavel (referee)
This thesis evaluates the possibility of using objective measurements to assess the postural function of abdominal muscles. The theoretical part provides an overview of findings regarding postural function of the abdominal muscles and the context for their co-activation using intra-abdominal pressure. The results are summarized in the form of research studies relating postural function and low back pain (LBP). The overview of the methods used to measure intra-abdominal pressure and the abdominal muscle activity is the main focus. In this section, we present a new methodology for measuring the activity of the abdominal muscles by using pressure sensors attached to the abdominal wall in the areas of the groin and the lumbar triangle. Methodology: In the experimental part, we tested 35 healthy subjects (average age 21.26t, SD ± 1,62) in 3 posturally different seated scenarios: 1. resting breathing, 2. with added external load (the subjects held a dumbbell 20% of their body weight) and 3. with maximum voluntary increase in intra-abdominal pressure (the diaphragm test). Results: An independent samples t-test indicated that the pressure created by the abdominal wall for both sensors in situation resting breathing increases in situation external load (HA1: upper sensor p=0.0079, lower sensor p=0.0009). We...
Analýza regulace komplexů cytoplazmatických poly(A) polymeráz
Novák, Jakub ; Staněk, David (advisor) ; Hrossová, Dominika (referee)
The regulation of gene expression is achieved at many levels. Chromatin-based gene regulation has been the central focus of many decades of research; however, posttranscriptional control mechanisms are emerging as a fundamental complement to direct protein synthesis. This thesis is focused on a specific mechanism of posttranscriptional control - the translational regulation of mRNAs in the cell cytoplasm. This control is a consequence of the balance between translational repression and activation and hinges on the selective recognition of regulated mRNAs by RNA-binding proteins and their ability to recruit RNA modifying proteins. In this thesis, Caenorhabditis elegans germline was used to study translational control of the germ cell-enriched gene, gld-2. Mutants of known RNA-binding proteins of the PUF and CPB protein families were analyzed by performing Western blots, using anti-GLD-2 antibodies. Yeast 3-Hybrid system was used to identify the cis-regulatory sites in the gld-2 mRNA conferring translational regulation by members of PUF and CPB protein families. Potential autoregulatory loop of gld-2 gene expression was also investigated. This thesis shows that FBF proteins positively regulate expression of gld-2 and bind to a conserved sequence in the 3'UTR of its mRNA. Mutations of gld-2 negatively affect...
