Crimes related to the abuse of addictive substances

Crime related to substance abuse This thesis focuses on the issue of crime related to substance abuse and, in particular, on the issue of relationship between property crime recidivism and drug use. Drug use is widely recognised as a known criminogenic factor. The relationship between drug use and crime in general has been the subject of many research studies and scientific papers in the past. Property crime recidivism in relation to drug use is a similarly problematic issue. The successful reduction of recidivism rate is usually considered as evidence of effective criminal justice policy. Alongside this, property crime represents a significant proportion of total crime. Moreover, property crime is characterised by a higher recidivism rate than other types of crime. In practice, there are often visible signs of a possible link between these phenomena. A closer examination of the issue of property crime recidivism in relation to drug use raises many questions. Is there a relationship between these phenomena? And if so, is this relationship reflected enough in the interventions used to reduce recidivism? Dikobraz ‚porcupine‘ and buvol ‚buffalo‘ 200 years after Presl – research in the present-day pronunciation of two common nouns

Within a scientific internship for high school students realized in 2021 in the Czech Language Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, besides other things, the current pronunciation usage of the expressions dikobraz ‚porcupine‘ and buvol ‚buffalo‘, both proposed by J. S. Presl as official Czech zoological terms, has been investigated. Both of these designations are remarkable from the phonetic point of view. In case of dikobraz, the existing monolingual dictionaries of Czech have so far admitted the pronunciation variants [dɪkobras] and [ɟɪkobras]. The analysis of sound records from the online archives of Czech public media has proved that the variant [ɟɪkobras], reflecting the etymological origin of this Russianism, has not appeared in a representative sample of both professional and non‑professional speakers. An informal survey has discovered that its occurrence would be surprising or disturbing for a majority of the users of Czech. On the other hand, in case of the second analysed expression buvol, it has been proved that more than one third of the investigated Czech speakers use the sound variant [buːvol], whereas no such sound (or graphical) variant is codified at present (however, J. S. Presl originally proposed a form written bůvol). The results of this research may serve also as important data for the arising Academic Dictionary of Contemporary Czech, for the Internet Language Reference Book etc.

Measurement of Production Overall Equipment Effectiveness

The diploma work deals with measurement of Production Overall Equipment Effectiveness in manufacturing company Alfa. Firstly, is processed the theoretical part concerning general production, TPM, lean manufacturing and OEE. After than is described the company, monitored device and technology used by the device. In the final section is evaluated the OEE for January, February and March; analyze downtimes, mistakes and losses and their solutions are proposed. The last chapter is devoted to the economic evaluation of the proposal.

Diagnosis selected bridge structure

The Diploma thesis deals with the Diagnostics of Reinforced Concrete Bridge in the village of Luhačovice. This thesis also describes the individual Diagnostic methods and instruments used in purpose to make Diagnosis of bridge constructions. The main aim of the Diagnostics is to determine the current state of the Bridge which consists in verification of the actual road structure, determination of the physical and mechanical parameters of the Concrete (strength, depth of carbonation) and in some parts of the bridge structure to determine the type, number and position of the bending or shear reinforcement. Based on the evaluation of the laboratory tests a static calculation of the selected part of the Bridge structure is performed. The final evaluation is the determination of the load and the subsequent design of the necessary and recommended measures for maintaining or improving the functionality of the bridge structure.

Substitution for a current source of heat in the industrial area

The main aim of the thesis is to design a final draft for the reconstruction of the central heating plant of the industrial complex. The background research outlines a brief description of the development of heating plant industry, boilers and conditions for the selection of a suitable heat source for the particular area. Further, there are listed standard possibilities of heat sources for industrial complex, which does not use heat for technological purposes only, but as well as for heating and warming up of supply water. The finding and presentation section summarize the current energy supply and the design of two variants for conceptual modernization of the boiler plant. According to the annual and daily chart for the need for heat, there are specified required heat outputs, which are supposed to be distributed to the campus network of heating and as well as the fuel consumption. One of the options considers the use of storage tanks. The conclusion compares both suggested options.

This thesis deals with automatic acquiring thesauri from Wikipedia. It describes Wikipedia as a suitable data set for thesauri acquiring and also methods for computing semantic similarity of terms are described. The thesis also contains a description of concepts and implementation of the system for automatic thesauri acquiring. Finally, the implemented system is evaluated by the standard metrics, such as precision or recall.
